Canal Walk is a shopping centre in Cape Town, South Africa, that opened in 2000 and was built around a canal. It has a total retail area of 141,000-square-metre (1,520,000 sq ft). The centre forms the heart of a mixed-use development known as Century City, which includes office blocks, residential areas and the Ratanga Junction theme park.
Canal Walk is the 3rd largest shopping centre in Africa. Gateway Centre in Durban is the largest and the Sandton City complex in Johannesburg is larger when including the Nelson Mandela Square annex. Built in what the developers call "Cape Venetian architecture", the shopping centre hosts over 400 stores, 7,000 parking bays, numerous restaurants, 20 cinemas plus a game arcade.

Abu Dhabi (US /ˈɑːbuː ˈdɑːbi/, UK /ˈæbuː ˈdɑːbi/; Arabic: أبو ظبي Abū Ẓabī Emirati pronunciation [ɐˈbuˈðˤɑbi]) is the capital and the second most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (the most populous being Dubai), and also capital of Abu Dhabi emirate, the largest of the UAE's seven member emirates. Abu Dhabi lies on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf from the central western coast. The city proper had a population of 1.5 million in 2014.
Abu Dhabi houses federal government offices, is the seat of the United Arab Emirates Government, home to the Abu Dhabi Emiri Family and the President of the UAE, who is from this family. Abu Dhabi's rapid development and urbanisation, coupled with the relatively high average income of its population, has transformed the city into a large and advanced metropolis. Today the city is the country's center of political and industrial activities, and a major cultural and commercial centre, due to its position as the capital. Abu Dhabi accounts for about two-thirds of the roughly $400-billion United Arab Emirates economy.
Cape Town (Afrikaans: Kaapstad [ˈkɑːpstɐt]; Xhosa: Ikapa) is a city in South Africa. It ranks third among the most populous urban areas in South Africa, after Johannesburg and Durban, and has roughly the same population as the Durban Metropolitan Area. It is also the provincial capital and primate city of the Western Cape. It is the southernmost city on the African continent.
As the seat of the National Parliament it is also the legislative capital of the country. It forms part of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. The city is famous for its harbour, for its natural setting in the Cape Floristic Region, as well as for such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. As of 2014, it is the 10th most populous city in Africa and home to 64% of the Western Cape's population. It is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, reflecting its role as a major destination for immigrants and expatriates to South Africa. The city was named the World Design Capital for 2014 by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design. In 2014, Cape Town was named the best place in the world to visit by both The New York Times and The Telegraph.
Canals and navigations are human-made channels for water. In the vernacular both are referred to as 'canals'. The main difference between them is that a navigation parallels a river and shares its drainage basin, while a canal cuts across a drainage divide.
A navigation is a series of channels that run roughly parallel to the valley and stream bed of an unimproved river. A navigation always shares the drainage basin of the river. A vessel uses the calm parts of the river itself as well as improvements, traversing the same changes in height.
A true canal is a channel that cuts across a drainage divide, making a navigable channel connecting two different drainage basins.
Most commercially important canals of the first half of the 19th-century were a little of each, using rivers in long stretches, and divide crossing canals in others. This is true for many canals still in use.
Both navigations and canals use engineered structures to improve navigation:
Walking (also known as ambulation) is one of the main gaits of locomotion among legged animals, and is typically slower than running and other gaits. Walking is defined by an 'inverted pendulum' gait in which the body vaults over the stiff limb or limbs with each step. This applies regardless of the number of limbs - even arthropods, with six, eight or more limbs, walk.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the term walking includes activities such as walking in a park and trekking in the Alps. However, in Canada and the United States the term for a long, vigorous walk is hiking, while the word walking covers shorter walks, especially in an urban setting.

I made this film and music as a tribute to Roger Hutchinson, aka King Learie, who died on the 3rd September 2010. King Learie had many friends and contacts here on Vimeo and I felt it was important to let those people know. Both King Learie and myself loved to walk and film on Aylestone Meadows and the adjacent canal and waterways here in Leicester. The first half of the film was shot by myself over the last couple of days. The last half consists of a collection of clips made by King Learie over the last year. King Learie was a very prolific and creative contributor to Vimeo and I will really miss his work and his comments.

I was taking a walk along the canal and saw some baby ducks swimming in the water while the mama stood on the bank above cleaning herself. I luckily had my video camera and filmed them from the other side. They swam and played completely unaware of my voyeurism. During this walk I had been thinking about existential relevance and irrelevance while shooting the surface current of the canal when I saw the ducks. After a few minutes of capturing the images I looked down the lengthways of the canal and saw some people sitting in the sun watching me watching the ducks. If they had a camera it would have been stalking and creepy. I continued my walk down the canal in the direction of the current and arrived at a bridge where I waited to watch boats pass by. I thought about how little time I sp...
Emmanuelle shows you where the locals go to get away from the city life. Location: 10th Arrondissement Canal St-Martin is where Parisians come to take a break from the city life. You can walk, you can bike, you can dine and even shop. Napoleon was responsible for the construction of the canal in the early 1800's. Back then, many poor people were living here, unlike today, where the rich crowd apartments with a view of the canal. There are many boat tours here, to show you the 81 mile long Canal St-Martin along is a (unclear) on the history of this area. On the weekends, the streets along the canal are turned into biking and pedestrian areas. When you are hungry, you can eat at any one of the restaurants along the canal. Rising from the waters of Venice Lagoon is the Italian city of Venice, a city like no other. Begin your visit in the central district of San Marco, and walk upon one of the world’s great squares, St Mark’s Square. The square is surrounded by some of the city’s finest jewels such as St Mark’s Basilica, St Mark’s Campanile and Doge’s Palace. Just outside stand the Columns of San Marco and San Teodoro. From here, journey along one of the world’s great aquatic thoroughfares, The Grand Canal. Glide past elegant palazzos; once the homes of wealthy merchants, today many of these palaces house important museums and galleries. Known as The City Of Bridges, Venice has hundreds to explore. The Accademia Bridge links the San Marco district to the Accademia Gallery, and offers some of the Grand C...
https://www.expedia.com/Ottawa.d178296.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to Ottawa, Ontario, where you’ll find charming old-world buildings surrounded by picturesque natural beauty. The first stop on an Ottawa tour should be the Rideau Canal. This waterway cuts the city in half, and it provides places for boating and paddleboarding during the summer. Visiting in winter? Not a problem—you can go ice skating along the Rideau when it ices over. On the south side of the river, you can see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Parliament Hill. A few blocks to the north is the National Gallery of Canada, a stunning glass-and-granite building full of art from Canadian, European, and other North American artists. You’ll be hungry after all this walking around, so head to ByWard Market. If you...
So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland. Travel video about destination Amsterdam in Holland. Amsterdam is a captivating metropolis, a city of canals in which anything is allowed as long as it does no harm. In 1567, the much-traveled Italian, Lodovico Guicciardini, referred to Amsterdam as 'The Venice of the North'. Today, the view across the main square and royal castle gives little hint that the city is supported by stakes and that Amsterdam is the largest lakeland village in the world. The bicycle is one of the city's main features. Parking spaces have been designed specially for this mode of transport and it shows that even in a large city, there is an alternative way of getting about. In the city centre, there are nearly 7,000 protected houses and warehouses, most of which date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The 3...
