12月10日にニューアルバム『ARCHE（アルケー）』を発売するロックバンド・DIR EN GREYのドラム・Shinyaが、いまニョキっときている注目のタレントに迫るインタビュー番組『水曜のニョッキ』に登場。
3年4か月ぶりとなるアルバムだが、「あまり長かったという感覚がなくて、むしろあっという間で時間がないと感じたくらい」というShinya。ギリシャ語で「根源」を意味する「ARCHE」をアルバムタイトルにしたことについては、「昔っぽいこともやってみたり、ちょっと原点に立ち返ろうという気持ちがあったので」と明かした。
結成以来、“痛み”をバンドの表現の核にし、ヘヴィーでダークなサウンドやビジュアルが特徴的なDIR EN GREY。自身が聴く音楽は「ポップだったりメロディアスな音楽も好きです。ジャニーズで育ったので」というShinyaに好きなジャニーズのグループを訊ねると「光GENJIですね。音楽に目覚めたきっかけです」と告白。アイドルになりたいとは思わなかったのだろうか？「小学生の時、ちょっとだけ憧れましたね。その後、すぐにバンドに目覚めたので実現しませんでしたが」とはにかんだ。

Dir En Grey
Dir En Grey (stylized as DIR EN GREY and previously as Dir en grey) is a Japanese metal band formed in 1997 and currently signed to Firewall Div., a sub-division of Free-Will. As of 2014, they have recorded nine full-length records with a lineup consistent since its inception. Numerous stylistic changes have made the genre of their music difficult to determine, though it is generally considered to be a form of metal. Originally a visual kei band, the band has opted for less dramatic attire in recent years.
History
1997–1999: Early career
Dir En Grey was preceded by the independent rock band La:Sadie's, which included four of Dir En Grey's members before it ended activities. They disbanded due to leader and bassist Kisaki not wanting to debut as he felt that it was too soon, but guitarist Kaoru believed that they were ready for it. After parting ways with Kisaki, Kaoru, Kyo, Die and Shinya recruited bassist Toshiya and regrouped as a new band on February 2, 1997. They released their first EP, Missa, a few months later. According to Toshiya, the name "Dir En Grey" was chosen because it "sounded right" and is composed of words from several languages so that people would not be able to attach a specific meaning to it other than the band's name itself. However, in another interview Kaoru said "At the time we chose the band name, it had some meaning but right now it doesn’t express the band anymore, so it has come to not mean anything specific. We chose the band name because it sounded right, and it also reflects an image that probably doesn’t exist elsewhere."

In September 2010 I visited Japan. There, I met Dan Herbertson and Dean Marchand. Together we visited some of our favourite MMA stars to talk with them and shoot video.
This is Shinya Aoki, Dream lightweight champion.
We spoke of a lot of things, some of which are no longer relevant due to the time that has passed since the interview. Aoki himself was also a little hesitant, as he is known to be with a lot of western media. However, once the interview was 'over', he seemed to really loosen up and we had a good discussion about Japanese and American MMA, how much he loves the UFC, who is favourite fighters are and his opinion on 'wrestle-boxers'.
I hope Western fans will enjoy seeing another side of Aoki. Once we began talking about MMA, it was clear that he was very passionate and knowledgeable on the subject.

short movie created in march 2010 by maximilian kutzer / max vegas & tim glaser (auteurs). it follows the inspiration within a c(o)urse about cinematic possession at the university of constance under the guidance of prof. albert kümmel-schnur.
it is a meta mash up between mash-uped web-published (e.g. youtube) flicks, digital copies of movies and own-filmed material (on miniDV), in which the world of possessed flicks is crashed into a flicker collision with an interviewed point of view, a brief close-up at mr. heinz baumgartner - who's a film projectionist in the zebra cinema (take a look at http://zebra-kino.de/ !), a small, but superb art and underground cinema in constance at the lake of constance, southern germany - under the visual influence of a flickering cinematic screen.
all of the flicker frequencies, so the whole precision-cut in detail, is oriented towards the dream machine, a visual idea, concept & construction by the great brion gysin.
this short movie has never been accepted in the small number of submissions towards film festivals, e.g. the berlinale 2011. so, fuck these festivals, and let the flick(er) be freed and gripped, whereto they belong - into the freedom of mind, perception, your reception and into the world wide web. feel free to share, copy and comment. feel free to discuss. and fuck off copyright - just copy right.

short movie created in march 2010 by maximilian kutzer / max vegas & tim glaser (auteurs). it follows the inspiration within a c(o)urse about cinematic possession at the university of constance under the guidance of prof. albert kümmel-schnur.
it is a meta mash up between mash-uped web-published (e.g. youtube) flicks, digital copies of movies and own-filmed material (on miniDV), in which the world of possessed flicks is crashed into a flicker collision with an interviewed point of view, a brief close-up at mr. heinz baumgartner - who's a film projectionist in the zebra cinema (take a look at http://zebra-kino.de/ !), a small, but superb art and underground cinema in constance at the lake of constance, southern germany - under the visual influence of a flickering cinematic screen.
all of the flicker frequencies, so the whole precision-cut in detail, is oriented towards the dream machine, a visual idea, concept & construction by the great brion gysin.
this short movie has never been accepted in the small number of submissions towards film festivals, e.g. the berlinale 2011. so, fuck these festivals, and let the flick(er) be freed and gripped, whereto they belong - into the freedom of mind, perception, your reception and into the world wide web. feel free to share, copy and comment. feel free to discuss. and fuck off copyright - just copy right.
