Tej Sapru

Tej Sapru is a Bollywood and Television actor. He is the son of D. K. Sapru and Hemvati who were actor and actress in Hindi film industry. His sister Priti Sapru and Reema Rakesh Nath are also actresses of Hindi and Punjabi film industry. Some of Tej's films are Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Mohra, Sirf Tum and Saajan. He has acted in 194 films so far. He is famous for his role in the television miniseries Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli and The Zee Horror Show.

Television career

Sapru has acted in several daily soaps like Qubool Hai, Saat Phere, Tumhari Pakhi, Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli and Palampur Express. Sapru is famous for his portrayal of Amatsya Rakshas in the Dangal TV/Imagine TV historical television series Chandragupta Maurya which depicts the life of great ancient Indian emperor Chandragupta Maurya. He also played role of Greek king Seleucus I Nicator in Colors TV serial Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.

Dilip Kumar

Dilip Kumar (born Muhammad Yusuf Khan on 11 December 1922) is an Indian film actor also known as Tragedy King, and described as "the ultimate method actor" by Satyajit Ray. He debuted as an actor in the film Jwar Bhata in 1944 produced by Bombay Talkies. His career has spanned over six decades and with over 60 films. He starred in films of a variety of genres such as the romantic Andaz (1949), the swashbuckling Aan (1952), the dramatic Devdas (1955), the comical Azaad (1955), the historical Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and the social Ganga Jamuna (1961).

In 1976, Dilip Kumar took a five-year break from film performances and returned with a character role in the film Kranti (1981) and continued his career playing leading roles in films such as Shakti (1982), Karma (1986) and Saudagar (1991). His last film was Qila (1998).

He is the winner of 9 Filmfare Awards and is the first recipient of Filmfare Best Actor Award (1954). He still holds the record for the most number of Filmfare awards won for that category with 8 wins. Critics acclaimed him among one of the greatest actors in the history of Hindi cinema.

Sapru is a clan of Kashmiri Pandits. The majority of the caste is now living in diaspora outside the Kashmir Valley. Most Saprus are Hindus while some are Muslims. Muslim Saprus use the title Sheikh. One of the most famous Muslim Sapru is Muhammad Iqbal, the Pakistani Muslim philosopher and poet.

Meena Kumari

Meena Kumari (1 August 1932 – 31 March 1972), born Mahjabeen Bano, was an Indian film actress and poet. She is regarded as one of the most prominent actresses to have appeared on the screens of Hindi Cinema. During a career spanning 30 years from her childhood to her death, she starred in more than ninety films, many of which have achieved classic and cult status today. She is regarded as one of the geatest Hindi movie actresses of all time.

Kumari gained a reputation for playing grief-stricken and tragic roles, and her performances have been praised and reminisced throughout the years. Like one of her best-known roles, Chhoti Bahu, in Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962), Kumari became addicted to alcohol. Her life and prosperous career were marred by heavy drinking, troubled relationships, an ensuing deteriorating health, and her death from liver cirrhosis in 1972. Kumari is often cited by media and literary sources as "The Tragedy Queen", both for her frequent portrayal of sorrowful and dramatic roles in her films and her real-life story.
