Enforce our laws!
Canada is a welcoming place – we know we have a role in helping those escaping religious persecution and violent dictatorships.
Recently our country has seen an influx of asylum seekers crossing our border from the United States illegally.
While our border agents have done their best to deal with this, we’ve now found out from CBC that "nearly half of the asylum seekers crossing the Manitoba border illegally in the last few weeks are being detained because of serious criminal records."
In fact, a border services officer was allegedly assaulted by an asylum seeker who had been detained for their criminal past!
It’s when Canada’s welcoming nature is taken advantage of that action is needed more than ever.
This latest revelation should be concerning.
These crossings are unsafe, and a burden on local communities.
