US or U.S. usually refers to the United States of America, a country in North America.
US, U.S., Us, us, or u.s. may also refer to:
The United States Capitol, often called Capitol Hill, is the seat of the United States Congress, the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. It sits atop Capitol Hill, at the eastern end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.. Though not at the geographic center of the Federal District, the Capitol forms the origin point for the District's street-numbering system and the District's four quadrants.
The original building was completed in the year 1800 and was subsequently expanded, particularly with the addition of the massive dome. Like the principal buildings of the executive and judicial branches, the Capitol is built in a distinctive neoclassical style and has a white exterior. Both its east and west elevations are formally referred to as fronts, though only the east front was intended for the reception of visitors and dignitaries.
In 2014, scaffolding was erected around the dome for a restoration project scheduled to be completed by early 2017.

The United States of America (USA), commonly referred to as the United States (U.S.) or America, is a federal republic composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major territories and various possessions. The 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C., are in central North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in the northwestern part of North America and the state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific. The territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. At 3.8 million square miles (9.842 million km2) and with over 320 million people, the country is the world's third or fourth-largest by total area and the third most populous. It is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries. The geography and climate of the United States are also extremely diverse, and the country is home to a wide variety of wildlife.
A capitol is a building in which a legislature meets, including:
Capitol may also refer to:
The United States Capitol dome is the dome situated above the United States Capitol which reaches upwards to 288 feet (88 m) in height and 96 feet (29 m) in diameter. The dome was designed by Thomas U. Walter, the fourth Architect of the Capitol, and constructed between 1855 and 1866 at a cost of $1,047,291 (equivalent to $220 million in 2013). The dome is not stone, but cast iron carefully painted to appear to be made of the same stone as the main capitol building. It is actually two domes, one inside the other, and the total weight is 14.1 million pounds (6,400 t).
The origin of the first dome began with the Capitol design contest sponsored by Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, at the behest of President George Washington, in 1792. The winner of the contest, Doctor William Thornton, called for a dome in his original design for the building. Most vividly, Thornton drew upon the Roman Pantheon for inspiration with the Neoclassical dome and associated portico.
The United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. It has housed the meeting chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives for almost two centuries. Since the laying of the cornerstone in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government. CRAZY day meeting Senators and religious leaders. Toured the U.S. Capitol, exclusive Book of Mormon lunch in the Library of Congress. Then had a very uncomfortable day in an Uber. Just your standard day around here:) This video was not sponsored or paid for by anyone other than ourselves. This was such a unique opportunity that we had to be part of even if it did take Lincoln out of school, cost thousands for the travel. Once in a lifetime experience and we are extremely grateful for the leaders in Senate who are willing to make time for social media. This YouTube channel experience has taken us many places but this experience with an apostle of the LDS church and the highest ranking senator is just another one of those amazing experiences in life that we will forever be grateful for. ...

Pornography used to be seen as a purely moral or religious issue. And for many, it still is. But it’s also a serious public health crisis, and that message is gaining traction. In June, Dawn Hawkins, Vice Pres. of The National Center on Sexual Exploitation, hosted a U.S. Capitol Hill Symposium entitled Pornography: A Public Health Crisis. Bringing together experts from all over the U.S., the NCSE wants our leaders to know that “science and research now show a wide range of harm caused by pornography, including direct links to increased demand for sex trafficking, child sexual exploitation and violence against women. Pornography affects the developing brains and shapes the sexual templates of children.”

FROM FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE: Right now, Congress is rushing to pass sweeping legislation that fits every definition of an unjust law -- the American Health Care Act. The consequences of gutting key provisions of health care are staggering. Millions of African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans and Asian Americans, rural families, seniors, children, women, and poor whites who now have affordable health insurance will lose it through Medicaid cuts. Premiums and out-of-pocket expenses will spiral out of control for millions of working Americans. Medicare for our seniors will be one step closer to ending as we know it. And amid all this ha...
