If you have ever heard him play it is an experience you will not soon forget. Influenced by musicians that range from David Sanborn and Gerald Albright to Maynard Ferguson and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jermaine exudes passion with every note and phrase. There is an unmistakable anointing on his life and his musical gift. The Muskogee Oklahoma native has over 24 years of playing experience. His musical journey started at age 11 while listening to a local Jr. high school jazz band perform during a recruiting concert at his elementary school. The band gave out a form that simply stated “circle the instrument you are interested in.†Jermaine circled the saxophone and gave it to his father who within days walked him downtown to the local music store and bought his first saxophone. The rest is history!
Jermaine was relentless in his pursuit to learn the saxophone and gain the respect of his music loving father. Within his second of year playing he was improvising and playing along with his father’s David Sandborn albums. It was also during his second year he began playing in church with his mother. The combination of these two seemingly opposite worlds of Jazz and Gospel began to develop his unique style of playing.
Over the years he developed his abilities through the Muskogee Public School system under the direction of band directors Jim McPherson, Richard McCall, and Joe Metzer. He received many awards and accolades including the Boston Russell jazz award and membership in the O.M.E.A. All State Jazz Band. While in high school Jermaine often represented his church at district conferences and musicals. During his college years at Lincoln University, Missouri he quickly made a name for himself as versatile and dynamic player. He was selected to represent the university at the National Association for Equal Opportunity conference in Washington D.C. The performance landed him on the cover of Black Excellence Magazine. It was also during his college years he began playing with then Tyscott recording artist and John P. Kee choir member Denise Tichenor.
Jermaine established Jermaine Mondaine Music Ministries in 2003 with the mission of providing quality, life changing ministry and entertainment through music, public speaking, and inspirational literature. That same year he was honored by Muskogee Mayor, Hershel McBride with “Jermaine Mondaine Day†on November 22nd to recognize his accomplishments in the music field. He has performed and recorded with such established musicians and ministries as: Phil Driscoll, Sharon Daugherty, Bishop Noel Jones, Wayman Tisdale, and Dennis Jernigan. He has four recordings of his own and can be heard on countless others. There is one word that describes this young man and his ministry…

Neo-Romantic composer David Thomas Roberts performs his title work from the 2005 CD which includes pieces by Harold Budd and Scott Kirby as well as his own. "Discovery" was commissioned by Ann Edwards of Columbia, Missouri and composed in 2004 in observance of the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Composer-pianist, visual artist and writer David Thomas Roberts was born in Moss Point, Mississippi in 1955 and was painting, composing and writing by age eight. He has written over 120 works for piano and numerous chamber, vocal and electronic pieces. Though he has worked in various genres from his late teens, it is for his unique contribution to New Ragtime and its related idiom, Terra Verde, that he is best known. While still in his twenties, he came to be regarded as the leading living composer of piano rags and was hailed by New Orleans historian Al Rose as "the most important composer of this half century in America."

Composed in 1917 by Sam Wishnuff, this was published by E. J. Stark, who specialized in ragtime and blues. Both Scott
Joplin and James Scott, two of the "big three" classic ragtime composers, were also in Stark's catalogue. This early
little-known blues demontstrates how close to ragtime original blues was, and one may hear the roots of later country blues
in it. It was originally billed as "Blues-Rag-Trot", indicating a versatility for performance, depending upon the tempo it
was played at! Note the use of "revolutionary" (for 1917) harmonies, plus what was then considered "blue" notes that were
outside the traditional chord family used to harmonize the melody.

Bob Pinsker prefaced his set by saying for many of us under the age of 60, finding or discovering copies of once rare pieces
is, in effect, akin to “digging up history.” On a more personal note, he said the process of finding and working up pieces
that he “never thought (he) would ever see, much less play,” is an incredible experience. In fact, all three of the pieces in
this outstanding set were pieces Bob had seen in the list of musical compositions at the back of the seminal history book
“They All Played Ragtime.” The first one Bob played is listed there as “unpublished” and the third and last as “bought by
Mills Music but unpublished” (in this case, Bob said, because all of the manuscripts Lamb had sold to Mills were missing).
Bob delighted everyone with Tom Turpin’s final piece of published music, the World War I song “When Sambo Goes to France.”
Copyrighted on Dec. 21, 1917, the piece is typical of music of its era, and Bob’s arrangement is lively.
He followed with another great piece, also from 1917 – the once rare Sam Wishnuff rag “Shave ’Em Dry.” Bob said even rags
issued by John Stark, such as this one, was never included in any of the several Dover ragtime folios containing other once-
rare rags. It “evaded being republished,” Bob said, until Dick Zimmerman compiled pieces from Trebor Tichenor’s vaunted
collection in a “Gems of St. Louis Ragtime” folio. Bob shared the information about composer Wishnuff that he was able to
track down, then played this mostly bluesy piece, whose “Rag-Blues-Trot” subtitle is typical of pieces from the late teens in
the attempt of publishers (like Stark) to appeal to the widest potential audience as possible.

Zero Dark Thirty is a 2012 American action thriller film directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Mark Boal. Kathryn Ann Bigelow (/ˈbɪɡəˌloʊ/; born November 27, 1951) is an American director, producer and writer. Her films include the vampire Western horror film Near Dark (1987), the action crime film Point Break (1991), the controversial science fiction action thriller Strange Days (1995), the mystery thriller The Weight of Water (2000), the submarine thriller K-19: The Widowmaker (2002), the war film The Hurt Locker (2009), the action thriller war film Zero Dark Thirty (2012), and the short film Last Days of Ivory (2014). The Hurt Locker won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Picture, won the BAFTA Award for Best Film, and was nominated for the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama.
With The Hurt Locker, Bigelow became the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing, the BAFTA Award for Best Direction, and the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Director. Mark Boal
Mark Boal (born 1973) is an American journalist, screenwriter and film producer. Before he became a prominent figure of cinema, Boal worked as a journalist for such publications as Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Salon and Playboy. Boal's 2004 article "Death and Dishonor" was adapted for the film In the Valley of Elah, which Boal also co-wrote.
In 2009, he wrote and produced The Hurt Locker, for which he won both the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Academy Award for Best Picture. In 2012, he wrote and produced Zero Dark Thirty, teaming again with director Kathryn Bigelow, about the tracking and capture of Osama bin Laden. The film earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture and a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay.
As of 2013, Boal has won two Academy Awards (four nominations), a BAFTA Award, two Writers Guild of America Awards, a Producers Guild of America Award and four Golden Globe Award nominations. He has also won several critics awards.

David Thomas Roberts
David Thomas Roberts (born January 16, 1955) is an American composer and musician, known primarily as a modern ragtime composer. Roberts is also a painter in a primitivist style.
Born in Moss Point, Mississippi, United States, his first recording, "Music For a Pretty Baby", appeared in 1978. Pieces such as "The Early Life of Larry Hoffer", "Roberto Clemente", "Pinelands Memoir", "Through the Bottomlands", and the suite, "New Orleans Streets" have caused Roberts to be considered one of the leading contemporary ragtime-based composers. The New Orleans historian Al Rose called him "the most important composer of this half of the century in America."
Roberts coined the term "Terra Verde" (meaning "green earth") as a label for compositions which can not be considered as conventional ragtime, mostly by contemporary ragtime writers such as himself, Frank French, Scott Kirby, Hal Isbitz and others.
Roberts also works as a writer and visual artist, and is currently writing a critical history of New Ragtime. His mixed-media art appears in the magazine of visionary art, Raw Vision, and his poetry has been anthologized in Another South, a collection of experimental writing published in 2003 by the University of Alabama Press.

If you have ever heard him play it is an experience you will not soon forget. Influenced by musicians that range from David Sanborn and Gerald Albright to Maynard Ferguson and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jermaine exudes passion with every note and phrase. There is an unmistakable anointing on his life and his musical gift. The Muskogee Oklahoma native has over 24 years of playing experience. His musical journey started at age 11 while listening to a local Jr. high school jazz band perform during a recruiting concert at his elementary school. The band gave out a form that simply stated “circle the instrument you are interested in.†Jermaine circled the saxophone and gave it to his father who within days walked him downtown to the local music store and bought his first saxophone. The rest is history! Jermaine was relentless in his pursuit to learn the saxophone and gain the respect of his music loving father. Within his second of year playing he was improvising and playing along with his father’s David Sandborn albums. It was also during his second year he began playing in church with his mother. The combination of these two seemingly opposite worlds of Jazz and Gospel began to develop his unique style of playing. Over the years he developed his abilities through the Muskogee Public School system under the direction of band directors Jim McPherson, Richard McCall, and Joe Metzer. He received many awards and accolades including the Boston Russell jazz award and membership in the O.M.E.A. All State Jazz Band. While in high school Jermaine often represented his church at district conferences and musicals. During his college years at Lincoln University, Missouri he quickly made a name for himself as versatile and dynamic player. He was selected to represent the university at the National Association for Equal Opportunity conference in Washington D.C. The performance landed him on the cover of Black Excellence Magazine. It was also during his college years he began playing with then Tyscott recording artist and John P. Kee choir member Denise Tichenor. Jermaine established Jermaine Mondaine Music Ministries in 2003 with the mission of providing quality, life changing ministry and entertainment through music, public speaking, and inspirational literature. That same year he was honored by Muskogee Mayor, Hershel McBride with “Jermaine Mondaine Day†on November 22nd to recognize his accomplishments in the music field. He has performed and recorded with such established musicians and ministries as: Phil Driscoll, Sharon Daugherty, Bishop Noel Jones, Wayman Tisdale, and Dennis Jernigan. He has four recordings of his own and can be heard on countless others. There is one word that describes this young man and his ministry… Anointed. -

"Discovery" was commissioned by Ann Edwards of Columbia, Missouri and composed in 2004 in observance of the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Composer-pianist, visual artist and writer David Thomas Roberts was born in Moss Point, Mississippi in 1955 and was painting, composing and writing by age eight. He has written over 120 works for piano and numerous chamber, vocal and electronic pieces. Though he has worked in various genres from his late teens, it is for his unique contribution to New Ragtime and its related idiom, Terra Verde, that he is best known. While still in his twenties, he came to be regarded as the leading living composer of piano rags and was hailed by New Orleans historian Al Rose as "the most important composer of this half century in America." -

Structure: Intro AA BB Trio-intro C DD BB A characteristic late rag mixture (one section is straight blues), very pianistic, with the three-over-four device featuring Novelty-style breaks." Sam Wishnuff - May 10, 1917 Composed in 1917 by Sam Wishnuff, this was published by E. J. Stark, who specialized in ragtime and blues. Both Scott Joplin and James Scott, two of the "big three" classic ragtime composers, were also in Stark's catalogue. This early little-known blues demontstrates how close to ragtime original blues was, and one may hear the roots of later country blues in it. It was originally billed as "Blues-Rag-Trot", indicating a versatility for performance, depending upon the tempo it was played at! Note the use of "revolutionary" (for 1917) harmonies, plus what was then considered "blue" notes that were outside the traditional chord family used to harmonize the melody. ( From Ragfest 2012) Bob Pinsker prefaced his set by saying for many of us under the age of 60, finding or discovering copies of once rare pieces is, in effect, akin to “digging up history.” On a more personal note, he said the process of finding and working up pieces that he “never thought (he) would ever see, much less play,” is an incredible experience. In fact, all three of the pieces in this outstanding set were pieces Bob had seen in the list of musical compositions at the back of the seminal history book “They All Played Ragtime.” The first one Bob played is listed there as “unpublished” and the third and last as “bought by Mills Music but unpublished” (in this case, Bob said, because all of the manuscripts Lamb had sold to Mills were missing). Bob delighted everyone with Tom Turpin’s final piece of published music, the World War I song “When Sambo Goes to France.” Copyrighted on Dec. 21, 1917, the piece is typical of music of its era, and Bob’s arrangement is lively. He followed with another great piece, also from 1917 – the once rare Sam Wishnuff rag “Shave ’Em Dry.” Bob said even rags issued by John Stark, such as this one, was never included in any of the several Dover ragtime folios containing other once- rare rags. It “evaded being republished,” Bob said, until Dick Zimmerman compiled pieces from Trebor Tichenor’s vaunted collection in a “Gems of St. Louis Ragtime” folio. If you have ever heard him play it is an experience you will not soon forget. Influenced by musicians that range from David Sanborn and Gerald Albright to Maynard Ferguson and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jermaine exudes passion with every note and phrase. There is an unmistakable anointing on his life and his musical gift. The Muskogee Oklahoma native has over 24 years of playing experience. His musical journey started at age 11 while listening to a local Jr. high school jazz band perform during a recruiting concert at his elementary school. The band gave out a form that simply stated “circle the instrument you are interested in.†Jermaine circled the saxophone and gave it to his father who within days walked him downtown to the local music store and bought his first saxophone. The rest is history!
Jermaine was relentless in his pursuit to learn the saxophone and gain the respect of his music loving father. Within his second of year playing he was improvising and playing along with his father’s David Sandborn albums. It was also during his second year he began playing in church with his mother. The combination of these two seemingly opposite worlds of Jazz and Gospel began to develop his unique style of playing.
Over the years he developed his abilities through the Muskogee Public School system under the direction of band directors Jim McPherson, Richard McCall, and Joe Metzer. He received many awards and accolades including the Boston Russell jazz award and membership in the O.M.E.A. All State Jazz Band. While in high school Jermaine often represented his church at district conferences and musicals. During his college years at Lincoln University, Missouri he quickly made a name for himself as versatile and dynamic player. He was selected to represent the university at the National Association for Equal Opportunity conference in Washington D.C. The performance landed him on the cover of Black Excellence Magazine. It was also during his college years he began playing with then Tyscott recording artist and John P. Kee choir member Denise Tichenor.
Jermaine established Jermaine Mondaine Music Ministries in 2003 with the mission of providing quality, life changing ministry and entertainment through music, public speaking, and inspirational literature. That same year he was honored by Muskogee Mayor, Hershel McBride with “Jermaine Mondaine Day†on November 22nd to recognize his accomplishments in the music field. He has performed and recorded with such established musicians and ministries as: Phil Driscoll, Sharon Daugherty, Bishop Noel Jones, Wayman Tisdale, and Dennis Jernigan. "Discovery" was commissioned by Ann Edwards of Columbia, Missouri and composed in 2004 in observance of the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Composer-pianist, visual artist and writer David Thomas Roberts was born in Moss Point, Mississippi in 1955 and was painting, composing and writing by age eight. He has written over 120 works for piano and numerous chamber, vocal and electronic pieces. Though he has worked in various genres from his late teens, it is for his unique contribution to New Ragtime and its related idiom, Terra Verde, that he is best known. While still in his twenties, he came to be regarded as the leading living composer of piano rags and was hailed by New Orleans historian Al Rose as "the most important composer of this half century in America."

Composed in 1917 by Sam Wishnuff, this was published by E. J. Stark, who specialized in ragtime and blues. Both Scott
Joplin and James Scott, two of the "big three" classic ragtime composers, were also in Stark's catalogue. This early
little-known blues demontstrates how close to ragtime original blues was, and one may hear the roots of later country blues
in it. It was originally billed as "Blues-Rag-Trot", indicating a versatility for performance, depending upon the tempo it
was played at! Note the use of "revolutionary" (for 1917) harmonies, plus what was then considered "blue" notes that were
outside the traditional chord family used to harmonize the melody.

Bob Pinsker prefaced his set by saying for many of us under the age of 60, finding or discovering copies of once rare pieces
is, in effect, akin to “digging up history.” On a more personal note, he said the process of finding and working up pieces
that he “never thought (he) would ever see, much less play,” is an incredible experience. In fact, all three of the pieces in
this outstanding set were pieces Bob had seen in the list of musical compositions at the back of the seminal history book
“They All Played Ragtime.” The first one Bob played is listed there as “unpublished” and the third and last as “bought by
Mills Music but unpublished” (in this case, Bob said, because all of the manuscripts Lamb had sold to Mills were missing).
Bob delighted everyone with Tom Turpin’s final piece of published music, the World War I song “When Sambo Goes to France.”
Copyrighted on Dec. 21, 1917, the piece is typical of music of its era, and Bob’s arrangement is lively.
He followed with another great piece, also from 1917 – the once rare Sam Wishnuff rag “Shave ’Em Dry.” Bob said even rags
issued by John Stark, such as this one, was never included in any of the several Dover ragtime folios containing other once-
rare rags. It “evaded being republished,” Bob said, until Dick Zimmerman compiled pieces from Trebor Tichenor’s vaunted

WTVP, our Illinois Public Broadcasting partners and the League of Women Voters of Illinois are proud to bring you the only “downstate” debate between the two major party candidates for
Governor of Illinois. Incumbent Democratic Governor Pat Quinn of Chicago, and Republican nominee Bruce Rauner of Winnetka are scheduled to meet in the WTVP Studio for a one-hour debate to be broadcast live across the state on public TV and radio stations, and webcast worldwide on wtvp.org.
The debate will be moderated by Jak Tichenor from WSIU-TV, host of Illinois Lawmakers, and the candidates will be questioned by a panel of journalists. The panel will consist of WTVP’s own H Wayne Wilson, host of At Issue; Amanda Vinicky, Statehouse Bureau Chief from WUIS radio; and Jamey Dunn of “Illinois Issues” magazine.
The debate is scheduled to air live on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. on WTVP-HD 47.1. We will also offer taped encores of the event on Friday, Oct. 10 on our World Channel, 47.2, and Sunday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. on WTVP-HD.
The debate will also be archived online at wtvp.org for viewing anytime.
