Mount Hiei (比叡山, Hiei-zan) is a mountain to the northeast of Kyoto, lying on the border between the Kyoto and Shiga prefectures, Japan.
The temple of Enryaku-ji, the first outpost of the Japanese Tendai (Chin. Tiantai) sect of Buddhism, was founded atop Mount Hiei by Saichō in 788. Hōnen, Nichiren, and Shinran all studied at the temple before leaving to start their own practices. The temple complex was razed by Oda Nobunaga in 1571 to quell the rising power of the Tendai's warrior monks (sōhei), but it was rebuilt and remains the Tendai headquarters to this day.
The Imperial Japanese Navy 19th Century corvette Hiei was named after this mountain, as was the more famous World War II-era battleship Hiei, the latter having initially been built as a battlecruiser.
Mount Hiei has featured in many folk tales over the ages. Originally it was thought to be the home of gods and demons of Shinto lore, although it is predominantly known for the Buddhist monks that come from the temple of Enryaku-ji.
A demon is a malevolent being in mythology or occultism.
Demon or daemon may also refer to:
Shiga Prefecture (滋賀県, Shiga-ken) is a prefecture of Japan, which forms part of the Kansai region in the western part of Honshu island. It encircles Lake Biwa, the largest freshwater lake in Japan. The capital is Ōtsu.
Shiga was known as Ōmi Province or Gōshū before the prefectural system was established. Omi was a neighbor of Nara and Kyoto, at the junction of western and eastern Japan. During the period 667 to 672, Emperor Tenji founded a palace in Otsu. In 742, Emperor Shōmu founded a palace in Shigaraki. In the early Heian Period, Saichō was born in the north of Otsu and founded Enryaku-ji, the center of Tendai and one a UNESCO World Heritage Site and monument of Ancient Kyoto now.
In the Medieval Period, the Sasaki clan ruled Omi, and afterward the Rokkaku clan, Kyōgoku clan and Azai clans ruled Omi. In the 1570s, Oda Nobunaga subjugated Omi and built Azuchi Castle on the eastern shores of Lake Biwa in 1579. Tōdō Takatora, Gamō Ujisato, Oichi, Yodo-dono, Ohatsu and Oeyo were Omi notables in the Sengoku Period. In those times, Ninja were active in Kōka (See also Kōga-ryū).
The Sakamoto Cable (坂本ケーブル, Sakamoto Kēburu), officially the Hieizan Railway Line (比叡山鉄道線, Hieizan Tetsudō-sen), is a Japanese funicular line in Ōtsu, Shiga. It is the only line Hieizan Railway (比叡山鉄道, Hieizan Tetsudō) operates. The line opened in 1927, as an eastern route to Enryaku-ji, a famous temple on Mount Hiei. This is the longest funicular line in Japan.

Sakamoto Cable Railway is categorized as a "inclined cliff (funicular)" railway, in which the the cable car is dragged up a mountain using cable. You will see quite a few cable railways of this type in Japan (both small and big) because it is a country with many mountains. The Sakamoto Cable Railway has the distinction of being the longest (2 km) of this type of railway in Japan. While the mountain top height is only 1500 feet (500 meters) you can imagine it is a pretty good view from there. Mt. Hiei or Hieizan as it is called in Japanese has access from both the Kyoto prefecture side and Shiga prefecture side. Hieizan has been and still is one of the sacred places in Japan as it is the headquarters of the Tendai sect of Japanese Buddhism and has a sprawling Enryakuji Temple. Hope yo...

There is no way that politics or economy can go well in such an environment... I want to tell people living today to live with empathy and compassion:" Sakai Yūsai's maxim: "Live each day as if it were your whole life." "Don't get wrapped u...

Enryakuji Temple (延暦寺) is located on top Mt. Hiei (over three thousand feet from sea level) in Shiga Prefecture in Japan. Mt. Hiei also touches Kyoto prefecture on the east side but mostly this temple is considered part of Shiga prefecture. Enryakuji temple and it's precincts on Mt. Hiei (Hieizan) are designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Both the temples in Hieizan and temples in Koyasan are considered two of the most sacred sites for Buddhists. I went there twice, once in winter and once in summer, I have included the video footage of the winter trip and slide montage of the summer trip. Enjoy!!!

Yoshiminedera is a temple of the Tendai sect of Japanese Buddhism located in Kyoto's western mountains. As well as Kiyomizudera located on the opposite side of town, Yoshiminedera is also built along the mountain side and overlooks the city of Kyoto. The temple grounds are spacious and up the mountain side is dotted with many buildings. A priest from Enryakuji, named Gesan, founded Yoshiminedera as a personal retreat in 1029. In 1467 the temple was destroyed in the Onin War but was reconstructed in 1621. There are two temple's main objects of worship; one is a Kannon statue carved by Gesan and another is a Kannon statue given to the temple by Emperor Gosuzaku in 1042. 【The Best Savings--Ultimate Japan Coupon Site Moopon】 Official Website : https://moopon.jp?lang=english facebook:https...

"It was a dark and stormy night..."
You smacked her right between her blue eyes
You didn't think ahead yeah that's what he said
Then everyone of us just turned our backs to him and said
That was not a nice thing to do
I can't believe he was so cruel
But you love your brothers no matter what they say
Yeah you love your brothers no matter what kind of games you play
And it's gonna rain - that's what they say
But we're just gonna cover our heads
And we ain't coming out until we're dead
Oh no
And It's gonna drown all of our sins
But we don't wanna loose what we got
No we don't wanna loose what we own oh no
This stinking alley's full of old cats and dogs
They got no money and they got no home
Once I was one of them but now I'm on my own
It feels so good to be an outlaw
In your perfect world
'Cause you love your brothers no matter what they say
Yeah you love your brothers no matter what kind of games you play
And it's gonna rain - that's what they say
But we're just gonna cover our heads
And we ain't coming out until we're dead
Oh no
And it's gonna drown all of our sins
But we don't want to loose what we got
No we don't want to loose what we own oh no
And it's gonna rain and thats for sure
Yeah it's gonna rain and that's for shure
It's gonna rain and that's for sure
