After 19 seasons in San Jose, Patrick Marleau has found a new home.

The Sharks' career leading goal scorer signed an $18.75 million, three-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday in hopes of winning the Stanley Cup that eluded him for so long in San Jose. (MORE)

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Taj Gibson is on his way to Minnesota, giving Tom Thibodeau another trusted veteran to join Jimmy Butler and the new-look Timberwolves.

Gibson agreed to terms on a two-year, $28 million deal on Sunday, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal cannot be finalized until the NBA's moratorium ends Thursday. (MORE)

TORONTO (AP) Mookie Betts hit two home runs and matched a career-high with eight RBIs to help the Boston Red Sox rout the Toronto Blue Jays 15-1 on Sunday.

Betts went 4 for 6 as AL East-leading Boston won for the sixth time in seven games, completing the three-game sweep. He hit an RBI single in the second, a three-run homer in the fourth, a two-run blast in the sixth, and a two-run single in the seventh. It was the second multihomer game of the season for Betts, who also hit two at Philadelphia on June 14. Betts had eight RBIs against Arizona on Aug. 14, 2016. (MORE)

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) The Washington Capitals re-signed center Evgeny Kuznetsov on Sunday to a $62.4 million, eight-year deal and made room for him by trading Marcus Johansson to the New Jersey Devils.

Kuznetsov will count $7.8 million against the salary cap through 2024-25. That's a heavy price for a team that will have to make moves to ice a full roster under the $75 million cap next season. (MORE)
