Megalith Grave / Orgy of Carrion - Within The Decadence of Subliminal Rot

Megalith Grave / Orgy of Carrion - Within The Decadence of Subliminal Rot

This is a fucking split, wow! I've been buying a lot of the Defiled Light and Perverse Homage stuff and most of it does it for me, but this is special. The production suits both bands, great riffs, sick vocals, and perfect length. Both sides compliment each other perfectly, rarely achieved by splits. By this point the Perverse Homage circle should be on your radar so I won't beat a dead horse but you all should really hear this.

Kêres - About The Fire

Kêres - About The Fire

The Kêres you know and love. No filler, all stomp. My favorite release from this recent 7" batch from Kuunpalvelus.

Asymmetry - To Blossom In Ether

Asymmetry - To Blossom In Ether

Less straight forward black metal than you'd think. Even a departure from their full length from a few years ago, which I liked a lot.

Ostots - Ezer Ezaren Araztasuna

Ostots - Ezer Ezaren Araztasuna

One man project by means of Spain, also a member of Owl's Blood. This is fairly melodic but still raw, the keyboards add a nice touch. Skjold has my total support. Highly recommended.

Black Twilight - Tyrants Of The Southern Lands

Black Twilight - Tyrants Of The Southern Lands
self released

Very raw black metal from Australia & in the early 2000s. Black Twilight's releases were only released in private editions so they aren't on discogs are you'll probably never hear them. Luckily for us a compilation showed up with a few select cuts from rehearsal tapes, the TOTSL comp tape (which can be found on the internet in various places), and 2 covers (Empire Of Hate cover is cool). Anyways, this isn't for everyone but enjoy.

Bizarre Uproar / Sick Seed - split

Bizarre Uproar / Sick Seed - split

Don't think I have to explain this much, 2 power electronics greats on a split. Also thank you to the person outside that show the other day who helped me remind myself that this page still exists.

Pleasure Island - Golden Rain

Pleasure Island - Golden Rain

2 great things combined - Ascetic House and Pleasure Island (Beyond The Ruins) so you know I have nothing but great things to say about this. The last thing I heard from Pleasure Island was the full length Special Forces on Chondritic Sound which was fantastic by the way. Golden Rain is more to the point and maybe a little harsher than Special Forces. All the tracks build up and flow together nicely. This is great and if you're a fan of power electronics I strongly suggest checking out this and Special Forces.

M. Del Rio - Completely Serious

M. Del Rio - Completely Serious

New one from the man behind Klaxon, Bone Awl, Raspberry Bulbs, Seedstock, etc. This is a lo fi tape of a new project of his. It reminds me of a more stripped down and almost post punky version of Raspberry Bulbs, though there are still black metal and punk elements obviously. At least the first 2 songs, the other 2 are very varied. Even an electronic song. Solid release, I liked this and the flexi he put out recently.

JH1.FS3 - Silence.DOM

JH1.FS3 - Silence.DOM
self released

This is a collaborative project between and Jesse Sanes (Liebestod/Hoax) and Frederikke Hoffmeier (Puce Mary) that is a different project than their other collaborative project Fejhed. This is a little more nosie ala Hair Police and I felt that Fejhed was a little more power electronics - I don't know, maybe I'm splitting hairs. Fans of any of their other electronics projects will obviously enjoy this.

Stillborn Fawn - Norn

Stillborn Fawn - Norn

I thought the newest Bleak Environment seemed a little skimpy since usually they don't put out as long as tapes as these, but with 2 full lengths from Tollund Men and Stillborn Fawn I'm very happy. I like what metal in Colorado is doing with Blood Incantation and especially Spectral Voice (check that out if you haven't). This is no different - 40 minutes of ripping black metal. I love the mid tempo parts, I could definitely slam to those. It's mixed a little weird IMO but whatever, right? The production is raw enough where it doesn't even matter that much. Another great release from Bleak Environment though, well worth the wait between batches of releases for them. The Spectral Voice and Blood Incantation split has been out for a while but you should definitely pick that one up also.

Tollund Men - Autoerotik

Tollund Men - Autoerotik

Finally, a Tollund Men full length! I'll keep this post brief since I haven't fully digested this yet but obviously this is great. "Post-post synth pop" is still the best way to describe this band. I'm happy they finally recorded a full length because every release they've done left me wanting more. This definitely feels like a complete album - definitely a must hear. Total support for Bleak Environment.

Noir Noir - Black Curtain

Noir Noir - Black Curtain

WOW I was not expecting this. I understand that there is samples but you already know I blindly buy all this. I'm reluctant to call this EBM because I'm not super well versed in it besides the obvious choices (ha ha listens to Youth Code once) but this definitely has those vibes - industrial at the very least. Very awesome stuff though, the bass made my room shake which I appreciate. It builds up super nicely with some ambiance to the bigger heavier tracks, especially side B. Then that rager towards the end? A little out of place but I'd probably mosh to that so that's cool. I hate to be a broken record because I say this too much and all I post anymore is Fallow Field stuff, but honestly this Fallow Field release is outstanding and comes at a very high recommendation from me.

Blood Pressure - Need To Control

Blood Pressure - Need To Control

I could only find rips of the promo tape of this which don't sound as good as the record, so here you go. First off, if the Matt Bellosi cover doesn't do it for you then nothing will. Secondly, this is a hardcore ripper and definitely one of the best hardcore records to come out in a while. I don't even post about hardcore on here but this is just too good for people to not hear a high quality rip of. I'm not going to say much else other than if you have any interest in hardcore this is a must hear and own.

Cremation Lily - Pleasure Pier

Cremation Lily - Pleasure Pier

I really like that full length that Cremation Lily put out and this release takes some unreleased material from the time and also puts it with a comp track and the 7" that came out on Harbinger Sound. If you enjoyed his more industrial material from that era of his project then you'll like this. All tracks are fairly noisy and dressed up with synths. If you like this take the time to check out his earlier material, especially Votive Mirror and Fires Frame The Silhouette, as it's all in this vein.

Various Artists - A Group Of Sexual Perverts

Various Artists - A Group Of Sexual Perverts

To keep something hidden from those who love you. Something you've done that you're ashamed of, or something that has happened to you.

All I really have to say is who's on this comp: Deterge, Mania, Vasculae, Purity Of Essence, etc. I think that sold you already, and this probably goes unsaid but this is a tremendous comp! I'm happy to have picked up some of PVD based Bacteria Field's releases and this is a great one to start with. A side is very harsh, while the B side only lets up slightly. I think my favorite track is Jonathan Canady's, super low end heavy, I love it. Not only is the music great but the zine that comes with it comes with great fucked up collage work. Some samples. You should definitely pick this one up though, these guys are the real deal.

FFH - Symbol To Be Forgotten

FFH - Symbol To Be Forgotten

I can't believe it's been almost 3 years since that LP came out.

Fierce power electronics you all should know and love. This is a little more ambient than the LP, which is relentless. I'll keep it short but know that I'm a huge FFH fan and this is a great release. Hopefully FFH starts releasing things more regularly.

Also props to No Rent Records for having a noise hotline you can call and hear releases. Dial 641-715-3900 ext 590622#. That's awesome.

Sickness - Purgatory

Sickness - Purgatory

Recent reissue of a harsh noise release from the NYC edition of Ascetic House. Sickness has done stuff with RRR, Freak Animal, collab with Wolf Eyes on Hospital, etc so you know he's doing something right. This is a reissue from a tape he did in 2013 limited to 25 copies on his label Ninth Circle Music. Very dark and harsh. Mandatory listening for harsh noise fans.

Drew McDowall - Haecceity Deluge

Drew McDowall - Haecceity Deluge

First off let me just say these tapes are dubbed beautifully with amazing artwork and quality. Tape is the perfect medium for a release that sounds this modular. I liked his LP on Dais but this is more live and thus needs a more analog sound. This is a little more dance oriented than that, both are great. I wish I could have seen Drew live in PVD earlier this month since I feel like this translates live even better than this.

Strega - Mezzanotte

Strega - Mezzanotte

I definitely didn't see this one coming. This sounds like JW's take on a soundtrack to a 80s horror movie. I'm not a film buff by any means but if you told me this was from some film I'd believe you. My only point of reference is John Carpenter but this is a little more evil (Lost Themes is actually fantastic, just a little FYI). This is definitely worth checking out though.

SRM - Brick Violation

SRM - Brick Violation

Nasty and nastier. There's a nice riff in here hidden behind layers of filth. Very repetitive yet raging. I like this new LA based label, Love Material, a lot and look forward to picking up whatever else they do.
