Spain (i/ˈspeɪn/; Spanish: España [esˈpaɲa]), officially the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de España), is a sovereign state largely located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, with archipelagos in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, and several small territories on and near the north African coast. Its mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar; to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west and northwest by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Along with France and Morocco, it is one of only three countries to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Extending to 1,214 km (754 mi), the Portugal–Spain border is the longest uninterrupted border within the European Union.
Spanish territory includes two archipelagos: the Balearic Islands, in the Mediterranean Sea, and the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast. It also includes two major exclaves, Ceuta and Melilla, in continental North Africa; and the islands and peñones (rocks) of Alborán, Alhucemas, Chafarinas and Vélez de la Gomera. With an area of 505,990 km2 (195,360 sq mi), Spain is the second largest country in Western Europe and the European Union, and the fourth largest country in Europe. By population, Spain is the sixth largest in Europe and the fifth in the European Union.

On the second day of his official state visit to Spain, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto met Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and the two held talks. During meetings that continued over lunch, the two leaders discussed their bilateral relations, the abdication of Spain's King Juan Carlos, and the current free trade agreement between Mexico and the European Union. At a joint news conference held in the gardens of Madrid's Moncloa Palace, Pena Nieto expressed gratitude for the affection and kindness shown by King Juan Carlos to Mexico. From by-products such as cannabis lollipops and drinks, to specialised clinics and tourism, an entire economy has flourished around the plant, even though its production remains illegal in Spain. Our reporters explored both the public and hidden side of this booming activity. It all began in 2011, when cannabis lovers managed to exploit a flaw in Spain’s anti-smoking legislation allowing them to consume cannabis in enclosed and private spaces. The state has turned a blind eye to these non-profit associations, where only registered members have the rig...

Monthly market comment by the Chief Strategist of Vontobel Christophe Bernard. Having bitten the bullet of austerity and reform, Spain has turned the corner. While much remains to be done, the country’s recovery serves as an example for other problem children of the euro zone. But as in other fragile economies of the European “periphery”, any further improvement will depend on whether voters will continue to support the reform path. The European Central Bank has lowered borrowing costs in an attempt to stimulate economies that use the euro, but what impact might this have in Spain? The widely-expected cut to 0.50% from 0.75% is the first in 10 months, fuelled by concerns about a lack of economic growth and high unemployment in many eurozone nations. From Barcelona, Pascale Harter reports on the outlook for small businesses in the harsh economic climate.

Spain's economy is growing - ever so slightly, rebounding from years of recession, but unemployment remains high at more than 20 percent. This week, the King and Queen of Spain are in Mexico, hoping to shore-up investment opportunities.
PIGS is a term coined by the business and financial press as a way to refer to Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain during their current financial plight. What started as a pejorative label used by neoconservatives, mainly from English speaking countries, was eventually taken up for some time without any qualms by the media. Excessively high levels of public and private debt, government deficits, a property bubble and, generally speaking, very disappointing political and economic policies, have put the PIGS in the crosshairs. It is alleged that the PIGS won’t be able to bear the pressure of sharing a common currency with their stronger European brethren. In this analysis, the forced exit of at least some of the PIGS from the Euro would lead soon to the demise of the European currency. Yet...

Barcelona Barrio: Checking Into Hotel Omm and Checking Out Fiestas de Gracia by Karina Correa for Fathom "Giant paellas, infinite tables on the street, rooftop cocktails. We made a two-minute video for Fathom about Hotel Omm and Fiestas de Gracia" When we heard that Karina Correa and Petrit Pula, owners of NYC tapas bar BIKINIS, were heading to Barcelona, we asked if they could take us along. Instead, they took their camera — Karina is a filmmaker by trade — checked into the Hotel Omm, then checked out the neighborhood. The result: a charming two-minute film about Omm and the Gracia district. BARCELONA – String together a bustling Barcelona cafe, an old-school New York diner, and a little East Village attitude, and you'll end up at Bikinis, the Manhattan bar we opened in 2011 with a fe...

2013. "DECASA". Channel branding. Canal Decasa is the fourth channel LUMBRE has tackled for Spain’s Chello Multicanal. You can check out what we did for Sol Musica, Canal Cocina and XTRM on our website and social media networks. Canal Decasa is the first and only lifestyle channel on pay television in Spain and is dedicated to the finest in décor, beauty, fashion, health and leisure. We spent a year working on Spanish broadcast design using a wide variety of techniques and styles. We re-imagined Sol Musica in 2D cell animation, but felt that live action with vector graphics better reflected Canal Cocina. XTRM called for hyper-realistic 3D and now we are throwing photo collage into the mix with Canal Decasa. We love the challenge and feel pretty confident that Chello Multicanal will run...

Transcription: In the midst of an economic crisis which is being used as an excuse to carry through endless social cuts, the conservative People's Party government in Spain aims to impose a new abortion law, even more restrictive than the first in 1985. This project is being carried out with no regard for the majority opinion of the population and under the supervision of an expert's commission composed exclusively of men, with only the support of the more reactionary sectors of the Catholic Church. Victor Barrio, a Spanish bullfighter was gored to death by a bull in front of spectators at a corrida on Saturday. The incident was captured live on television.
40 people were injured in northern Spain on Wednesday when a raging bull jumped into the packed grandstands of a bullring and ran amok. The terrifying incident happened in Tafalla, in the northern region of Navarra, and occurred when the animal leapt over the fence and climbed up the stairs of the stands knocking over people, including young children.
Outdoor Recreation, Sports, and activities in Spain. Rock climbing, spelunking, wind surfing, quads, paratriking, white water rafting, snow boarding, horse back riding, canyon descending, kayaking, snorkeling, caving
Bull leaping dates back to Antiquity, when the bull was considered a sacred animal. Recortes (bull leaping) in Spain has been practised since at least the 18th century, and continues to grow in popularity as Spain moves away from bullfighting. I leave it to you to decide whether this is an acceptable alternative. Thank you for all your comments and yes the music is naff.

'So crazy, it just might actually work.' That's the only thing you can imagine was going through Horacio Llorens and Hernan Pitocco's heads when they dreamed up this slingshot stunt. After a rather creative exit from a hot-air balloon at nearly 5,000m, the pair (who were harnessed to each other in a tandem paraglider) started an infinity tumble – a high-G inverted manoeuvre, repeated multiple times. Then, they slingshotted themselves away from the paragalider to skydive down to earth at a ski resort high in the Pyrenees. For three epic days each year, Florence’s central square hosts an ancient sport where teams of men kick, punch and pummel their way to glory. Produced by David Airob, Jose Bautista and David Ramos for Narratively's "Redemption" week. (March 31, 2014). http://narrative.ly/redemption/the-gladiators-of-calcio-storico/ Description: An early form of football, the official rules of calcio storico fiorentino were first written in 1580 by Count Giovanni de Bardi. Originally played for rich aristocrats, even popes were known to play calcio at times. The field is a giant sandpit with a narrow slit of a goal running the width of each end, while twenty-seven players make up each team, and the ball can be hit with feet or hands. by Football HD 1-0 Saul Niguez 1-1 Bernardeschi 2-0 Saul Niguez 3-0 Saul Niguez Spain are through to the European U21 Championship final against Germany after Saul Niguez's hat-trick gave them a 3-1 win over Italy. Niguez opened the scoring in the second half (53) with a fine touch and finish on the edge of the box, before Italy's Gagliardini was sent off for a second booking moments later. But Italy levelled on 62 minutes through Federico Bernardeschi's deflected effort from range, but Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul hit a superb second from 30 yards into the top corner just three minutes later.

Macedonia vs Spain 1-2 - All Goals & Highlights - World Cup Qualifiers 11/06/2017 HD 0-1 Silva 0-2 Costa 1-2 Ristovski Spain will look to maintain their bid to qualify automatically for the 2018 FIFA World Cup when they travel to Macedonia on Sunday. La Roja are ahead of Italy on goal difference in Group G, but with the Azzurri likely to beat Liechtenstein handsomely in their fixture on Sunday, Spain will want to do the same against their opponents. The clash between Spain and Italy in September is likely to decide which of the two teams finishes top of the group, but if the pair draw—as they did in their first meeting—goal difference could well be crucial. Read on for a preview of the match, but first, a look at the schedule.

Hertha Berlin full-back Mitchell Weiser scored the only goal of the game five minutes before the half-time break to secure victory for Stefan Kuntz's young side. Macedonia vs Spain 1-2 - All Goals & Highlights - World Cup Qualifiers 11/06/2017 HD 0-1 Silva 0-2 Costa 1-2 Ristovski Macedonia managed to extend their unbeaten streak with an unexpected draw at home to Turkey on Monday, following on from victories against Belarus and Liechtenstein back in March. Prior to that they had lost five games in a row, and whilst they are in no position to challenge for qualification to the World Cup next summer it’s an undoubted improvement from them. The hosts currently sit 5th in their group with three points from a possible 15, but after their recent run of form they will be hopeful of adding to that tally over the next five matches. It’s fair to say that they’re unlikely to add any points on Sunday though. They go up against a Spain side who sit at the ...

Spanish Commentary By Football HD 0-1 David Silva 0-2 Deulofeu Spain beat France 2-0 at the Stade de France on Tuesday night in a friendly dominated by the intervention of the Video Assistant Referee. The visitors took the spoils thanks to second-half goals from David Silva, via the penalty spot, and substitute Gerard Deulofeu. However, Deulofeu's strike had originally been disallowed for offside, only for the Video Assistant Referee - a system being trialled by FIFA - to then intervene to overrule the assistant referee's decision. Video technology was also used to chalk off an Antoine Griezmann header at the start of the second period for offside against Layvin Kurzawa. Taken in the central highlands of Spain, the autonomous regions Castilla-La-Mancha and Castilla-y-Léon. A region full of history and culture: The Goths, Romans and Moors have left their marks here. Don Quijote has fighted against the windmills here. This was the place of residence of El Greco, Diego de Velazquez and Francisco de Goya. The first time I've taken my dolly with traveling. It did a really good job. This was my first time out of the United States. This video was the feeling I got while in Spain. The layers and layers of history everywhere the eyes turned gave the sense of mystery and exciting eeriness. I went to Barcelona, Seville, Cadiz, and Madrid. Shot on naked little Canon HV40 (no lens adapters, tripods, rigs, or any of that stuff). Edited with Sony Vegas. Canal +, the most watched paid channel in Spain, choose Plenty to develop their on-air image after a working on a taught pitch. But this time didn't work alone! We had the fortune to work with the beautiful off-air image created by Erretres, together with the great work of Canal+ creative team and D3 agency. Our goal was to renew the bond and connection between more than 14 channels of the antenna and their audience through multiple on-air and online / digital actions and social networks apps. With the inner elements of the social network like hashtags, tags, memes and emoticons we developed a close connection between the channel and the audience that has become a trusted community, the Community +. Next you will see a extensive development of the TV Branding based on very simple graphic...
Follow on: https://facebook.com/TSOphotography for more photos, videos and updates. This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide. Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories. The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I a...
After many hours of hard work, throughout continental Spain (I leave the islands for the next time), I managed to edit this short film about the birds of my beloved country. Living and working in the richest European country regarding birds, I tried to film some of the Spanish specialities, mainly for non-Spanish birders. With so many different habitats and species, I had to move, driving to special locations sometimes separated more than 1000 km. The good thing was that after so many years birdwatching and working with birds, I really knew pretty well where to look for... http://archive.nandocosta.com/Titles-for-Mad-in-Spain-Festival I have recently produced this title sequence for the Madrid based event "Mad in Spain". The typographic elements are actually ceramic-based vintage lettering, which was hand-painted and later filmed in natural scenery. The intention was to depict very distinct elements as part of the same ecosystem, similarly to the various distinct speakers coming together for the event. Below is a link to a short behind the scenes video that illustrates some of the process. The project was shot using various lenses, but mainly a 14mm, 16-35mm, 50mm and a 100mm macro on a Canon 5D using the Dynamic Perception dolly. vimeo.com/40040586 For new video updates, follow me at https://twitter.com/nandocosta_work Director: Nando Costa Animation: ...

I got a message tonight
It was on my machine
She said, I quote,
'Hope you're not asleep
'Cause I'm in my bed
And the lights are dim
And the air is hot
So won't you come on in
I got a message tonight
It was on my machine
But I got home too late
I couldn't even see
That the stars above
Deter me from love
'Cause she's in her bed
And the lights are dim
And the air is hot
So won't you come on in
