Creamfields

Creamfields is a large British dance music festival featuring DJs and live acts. The first Creamfields was held at The Matterley Bowl in Winchester on May 2/3, in 1998. It has since been held annually on the August Bank Holiday weekend in Daresbury, England. The festival began as an offshoot from Liverpool's Cream nightclub. Other Creamfields festivals have been held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Andalucía (Spain), Malta, Punchestown (Ireland), Punta del Este (Uruguay), Alcala de henares (Spain), Istanbul (Turkey), Vilnius (Lithuania), Mexico City (Mexico), Moscow (Russia), Prague (Czech Republic), Lima (Peru), Santiago (Chile), Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Belo Horizonte (Brazil), and Wrocław (Poland). Creamfields Lisbon (Portugal) was held for the first time in May 2007. Creamfields Australia has been held annually since 2010.

Steve Angello

Steve Angello (born Steven Angello Josefsson Fragogiannis; 22 November 1982) is a Greek-Swedish disc jockey, record producer and record label owner. Angello was a member of Swedish House Mafia, together with Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso.

Biography

Angello was born to a Greek father and Swedish mother in Athens, Greece. Raised in Stockholm, Sweden, along with his brother AN21 (real name Antoine Josefsson), Angello began his musical and particularly dj-ing foray at 12 years of age.

Angello started out as a turntablist, fusing hip-hop, breakbeats and 1970s classics. By his late teens, he began getting into electronic music. Angello discovered house music through the club scene in Stockholm together with his best friend Sebastian Ingrosso, whilst listening to Da Funk. He was quoted to have "had a musical orgasm listening to this (song)."

Background

Angello's claim to fame came when he released his remix of Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" in late 2004. Since then, he has established himself in the house music scene with such signature Beatport tracks as "KNAS", "Rave n' Roll" and "Yeah". He also accompanied his size edits for Junior Sanchez and Tim Mason, and made notable remix of the Robin S. track, "Show Me Love". Steve Angello is a prolific producer, with his, AN21's, and Max Vangeli's remix for Pendulum's 'The Island' and his own cut of Alex Metric's 'Open Your Eyes'. As a producer, his style can mainly be classified as house music with theatrical and epic themes.

Swedish House Mafia

Swedish House Mafia were a Swedish electronic music supergroup consisting of disc jockeys and record producers Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. The group officially formed in late 2008. The supergroup placed at number ten on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll 2011 and have been called "the faces of mainstream progressive house music." In the DJ Magazine Top 100 Poll 2012 they were ranked at number twelve. On June 24, 2012, the group announced via their website that they would split up after embarking on "One Last Tour", which ended at Ultra Miami 2013 on March 24, 2013.

Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso continued working together under the name Axwell Λ Ingrosso and have since released six singles, "Something New", "On My Way", "Can't Hold Us Down", "Sun Is Shining", "This Time" and "Dream Bigger".

The first production that was released by Axwell, Angello and Ingrosso was "Get Dumb". It was produced with Laidback Luke and released in 2007. In 2009, they released "Leave the World Behind" with Laidback Luke and vocals by Deborah Cox.

Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen (born 22 October 1976), better known under his stage name Laidback Luke, is a Filipino-Dutch DJ and producer. He was voted #46 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list in 2008, before jumping to #27 in 2009 and jumping up 10 places in 2010.

Career

Laidback Luke grew up in the Netherlands and made his name as a graffiti artist before turning to making music. He has worked with artists such as David Guetta, Steve Angello, the percussionist Nebat Drums, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Example and Junior Sanchez and played throughout Europe and North America as well as shows in Japan and Ibiza. He has released two studio albums: Psyched Up (1998) and Electronic Satisfaction (2002) as well as a successful mix album, Windmill Skill (2003). In 2003, van Scheppingen did a remix of the Daft Punk song "Crescendolls" for the duo's remix album Daft Club. Luke has also released his own mix album, titled Ibiza Closing Party, as a free covermount CD in the October 2008 issue of Mixmag. He released his new album in July 2011, titled Cream Ibiza Super You & Me.

Album

Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century, first as books of individual 78rpm records, then from 1948 as vinyl LP records played at 33 ¹⁄₃ rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though in the 21st century albums sales have mostly focused on compact disc (CD) and MP3 formats. The audio cassette was a format used in the late 1970s through to the 1990s alongside vinyl.

An album may be recorded in a recording studio (fixed or mobile), in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places. Recording may take a few hours to several years to complete, usually in several takes with different parts recorded separately, and then brought or "mixed" together. Recordings that are done in one take without overdubbing are termed "live", even when done in a studio. Studios are built to absorb sound, eliminating reverberation, so as to assist in mixing different takes; other locations, such as concert venues and some "live rooms", allow for reverberation, which creates a "live" sound. The majority of studio recordings contain an abundance of editing, sound effects, voice adjustments, etc. With modern recording technology, musicians can be recorded in separate rooms or at separate times while listening to the other parts using headphones; with each part recorded as a separate track.
