If you are going to grab a drink in Shinjuku, the best place to do so is Shinjuku's Golden Gai, which is a small area in Shinjuku filled with over 200 shanty-style bars. These small crammed bars are a great place to pick up a drink and chat with the locals. Many of the bars have a cover charge from about 500 to 1000 yen and the drink prices are a little bit on the pricey side, but the atmosphere of these quiant little places is not to be missed.

Shinjuku Golden Gai (新宿ゴールデン街?) is a small area of Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan,[1] famous both as an area of architectural interest and for its nightlife. It is composed of a network of six narrow alleys, connected by even narrower passageways which are just about wide enough for a single person to pass through. Over 200 tiny shanty-style bars, clubs and eateries[2] are squeezed into this area.
Golden Gai was known for prostitution before 1958, when prostitution became illegal. Since then it has developed as a drinking area, and at least some of the bars can trace their origins back to the 1960s.[2] In the 1980s, many buildings in Tokyo were set on fire by Yakuza, so the land could be bought up by developers,[6] but Golden Gai survived because some of its supporters took turns to guard the area at night.[6]

May 20, 2016. It was a fun day, I finally got to ride a bike around the city. I rode all over town, it didn't look like ti because it was hard to record while riding while maneuvering through the crazy Tokyo traffic. Shame I couldn't bike through the Shinjuku Goyen Garden, I bet it would be a perfect place for a bike. Then I got to see a district in Shinjuku known as Golden Gai, a network of 200 mini bars stacked up on top one another. Rumor has it that the Chainsaw Massacre themed one is a bar Quinten Tarientino frequents. When the group thinned out we went to some more touristy bars in the red light district. Despite my best efforts to make it back before the last train I ended up homeless for the night. I technically made the lasts train, but missed my stop. It was a 2 and a half hour walk home, a 50 dollar taxi ride, or just wait for the first train. I chose the last one. Never again though.I completely forgot about Ichiran Ramen. It definitely lives up to the hype. Best. Tonkatsu. Ever.

La nostra ricerca ci porta da "Nagi", un locale di Ramen che a giudicare dalla fila fuori si mangia un gran bene! ;)

Back in Tokyo! We go straight in Shinjuku, the neighborhood that never sleep.
But the hunger calls and before to see the neighborhood we dash in a characteristic area called Golden Gai: a series of very tight street full of small bars and restaurants.. Only in this area we count more 200 of them.
Our journey bring us to "Nagi", a ramen restaurant in which, judging by queue outdoor, the food is very good! ;)
But above all, follow Valerio's valuable advices about eating ramen in a truly jap-style and you will never make a bad impression! ;)

Streetscape
Golden Gai is a few minutes walk from the East Exit of Shinjuku Station, between the Shinjuku City Office and the Hanazono Shrine. Its architectural importance is that it provides a view into the relatively recent past of Tokyo, when large parts of the city resembled present-day Golden Gai, particularly in terms of the extremely narrow lanes and the tiny two-story buildings. Nowadays, most of the surrounding area has been redeveloped: The street plans have been changed to create much wider roads and larger building plots, and most of the buildings themselves are now much larger high- or medium- rise developments. This has left Golden Gai as one of a decreasing number of examples of the nature of Tokyo before Japan’s “economic miracle”, that took place in the latter half of the 20th century.

If you are going to grab a drink in Shinjuku, the best place to do so is Shinjuku's Golden Gai, which is a small area in Shinjuku filled with over 200 shanty-style bars. These small crammed bars are a great place to pick up a drink and chat with the locals. May 20, 2016. It was a fun day, I finally got to ride a bike around the city. I rode all over town, it didn't look like ti because it was hard to record while riding while maneuvering through the crazy Tokyo traffic. Shame I couldn't bike through the Shinjuku Goyen Garden, I bet it would be a perfect place for a bike. Then I got to see a district in Shinjuku known as Golden Gai, a network of 200 mini bars stacked up on top one another. Rumor has it that the Chainsaw Massacre themed one is a bar Quinten Tarientino frequents. When the group thinned out we went to some more touristy bars in the red light district. Despite my best efforts to make it back before the last train I ended up homeless for the night. I technically made the lasts train, but missed my stop. It was a 2 and a half hour walk home, a 50 dollar taxi ride, or just wait for the first train. I chose the last one. Never again though.I completely forgot about Ichiran Ramen. It definitely lives up to the hype. Best. Tonkatsu. Ever.

Back in Tokyo! We go straight in Shinjuku, the neighborhood that never sleep.
But the hunger calls and before to see the neighborhood we dash in a characteristic area called Golden Gai: a series of very tight street full of small bars and restaurants.. Only in this area we count more 200 of them.
Our journey bring us to "Nagi", a ramen restaurant in which, judging by queue outdoor, the food is very good! ;)
But above all, follow Valerio's valuable advices about eating ramen in a truly jap-style and you will never make a bad impression! ;)

Best Place to Drink near Kabukicho in Shinjuku: Golden Gai!
If you are going to grab a drink in Shinjuku, the best place to do so is Shinjuku's Golden Gai, which is a small area in Shinjuku filled with over 200 shanty-style bars. These small crammed bars are a great place to pick up a drink and chat with the locals. Many of the bars have a cover charge from about 500 to 1000 yen and the drink prices are a little bit on the pricey side, but the atmosphere of these quiant little places is not to be missed. Shinjuku Golden Gai (新宿ゴールデン街?) is a small area of Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan,[1] famous both as an area of architectural interest and for its nightlife. It is composed of a network of six narrow alleys, connected by even narrower passageways which are just about wide enough for a single person to pass through. Over 200 tiny shanty-style bars, clubs and eateries[2] are squeezed into this area. Golden Gai was known for prostitution before 1958, when prostitution became illegal. Since then it has developed as a drinking area, and at least some of the bars can trace their origins back to the 1960s.[2] In the 1980s, many buildings in Tokyo were set on fire by Yakuza, so the land could be bought up by developers,[6] but Golden Gai survived because some of its supporters took turns to guard the area...

Golden Gai in Shinjuku is a very fascinating window into the near past of the great city of Tokyo. It has resisted redevelopment and is a reminder of the narrow alleys and small houses that used to dominate the city. Found in Shinjuku-ku down a small forested path it is one of the gems of this city. But with the rise of Tripadvisor and the like it is now being overrun (in summer at least) by tourists. It has resisted redevelopment and is a reminder of the narrow alleys and small houses that used to dominate the city. Found in Shinjuku-ku down a small forested path it is one of the gems of this city. But with the rise of Tripadvisor and the like it is now being overrun (in summer at least) by tourists.

Don't Miss Out- Subscribe!! May 20, 2016. It was a fun day, I finally got to ride a bike around the city. I rode all over town, it didn't look like ti because it was hard to record while riding while maneuvering through the crazy Tokyo traffic. Shame I couldn't bike through the Shinjuku Goyen Garden, I bet it would be a perfect place for a bike. Then I got to see a district in Shinjuku known as Golden Gai, a network of 200 mini bars stacked up on top one another. Rumor has it that the Chainsaw Massacre themed one is a bar Quinten Tarientino frequents. When the group thinned out we went to some more touristy bars in the red light district. Despite my best efforts to make it back before the last train I ended up homeless for the night. I technically made the lasts train, but missed my stop. ...

May 20, 2016. It was a fun day, I finally got to ride a bike around the city. I rode all over town, it didn't look like ti because it was hard to record while riding while maneuvering through the crazy Tokyo traffic. Shame I couldn't bike through the Shinjuku Goyen Garden, I bet it would be a perfect place for a bike. Then I got to see a district in Shinjuku known as Golden Gai, a network of 200 mini bars stacked up on top one another. Rumor has it that the Chainsaw Massacre themed one is a bar Quinten Tarientino frequents. When the group thinned out we went to some more touristy bars in the red light district. Despite my best efforts to make it back before the last train I ended up homeless for the night. I technically made the lasts train, but missed my stop. It was a 2 and a half hour walk home, a 50 dollar taxi ride, or just wait for the first train. I chose the last one. Never again though.I completely forgot about Ichiran Ramen. It definitely lives up to the hype. Best. Tonkatsu. Ever.

Ma la fame chiama e prima di visitare il quartiere ci fiondiamo in una particolare zona chiamata Golden Gai: Una serie di strettissime vie ripiena di piccolissimi locali e ristoranti...solo qui se ne contano oltre 200!
La nostra ricerca ci porta da "Nagi", un locale di Ramen che a giudicare dalla fila fuori si mangia un gran bene! ;)
Ma soprattutto, seguite i preziosi consigli di Valerio su come si deve mangiare Ramen in un vero jap style e non farete mai brutta figura! ;)

Back in Tokyo! We go straight in Shinjuku, the neighborhood that never sleep.
But the hunger calls and before to see the neighborhood we dash in a characteristic area called Golden Gai: a series of very tight street full of small bars and restaurants.. Only in this area we count more 200 of them.
Our journey bring us to "Nagi", a ramen restaurant in which, judging by queue outdoor, the food is very good! ;)
But above all, follow Valerio's valuable advices about eating ramen in a truly jap-style and you will never make a bad impression! ;)

Una salida estilo nocturna con seguidores que nos vinieron a visitar! Despues de la salida al yoyogi, nos fuimos a Shinjuku a encontrarnos con Miguel, Yamila y Agustin. Dimos una vueltita por Kabukicho, el barrio famoso por el juego Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza saga) lleno de negocios de servicios para adultos. Luego pasamos por el Golden Gai a pocas cuadras, donde se ubica el micro barrio de mini bares de todo tipo. Yakuza 0 is a open world, action-adventure video game and is also a prequel to the Yakuza series of video games, developed and published by Sega. The game takes place in December 1988 in Kamurocho, a fictionalized recreation of Tokyo's Kabukicho and Shinjuku Golden Gai areas and Sotenbori, a fictionalized recreation of Osaka's Dotonbori.
In December, 1988, two unlikely figures from the Yakuza world, Kazuma Kiryu of the Kantō region and Goro Majima of the Kansai Region, have suddenly found themselves getting involved in the terrible events of the so-called "Vacant Lot" dispute, which is the centrepiece of power struggle for all the dark organizations across Japan. In order to find out the truth behind such a power struggle, as well as maintain their own innocence and safety, they set out to investigate all the events surrounding the "Vacant Lot" incident.
