The Ghetto Brothers were a gang (or club) and music group founded in New York City's South Bronx in the late 1960s. The gang eventually spread to much of the Northeastern United States. Like the Young Lords, they were involved in Puerto Rican nationalism, including, in the case of the Ghetto Brothers, an association with the then-new Puerto Rican Socialist Party.
The name Ghetto Brothers was chosen by Hui Cambrelen one of the original founders along with Ray delaVega and Benji Melendez. Benjamin Melendez, who left the organization in 1976, was also known as a guitarist. He led a band, also known as the Ghetto Brothers, which included his late brother Victor Melendez on bass. They released one album Ghetto Brothers - Power-Fuerza in 1971, which had only informal, local distribution. It has since been re-released on CD.
The Ghetto Brothers, especially in their early years, had a reputation as one of the more politically minded and less vengeful of New York-area gangs. After Cornell "Black Benjy" Benjamin was killed in 1971 trying to prevent a fight between two rival gangs, the Ghetto Brothers did not seek the expected revenge on those responsible for his death. Instead, under Melendez's leadership (and that of Carlos Antonio Suarez, also known as Carlos Melendez), they were instrumental in achieving a moderately successful truce among South Bronx and other New York-area gangs at the Hoe Avenue peace meeting which occurred December 7, 1971.
A Brother is the male offspring of one's parent.
The term brother comes from the Proto-Indo-European *bʰréh₂tēr, which becomes Latin frater, of the same meaning. Sibling warmth, or sibling affect between male siblings has been correlated to some more negative effects. In pairs of brothers higher sibling warmth is related to more risk taking behaviour although risk taking behaviour is not related to sibling warmth in any other type of sibling pair. The cause of this phenomenon in which sibling warmth is only correlated with risk taking behaviours in brother pairs still is unclear. This finding does, however, suggest that although sibling conflict is a risk factor for risk taking behaviour, sibling warmth does not serve as a protective factor. Some studies suggest that girls having an older brother delays the onset of menarche by roughly one year.
A ghetto is a part of a city in which members of a minority group live, especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure. The term was originally used in Venice to describe the part of the city to which Jews were restricted and segregated.
The English word ghetto comes from the Jewish area of Venice, the Venetian Ghetto in Cannaregio. However, there is no agreement among etymologists about the origins of the Venetian language term. The Oxford University Press etymologist Anatoly Liberman considers that all the proposed etymologies for the Venetian name are wrong, and suggests a possible connection with German Gasse, Swedish Gata, Gothic Gatwo, meaning street. Among the theories that Liberman rejects are the following: getto (foundry), as ge- and ghe- have very different pronunciations in Italy, and the area would logically have been called "getti", foundries, in the plural; borghetto, diminutive of borgo, meaning little town, a nonspecific term; and the Hebrew word get, a divorce document, with no connection to "a place of forced separation".
8 Million Stories is the first studio album by American hip hop duo Soul Position. It was released on October 7, 2003 on Fat Beats Records, under license from Rhymesayers Entertainment. An instrumental version of the album entitled 8 Million Stories: Instrumentals was also released.
Rollie Pemberton of Pitchfork Media gave the album a 7.5 out of 10, saying, "it's obvious that this amalgam between one of the most promising rappers in the underground and the most in-demand producer in the industry is a winning combination."
Ghetto refers to a portion of a city in which members of a minority group live.

8 Million Stories, a series of short video portraits of New Yorkers. Enjoy! Born in 1952 in Puerto Rico, Benjamin “Yellow Benjy” Melendez spent his younger years in downtown Manhattan before moving with his family to the South Bronx. Despite growing up in a strict household where Judaism was practiced in secret, Benjy joined his first gang at an early age. As a natural born leader Benjy founded his own gang, the Ghetto Brothers. Ultimately Benjy became one of the most powerful gang leaders in the Bronx. And probably New York City. In December 1971, Black Benjy, one of Yellow Benjy’s closest friends and a high-ranking Ghetto Brother, was killed while trying to broker a truce between rival gangs. Instead of retaliating the Ghetto Brothers decided to go in a different direction. Benjy’s ...
8 Million Stories, a series of short video portraits of New Yorkers. Enjoy! Here in Episode 1, community activist Bill Leicht tells the story of how he began working with the Ghetto Brothers, one of the largest Bronx street gang of the 1970’s. Bill was introduced to Benjamin ”Yellow Benjy” Melendez, one of the founding members of the Ghetto Brothers, by Evelina Antonetty of the United Bronx Parents. Eventually, Bill became the eldest member of the Ghetto Brothers, witnessing first-hand their struggle to transition from street gang to community group. Bill also offers his perspective on the almost mythical Hoe Avenue Peace Meeting. The Ghetto Brothers mentioned in this piece is the same group that released the ”Power Fuerza” album on Salsa Records in the early 70’s. Bill Leicht is still ...

Never before seen video provided exclusively to Infowars shows President Barack Obama complaining about white privilege during a 1990 trip to Kenya. (go to 14:40 for comments on race). The footage, filmed and narrated by Obama’s sister Auma, shows the president on his first trip to Kenya as a young man in his 20s. Michelle Obama also accompanied her husband on the trip. Crowdfunding platform WeSearchr (https://www.wesearchr.com/) provided the video exclusively to Infowars. Obama says in the film: "I’m deeply saddened by a sense that whites are still superior in this country, in some sense, that if you sit at a restaurant, they’re served before a Kenyan is served. If you go through customs, a white person is going to have an easier time going through customs." Obama also warns that “thi...
