Morna Anne Murray CC ONS (born June 20, 1945), known professionally as Anne Murray, is a Canadian singer in pop, country, and adult contemporary music whose albums have sold over 54 million copies worldwide as of 2012.
Murray was the first Canadian female solo singer to reach No. 1 on the U.S. charts, and also the first to earn a Gold record for one of her signature songs, "Snowbird" (1970). She is often cited as the one who paved the way for other international Canadian success stories such as k.d. lang, Céline Dion and Shania Twain. She is also the first woman and the first Canadian to win "Album of the Year" at the 1984 Country Music Association Awards for her Gold-plus 1983 album A Little Good News.
Murray has received four Grammys, a record 24 Junos, three American Music Awards, three Country Music Association Awards, and three Canadian Country Music Association Awards. She has been inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, the Juno Hall of Fame, and The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame., She is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame Walkway of Stars in Nashville, and has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles and on Canada's Walk of Fame in Toronto.
A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes and/or alternate takes of popular songs; even new material (previously unreleased). At times a greatest hits compilation is the original release for songs that have themselves been released as a single and charted successfully.
Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a solo artist; all of the songs on it are presented in different versions than the original hit versions. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a group and also one of the ten best selling albums in history. Greatest hits albums are typically produced after an artist has had enough successful songs to fill out an album release. Some artists, such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Kiss, U2, Dolly Parton, Journey, Los Tigres del Norte, Queen, Kylie Minogue and Billy Joel, have released multiple greatest hits albums through their long careers. Some greatest hits albums are released only at the end of the artist or group's career. For example, My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits album after they disbanded. Other artists, like Eminem have released hits albums in the center of their success. He released Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 and then Shady XV as a compilation album in 2014.
Murray ( listen ) may refer to:
Anne, alternatively spelled Ann, is a form of the Latin female given name Anna. This in turn is a representation of the Hebrew Hannah, the name of the mother of the prophet Samuel. Anne is a common name in France.
It is sometimes used as a male name in the Netherlands (for example Anne de Vries). It has also been used for males in France (Anne de Montmorency) and Scotland (Lord Anne Hamilton).
Anti is the eighth studio album by Barbadian recording artist Rihanna, released on January 28, 2016, through Westbury Road and Roc Nation. The singer began planning the record in 2014, at which time she left her previous label Def Jam and joined Roc Nation. Work continued into 2015, during which she released three singles, including the internationally acclaimed "FourFiveSeconds"; they were ultimately removed from the final track listing. Anti was made available for free digital download on January 28 through Tidal and was released to online music stores for paid purchase on January 29. The album was launched to physical retailers on February 5.
As executive producer, Rihanna contributed to most of the album's lyrics and collaborated with producers including Jeff Bhasker, Boi-1da, DJ Mustard, Hit-Boy, Brian Kennedy, Timbaland and No I.D. to achieve her desired sound. Their efforts resulted in a departure from Rihanna's previous dance and club music genre and created a primarily pop and R&B album, with elements of soul and dancehall. The producers incorporated dark, sparsely layered, minimalist song structures, whilst most of Anti's lyrics dealt with the complexities of romantic love and self-assurance.

The short film Random Strangers 'Another World' from director Alexis dos Santos made for the Cinema Reloaded project. Random Stangers “Another World” explores contemporary online relationships with a strongly cinematic language. The film portrays a new generation for whom Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Skype, and the whole idea of creating your own online persona have played a crucial role in the development of their social skills since their early teenage years. The two protagonists, Rocky & Lulu, live on opposite sides of the planet, in different cultures. Rocky lives in Berlin and Lulu is from a small town in Mexico. Both have unhappy lives at home, but in the virtual world, and in the eyes of each other, they can be whoever they wish to be. We witness the differences between these two...

My DVD at http://www.ALLIAX.net Please comment on my videos. Killing Me Softly with His Song played on chromatic harmonica. "Killing Me Softly with His Song" is a 1971 song composed by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, which has become a pop standard. The song was inspired by a poem by Lori Lieberman, "Killing Me Softly with His Blues", which she wrote after seeing a then-unknown Don McLean perform the song Empty Chairs live. Song and cover versions Lieberman was the first to record Fox and Gimbel's song, in 1971, but it became a bigger hit when covered by Roberta Flack in 1973, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for 4 weeks. It was replaced by "Love Train" by the The O'Jays. "Killing Me Softly" returned to the top of the U.S. charts replacing "Love Train". R&B; artist Al B. Su...

Hear Me Speak. Who Am I?: An Investigation of Voice and Power Voice is pervasive and omnipresent. Through the voice, we navigate and understand our interdependent social and political power relations. My voice, your voice, her voice, and his voice all perform a socially constructed hierarchical role, mediating our identity within society. The knowledge we gain from sonic experience frames a set of relations between our acoustic environment, its participants, and their politicized relations to one another. In Hear Me Speak. Who Am I? we explore the voice as an acousmatic sound (Schafer, 1994) and the power relations surrounding vocal performance (Carson, 1992). In “The Gender of Sound”, Carson argues that through the voice people become agents of their own subjugation or empowerment. We i...

When the rooms are all in darkness
And you're knockin' at the door
No one seems to live here anymore
Footsteps in the doorway
Echos in the hall
You know someone's waiting here for you
When it's cold outside your window
And there's snow inside your shoes
And you're waiting out the cold December blues
Don't hesitate
Three o'clock's not late
You know someone's waiting here for you
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting here for-or you
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting
You know someone's waiting here for you
When the grey clouds roll all over
All your sunny days
And the colour's that surround you fade away
Look to your side
Reach out your hand
'Cause you know someone's waiting here for you
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting here for-or you
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting
You know someone's waiting here for you
