Tragic Injury at the Carnival Magic Water Park

UPDATE VIDEO HERE: https://youtu.be/rErMJtl9v4s We were in the middle of filming a fun video at the Carnival Magic water park, "Waterworks" (we still plan to show the video of all the fun things aboard the ship) when tragedy struck. We were playing in the lower level kids area at the kid-powered water place. I noticed that the pressure was REALLY strong, and Matt even stood in the path of the water and said it almost hurt to stand too close. A few moments later, while I was recording, Zac went to go look in the hole while David was at the wheel. I yelled NO NO NO but it was too late. I watched it unfold in front of my eyes and I felt frozen, although i wished to jump over and get between Zac and the water. As a parent, this was probably one of the most horrifying moments of my life! My first thought was that Zac was going to be blind. I can't be more thankful than I am that he can see still!! We were seen on board by doctors and nurses and it was recommended that we visit an eye surgeon at the next port. The cruise ship doctor was worried about muscle damage because his eyes weren't going in the same direction and one pupil was way bigger than the other. We have not at this time had our final followup appointment to confirm that Zac is 100% in the clear, but after our visit with the surgeon on Grand Cayman, I am confident he will be fine. Although this accident occurred because the water pressure on the cruise ship play area was WAY too strong, I give credit to Carnival for changing the play area within just a couple of days during our cruise to make it safer for other kids. I also felt that the doctors aboard the ship that worked on Zac were so kind and loving towards him. We had at least 4-5 appointments with them and really grew to love them.
