Burnin Red Ivanhoe-1970 Denmark

Burnin' Red Ivanhoe was formed back in 1967, and that makes them one of the first scandinavian prog bands. Their style was quite original from the start, blending jazz-rock with R&B, blues and psychedelia.
Their second self-titled album released in 1970, contains the track "Secret Oyster Service", and quite soon after that, a new, even more jazz-orientated group was formed, called Secret Oyster.
Burnin' Red Ivanhoe was disbanded in 1972 (although they released one more album in 1974), and as a result, most members moved over to Secret Oyster.
Burnin' Red Ivanhoe second album is certainly their best and recommended for fans of early prog rock. From this album i chose  "Across The Window Sill" and "Near The Sea". Enjoy!!!

Les Baxter-Hell's Belles- 1970 US OST

Les Baxter's (THE DUNWICH HORROR, PANIC IN YEAR ZERO, BEACH BLANKET BINGO) original score to the 1970 AIP motion picture HELL'S BELLS, starring Jeremy Slate, Adam Roarke, and Jocelyn Lane, and directed by Maury Dexter. Baxter's groovy, full-throttle rock score punches this fun biker flick into overdrive with uber-catchy riffs, fun vocals and late 60's rock-era spills and chills. (amazon)
From this soundtrack i chose "Wheels", "Hot Wind" and "Hell's Belles".

VA Living Chicago Blues Vol.1-1978 Sonet, Alligator Records

This compilations (vol.1-6) contains some of the best musicians men and woman from Chicago blues scene.
LINER NOTES: "Every night in Chicago, the sounds of blues bands reverberate from narrow barrooms, basement taverns, and small, modest lounges throughout the city.  At black neighborhood bars on the South and West Sides, decorated with Christmas tinsel, day-glo zodiac posters, handwritten signs on the walls; at the more publicized, fashionable nightspots on the North Side; or just at house parties out on the streets- the blues men and women of Chicago are singing, shouting, crying, laughing, celebrating.  Songs of hard times, heartbreak, loneliness; songs to drive the blue feelings away, to rock the night and let the good times roll".
From Vol.1 i chose The Jimmy Johnson Blues Band "Serves Me Right To Suffer" and  Left Hand Frank And His Blues Band "Linda Lu".

Joy Unlimited -1970 Germany (US Mercury promo release)

This 1970 album by the German group Joy Unlimited was, to the eternal confusion of discographers, issued under three separate titles. In Germany, it was called "Overground", in the UK, "Turbulence" and in the US, simply "Joy Unlimited".
Although the band would later go in a more progressive direction, this LP was not all that progressive in nature, and not at all like the avantart rock of the 1970s Krautrock movement.
Instead, it was a competent amalgam of trends in American and British mainstream rock, pop, and soul, rather like the kind flashed by numerous bands emerging in neighboring Holland at the same time, like Shocking Blue.
Joy Unlimited sang entirely in English and were fronted by a woman singer Joy Fleming, as well as an array of guitar and organ textures and breaks and samples galore.
From this album i chose "All Together Now" and "Helpless Child".

The Wizards from Kansas - 1970 US

The Wizards from Kansas were an obscure country-psych rock group from Kansas. Their eponymous sole album finds this Midwestern group sounding more like a West Coast hybrid combining rambling, melancholy country-rock elements with harder psych-rock sounds.
Their biggest influences seem to have been Northern California-based groups like the Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Grateful Dead.
"The Wizards From Kansas" is a killer laid back country-psychedelic album contains fine versions of classic period songs like "High Flying Bird" and Buffy St. Marie's "Codine", as well as some excellent original compositions notably "Misty Mountainside","Country Dawn" and "She Rides With Witches".
The album was recorded in San Francisco, between July and August of 1970 and released on Mercury Records (SR 61309). Two songs from this album, "High Flying Bird" and "Flyaway Days".

Members:

Robert Menadier- bass & vocals
John Coffin- lead guitar
Robert Crain- twelve-string guitar & vocals
Harold Pierce- rhythm guitar & vocals
Mark Naftalin- keyboards
Marc Caplan- drums
