Georgian Folk Dance - Mtiuluri (The Mountaineers Dance)
Historically, Georgians tend to strive for excellence. This mountain dance is probably the best representative of the Georgian spirit. It unites love, courage, and respect for women, toughness, competition, skill, beauty, and colorfulness into one amazing performance.

Mountaineers: Crevasse Rescue Using a Z-Pulley System
When a fallen climber is unable to help in the rescue or when few haulers are available, the 3:1 pulley is likely the best method. The pull force is on the accident rope, which may be partially entrenched in the snow, but the high mechanical advantage of the system gives haulers power to overcome some entrenchment.

JE Mainer's Mountaineers - Run Mountain (1949)
JE Mainer (July 20, 1898 - June 12, 1971) was an American old time fiddler who followed in the wake of Gid Tanner and his Skillet Lickers. Joseph Emmett Mainer grew up on a farm in the mountains near Weaverville, North Carolina and learned to play the banjo and fiddle from an early age. Since Wade, his brother, also was interested in learning to play the banjo, he left that to Wade and concentrated on the fiddle. Soon, Mainer began performing at local country barn dances. He found work at a textile mill in Knoxville, Tennessee but moved to Concord, North Carolina in 1922 for another work in a mill. Mainer's fame as a fiddler rose and sponsored by the Crazy Water Crystals in 1933, he and his newly formed band consisting of JE on fiddle, Wade Mainer on banjo, and Zeke Morris on guitar, made their radio debut on WBT in Charlotte, North Carolina calling themselves "JEMainer and his Crazy Mountaineers." The band appeared on several radio stations in the following years until 1935, when they received a recording contract on. In August the same year, the Mountaineers, with the addition of "Daddy" John Love, recorded for Bluebird Records. Wade Mainer and Zeke Morris temporarily left the band in the early 1936 to form a duo. In the meantime Ollie Bunn, Howard Bumgardner and Clarence Todd replaced Wade, Zeke and "Daddy" John Love on the next recording session. In the summer of 1936, Wade and Zeke returned to record with "the mountaineers". The next year, in 1937, Wade Mainer formed ...

2002 WVU-VT Football
In 2001 the WVU Mountaineers lost to Virginia Tech 35-0 under first-year coach Rich Rodriguez, on their way to a 3-8 record. It was the most one-sided game in the history of the series going back to 1915. In 2002 the Mountaineers had greatly improved, taking a 7-2 record into Blacksburg. The #12 ranked Hokies were coming off two straight losses to Pittsburgh and Syracuse, and were looking to get back on track against a team they had dominated recently. The Mountaineers had other ideas...

1984 WVU-Boston College football game part 1
In 1984 the #4 ranked Boston College Eagles, led by their Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Doug Flutie, came to Morganotown for Homecoming weekend. Flutie had never beat the Mountaineers during his time at BC, and this was his last chance for a win. He lead the Eagles to a 20-6 halftime score, but the Mountaineers staged a furious comeback powered by the arm of QB Kevin White and the legs of RB John Gay. What transpired has become one of the most legendary games ever played at Mountaineer Field.
