Bay Leaf Raitt is an American digital modeler and animator. He has worked for Image Comics, providing computer-image modeling for Steve Oliff to use with "Spawn", "The Pitt", and "The Maxx". He later worked at Protozoa, providing 3D animation computer effects. In 1999 Raitt emigrated to New Zealand to work for Weta Digital. In that post he was responsible for creating the computer-generated face for Gollum in The Lord of the Rings. In video games, he is a modeler, animator, and level designer for the videogame Squeezils.
Raitt and his colleagues, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon, and Ken McGaugh, won the Visual Effects Society Award for Best Character Animation in a Live Action Motion Picture for their work on The Lord of the Rings.
He worked for Valve Software until he departed on February 13, 2013. He is credited in Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 1, Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source and Portal.
He is the nephew of singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt and grandson of musical theater actor John Raitt.
Bonnie Lynn Raitt (born November 8, 1949) is an American blues singer, songwriter and slide guitar player. During the 1970s, Raitt released a series of roots-influenced albums which incorporated elements of blues, rock, folk and country. In 1989 after several years of critical acclaim but little commercial success she had a major return to public prominence with the release of her album Nick of Time. The following two albums Luck of the Draw (1991) and Longing in Their Hearts (1994) were also multi-million sellers generating several hit singles, including "Something to Talk About", "Love Sneakin' Up on You", and the ballad "I Can't Make You Love Me" (with Bruce Hornsby on piano). Raitt has received 10 Grammy Awards. She is listed as number 50 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number 89 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
Raitt was born in Burbank, California. She is the daughter of Broadway musical star John Raitt and his first wife, pianist Marjorie Haydock, and was raised in the Quaker tradition. She began playing guitar at an early age. Later she gained notice for her bottleneck-style guitar playing. Raitt says she played "a little at school and at [a summer] camp" called Camp Regis-Applejack in New York.
Lord is an appellation for a person or deity who has authority, control, or power over others acting like a master, a chief, or a ruler. The appellation can also denote certain persons who hold a title of the peerage in the United Kingdom, or are entitled to courtesy titles. The collective "Lords" can refer to a group or body of peers.
According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, the etymology of the word can be traced back to the Old English word hlāford which originated from hlāfweard meaning "loaf-ward" or "bread keeper", reflecting the Germanic tribal custom of a chieftain providing food for his followers. The appellation "lord" is primarily applied to men, while for women the appellation "lady" is used. However, this is no longer universal: the Lord of Mann, a title currently held by the Queen of the United Kingdom, and female Lord Mayors are examples of women who are styled Lord.
Under the feudal system, "lord" had a wide, loose and varied meaning. An overlord was a person from whom a landholding or a manor was held by a mesne lord or vassal under various forms of feudal land tenure. The modern term "landlord" is a vestigial survival of this function. A liege lord was a person to whom a vassal owed sworn allegiance. Neither of these terms were titular dignities, but rather factual appellations, which described the relationship between two or more persons within the highly stratified feudal social system. For example, a man might be Lord of the Manor to his own tenants but also a vassal of his own overlord, who in turn was a vassal of the King. Where a knight was a lord of the manor, he was referred to in contemporary documents as "John (Surname), knight, lord of (manor name)". A feudal baron was a true titular dignity, with the right to attend Parliament, but a feudal baron, Lord of the Manor of many manors, was a vassal of the King.

After finally getting around to tinkering with the SFM, I have finished Bay Raitt's absolutely phenomenal tutorial series. The outcome is slightly different to the original video, but the basics are all there. Special thanks to Bay and the entire SFM team for creating such a masterpiece of programming. Us Machinima enthusiasts are eternally grateful. More video's to follow, so if you like what I did, please subscribe.

The result from Bay Raitt's SFM tutorial series. I made a few changes but overall it's nearly the same. I like SFM, removes much of the mundane tasks needed in animation and let's you concentrate on your flick. There is probably a huge amount of preparation to get your own characters in the editor. I can see other software adopting the methodology in SFM, it's really handy.
He is the father of singer Bonnie Raitt, and former father-in-law of Michael O'Keefe. His grandson is Bay Raitt, the creator of Gollum's face for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. John is best known for his stage roles in the musicals Carousel, Oklahoma!, The Pajama Game, Carnival in Flanders, Three Wishes for Jamie, and A Joyful Noise, in which he set the standard for virile, handsome, strong-voiced leading men during the golden age of the Broadway musical. His only leading film role was in the 1957 movie version of The Pajama Game opposite Doris Day. In 1981, he found out that his high school sweetheart was widowed. Having recently divorced from his second wife, he phoned her. "Having played Zorba, I believe in grabbing at life," he recalled. "So I called her and this sweet voice answe...

I got the opportunity to work at The Spiraloid Workshop with the legendary Bay Raitt (Weta, Valve, Nichimen, et al) on an interactive VR comic book. This particular character was a collaboration with Bay directing and designing as I modeled. This is easily one of the most difficult but rewarding modeling experiences I worked on for the comic. Bay's expertise and attitude is a real treat to behold on a project. As can be seen: Wings3d, Maya, and 3d-coat are all used interchangeably to get this guy into the VR space and onto the comic book pages as well as functional for animation and offline rendering. if you have an Oculus, check it out here: http://bit.ly/NaniteFulcrumIssueOne Be sure to visit the Spiraloid Workshop Company http://www.spiraloid.net/
As the title says, this is my first SFM creation, or more exactly, the first one that I don't lose to one of SFM's crashes. Bay Raitt was right kids, PRESS CTRL+S every minutes as there is NO autosaves and you'll learn the hard way what are the thingies on which you must NOT click. Hey, despite my laptop (Win 7, 32bits) getting on 3 to 4 fps in the viewports it did the render pretty quickly and the result looks even better than what I hoped for. I guess this is the power of SFM. Now DON'T GET THE WRONG IDEA, SFM IS STILL PRETTY HARD TO LEARN. It took me around 15 hours to create this scene. With the knowledge I have now, I would probably take half less time. Special thanks to AdvanS3b for being the coolest guy ever, to MaxOfS2D for all the facepalms we do when he teaches me the right w...

Watch as I lipsynch Megadeth: Sweating Bullets within the Source Filmmaker. I know it's hard to hear me while I'm scrubbing audio and frankly this isn't a tutorial so much as it is a show of how I animate lipsynch manually, without the phoneme extractor. The frame rate is acceptable, but doesn't accurately show the lipsynch. It's actually much better than it looks in the video, but I don't have a machine like Bay Raitt or the rest of the Valve crew.

Show Ain’t Over Till The Big Finn Sings. There were several ethereal moments at the Bluesfest. One was being with several thousand people all clapping and dancing in time to Santana. Having been in a band, I have a very dim view of trying to get people to do just that. As for singing in the right key, forget it. Never ever invite people up on stage to sing with you, you’ll never live it down… unless, of course, they are the ones that are paying for the gig. NEIL FINN was the closing big name act for the festival, trouble was, his name just didn’t resonate with me and I started to head back to my tent on the Mullumbimby Football Field cum camp ground. But the night air was full of the sound of thousands of voices all singing Finn’s “History Never Repeats”. I couldn’t help but turn an...

I wanna dance with you this whole night
I hope the music never slows up
I hope this place don't never close up
Hold tight
'cause you're the only one who feels right
Girl I know it's now or never
I wanna dance with you forever
So hold on tight - never let me go, baby
'cause I can feel the rhythm of your love
And when you get yourself in motion
Girl it's tearin' my emotions right in two
Hold tight
And we will dance into the moonlight
All the stars they will surround us
We will be so glad we found us
So hold on tight - never let me go, baby
'cause I can feel the rhythm of your love
And when you get yourself in motion
I get lovin' notions all for you - yes I do
Hold tight
And we will dance into the moonlight
I hope the music never slows up
