Sailing comprises wind propulsion of a craft by means of sails and steering it over water, ice or land, depending on the type of craft. A sailor manages the force of the wind on the sails by adjusting their angle with respect to the moving sailing craft and sometimes by adjusting the sail area. The force transmitted from the sails is resisted by forces from the hull, keel, and rudder of a sailing craft, by forces from skate runners for an iceboat, and by forces from wheels for a land sailing craft to allow steering a course on a point of sail with respect to the true wind.
While there are still some places in the world where sail-powered passenger, fishing and trading vessels are used, these craft have become rarer as internal combustion engines have become economically viable in even the poorest and most remote areas. In most countries sailing is enjoyed as a recreational activity or as a sport. Recreational sailing or yachting can be divided into racing and cruising. Cruising can include extended offshore and ocean-crossing trips, coastal sailing within sight of land, and daysailing.
Roderick David "Rod" Stewart, CBE (born 10 January 1945) is a British rock singer-songwriter. Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry. Stewart is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records worldwide.
He has had six consecutive number one albums in the UK, and his tally of 62 UK hit singles includes 31 that reached the top 10, six of which gained the number one position. He has had 16 top ten singles in the US, with four reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2007, he received a CBE at Buckingham Palace for services to music.
With his distinctive raspy singing voice, Stewart came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with The Jeff Beck Group and then with Faces, though his music career had begun in 1962 when he took up busking with a harmonica. In October 1963 he joined the Dimensions as a harmonica player and part-time vocalist, then in 1964 he joined Long John Baldry and the All Stars. Later, in August 1964, he also signed a solo contract, releasing his first solo single, "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl", in October of the same year. He maintained a solo career alongside a group career, releasing his debut solo album An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down (US: The Rod Stewart Album), in 1969. His early albums were a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music and R&B. His aggressive blues work with The Jeff Beck Group and the Faces influenced heavy metal genres. From the late 1970s through the 1990s, Stewart's music often took on a new wave or soft rock/middle-of-the-road quality, and in the early 2000s he released a series of successful albums interpreting the Great American Songbook.

Even the most daunting world records are meant to be broken … eventually. For elite navigator Stan Honey and a crew of sailing all-stars, beating the prestigious monohull transatlantic sailing record was the ultimate accomplishment. And it was no easy feat. On July 22, 2016, the Comanche—a custom-built, 100-foot racing yacht—set sail from New York to the southern tip of England. Precisely five days, 14 hours, 21 minutes and 25 seconds later, the Comanche’s crew shattered the world record … by more than a day. Just to be a little bit different *again* we've set up our new boat so the head has a composting toilet. There are a few reasons for this decision that you'll hear Matt discuss in the video. I take on a job of adding scuff resistant tape to the slider of our companionway, since our brand new paint has been taking a bit of a beating. Even with my tiny hands, some of the spaces were almost impossible to reach. Matt shows off all the hard work he's been putting into our electrical panel and we show off our new WeBoost system that will help us get better internet as we're traveling. To end the episode I go over some swag we've received that is up for grabs in a giveaway. Cheers from the WATER!! Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. Sailing and Island hopping around Nosy Be is some of the best we’ve ever seen! we set sail back towards crater bay as we had to say a sad goodbye to Camilla, that was catching a flight back to Sweden. Leaving the incredible Lemur island, we did another stop at the tiny island of Tanikely! The diving here is mind-blowing and just as I was swimming around a big coral head! boom! A rare beautiful Zebra shark was resting on the sea floor! Incredible :D We then set of on a epic sailing weekend to a super protected bay where we meet some familiar faces! Hope you Like :D Much love, Karin and the crew! Subscribe at http://youtube.com/svdelos This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. 'Why aren't you going to paint your hull?' 'If you're going to leave it bare, you should at least shine it up'. 'You're in for a ton of corrosion if you leave your hull bare'. These are just a sample of the questions and comments we've been getting through our last few videos, so we thought it was time to publicly address the issue. Our hull is staying bare aluminum, and we *want* it that way. Keep reading as to our reasons why, and to answer all the questions you may have about why there is no longer paint on the side of our boat. In this episode we also dig our mainsail out of storage to see how it fits on the boat, and Matt goes over our plans for how we're going to lay out our deck hardware. With all the changes we've made to Elements, the previous set-up is no longer going to w...
Wow. We’d heard sailing the New Zealand coastline was going to be pretty epic, but we really had not expected such beauty. Sailing the rugged east coast from the Bay of Islands down to Auckland and back was quite the adventure. This weather is still going to take us some time to get used to. In this episode we sail through the roaring 40s and it was crazy! Definitely the most intense part of our 3000NM passage from South Africa to La Reunion. We had wind speeds of over 50kn, 23–32ft (7–10m) waves and in the middle of everything our autopilot breaks and it’s hand steering from now on! A bit of a tester as our new crew have not hand steered before. Our whole world was getting slammed and tossed around in the waves and I think Brady described it pretty well “It feels like if your driving a car, with your eyes closed on a bumpy dirt road for days. Knowing your going to hit a tree but not knowing when you’re going to hit that tree. So all of a sudden you’re just driving and BOOM!“ Get ready for some hectic weather :D hope you Like! Much Love, Karin, Brian and Mr Brady! Subscribe...

Home again across the sea
I am sailing,
Stormy waters
To be near you, to be free
I am flying
I am flying

Across the sky
I am flying
Passsing high clouds
To be with you, to be free...
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Through the dark night...
Far away
I am dying
Forever trying
To be with you, Who can say...
