Land
Land, sometimes referred to as dry land, is the solid surface of the Earth that is not permanently covered by water. The vast majority of human activity occurs in land areas that support agriculture, habitat, and various natural resources.

Pingdingshan
Pingdingshan (simplified Chinese: 平顶山; traditional Chinese: 平頂山; pinyin: Píngdǐngshān; postal: Pingtingshan), also known as the Eagle City, had 4,904,701 inhabitants at the 2010 census whom 1,756,333 lived in the built-up area (or metro) made up of 3 urban districts, Xinhua, Weidong, Zhanhe and Ye County being caught up by urbanization. It's a prefecture-level city in central Henan province, China.
Geography
It borders the provincial capital of Zhengzhou to the north, Xuchang and Luohe to the east, Zhumadian to the southeast, Nanyang to the south, and Luoyang to the west.
History
Pingdingshan was founded in 1957. In Chinese, Pingdingshan means 'flat mountain'; The city is named after a nearby plateau which has a very flat top. The reason for the city's "Eagle City" nickname can be traced back to two thousand years ago during the Spring and Autumn Annals. There was a small country royal named Ying that lived around Pingdingshan. In ancient times, the word "Ying" meant Eagle, therefore people also call Pingdingshan the Eagle City.

To the average west European eyes, Pingdingshan must have seemed like Dante's Inferno! However, to my north of England eyes, it was like taking a time machine straight back to Britain's industrial heartland of the 1950s and 60s. Wherever you looked, there were usually 2 or 3 steam locomotives to be seen. Here we see locomotives of classes SY, JS and QJ working the central sorting sidings outside the main loco depot. Filmed in 2003.
