Gordon Liu (劉家輝; Lau Ka-fai; pinyin: Liu Jiahui, formerly spelled Liu Chia-hui, birth name Xian Jinxi; born August 22, 1955) is a Chinese martial arts film actor and martial artist. He became famous for playing the lead role of San Te in The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978) and its sequels. He later became known for his two roles in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films: Johnny Mo, the leader of the Crazy 88 Yakuza gang in Volume 1 (2003); and kung fu master Pai Mei in Volume 2 (2004).
Liu was born in Guangdong Province, China. He trained at Lau Cham's martial arts school of Hung Gar discipline, which descended from Wong Fei-hung's grand student (father to Lau Kar Leung). Liu is often wrongly cited as being the adopted son of Lau Cham, and adoptive brother of famed directors / actors Lau Kar-leung (Liu Chia-liang) and Lau Kar-wing (Liu Chia-Yung). In fact, he was not adopted by the Lau brothers' family, he is actually just Lau Cham's godson. In his youth, he skipped school to train in Chinese martial arts without his parents' knowledge. Lau Cham's wife assisted in his training and due to the friendship and respect he felt for his sifu and his wife, he took on the name Lau Ka-fai. As he grew up, he found a job as a shipping clerk to make ends meet. His interests had always been towards martial arts and he was eventually offered a role by Lau Kar-leung. His name prior to being adopted was Xian Jinxi (冼錦熙). Gordon went through two marriages. He has two daughters from his first marriage, and a son and daughter from his second marriage.
The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, also known as The Master Killer and Shaolin Master Killer, is a 1978 Shaw Brothers kung fu film directed by Liu Chia-liang and starring Gordon Liu.
The film follows a highly fictionalized version of San Te, a legendary Shaolin martial arts disciple who trained under the general Chi Shan.
36th Chamber of Shaolin is widely considered to be one of the greatest kung fu films and a turning point in its director's and star's careers. It was followed by Return to the 36th Chamber, which was more comedic in presentation and featured Gordon Liu as the new main character with another actor in the smaller role of San Te, and Disciples of the 36th Chamber.
A young student named Liu Yude, later known as San Te, is drawn by his activist teacher into the local rebellion against the Manchu government. The government officials suppress the uprising and liquidate the school, killing friends and family members as well. San Te then decides to seek vengeance. Wounded in an attack by Manchu henchmen, he flees to the Shaolin temple and seeks training in kung fu. Initially the Buddhist monks reject him, since he is an outsider, but the chief abbot takes mercy on the young man and lets him stay. One year later, he begins his martial arts training in the temple's 35 chambers and advances more rapidly than any previous student. Along the way, he is depicted as inventing the three section staff.
Kill Bill is an American two-part martial arts film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It was originally scheduled for a single theatrical release, but with a running time of over four hours, it was separated into two films: Kill Bill: Volume 1, released in late 2003, and Kill Bill: Volume 2, released in early 2004. The original four-hour cut, retitled Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, was screened at select cinemas in 2011. Tarantino has discussed the possibility of a third Kill Bill film.
Kill Bill: Volume 1 was released in theaters on October 10, 2003. In the United States and Canada, Volume 1 was released in 3,102 theaters and grossed $22 million on its opening weekend.Volume 1 was the widest theatrical release of Tarantino's career to date, and it was also his highest-grossing opening weekend to date. Outside the United States and Canada, Kill Bill: Volume 1 was released in 20 territories. By November 2, 2003, it had made $31 million in the 20 territories.Kill Bill: Volume 1 grossed a total of $70 million in the United States and Canada and $110.9 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $180.9 million.
Uma Karuna Thurman (born April 29, 1970) is an American actress and model. She has performed in leading roles in a variety of films, ranging from romantic comedies and dramas to science fiction and action movies. She starred in several more films throughout the 1990s such as The Truth About Cats & Dogs, Batman & Robin, Gattaca and Les Misérables.
She won a Golden Globe Award for the TV movie Hysterical Blindness (2002). Once again the Shaolin and Lama do battle. Lau Kar Fai (Gordon Liu) as the abbott against Lo Lieh, the Lama. Please forgive the 1 minute or so interlude with the terrible English dubbing. The two gentlemen (Lee Hoi San and Lau Kar-Wing) with the thick English accents are great fighters themselves but don't display their skills in this film. Lee Hoi San (the guy with the mustache) is instantly recognizable to fans of "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" (aka "Master Killer") as the monk who constantly challenged San Te (Gordon Liu) to repeated bouts. The other, Lau Kar-Wing, is Gordon's adoptive brother and another student of Lau Kar-Leung, the film's director. Lo Lieh uses crouching tiger style, which, oddly enough, was not used in the film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Gordon uses iron...

As depicted in the film, Pai Mei was a powerful, very old, practitioner of the Bak Mei style of kung fu. Pai Mei was the former teacher and master of The Bride, Bill, and Elle, although it is unclear if he instructed the other members of the DVAS. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 movie clips: http://j.mp/1Ja1RrL BUY THE MOVIE: http://amzn.to/tfFZTx Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: The Bride (Uma Thurman) faces off against the leader of the Crazy 88s (Gordon Liu). FILM DESCRIPTION: Perhaps the most highly anticipated film of 2003, Kill Bill Vol. 1 marked the return of renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino after a six-year hiatus. Re-teaming the director with Uma Thurman for the first time since 1994's Pulp Fiction, the film was originally the first half of what was to be a three-hour-plus movie before being split into two films. Thurman stars as The Bride, one-fifth of a team of assassins called DiVAS. When The Bride opts to leave the outfit for a life of marital bliss, it doesn't sit well with her boss,...
The Final Battle in the Kung-Fu movie 'The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter'. By The Shaw Brothers , Directed by Liu Chia Liang , starring Gordon Liu & Kara Hui & Alexander Fu Sheng.

One of the greatest martial arts film makers and fight choreographers of all time, his work under Shaw Brothers Studios in the 70s' and 80s' has won him numerous awards. Often appearing in the films he directs and/or choreographs while frequently collaborating with martial artist and actor Gordon Liu, his filmography includes classics such as "The One-Armed Swordsman, "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin", "Shaolin Mantis", "Heroes of the East", "Martial Club", "Legendary Weapons of China", "Invincible Pole Fighter", and "Drunken Master 2". Although tragically passing away at the age of 78 from leukemia, his legacy lives on. Here's a compilation of my favorite Lau Kar-Leung fight scenes.

(Born Xian Jinxi and also known as Chia-Hui Liu) This Chinese martial artist and actor emerged during the 80s' Golden Age of Kung Fu cinema with his breakout role of San Te in 1978's The 36th Chamber of Shaolin. While not having made many appearances since those decades, he had later played the role of both Johnny Mo, leader of the Crazy 88 in "Kill Bill Vol. 1", and Master Pai Mei in "Kill Bill Vol. 2". Specializing in the southern style of Kung Fu called Hung Ga, he has appeared in dozens of movies throughout his career reaching the status of one of the most legendary Kung Fu stars during the genre's heyday. I just hung up the phone
I was talking to you
We said good bye
I sat down and cry
Coz' I remembered the things
That we've done
When we were sitting together
And our love has begun
For more and more
I want to go back in time
I'll always love you
I hope you know
But on and on
I need to wait
Chorus:
7 1/2 years that was our pact
7 1/2 years there is no turning back
7 1/2 years till I get to see you again
I am looking at the pictures
Of me and you
Both of us were smiling
For this damn photo-shoot
That was the day when it all began
But all I want to now
Is to see you again
For more and more
I want to go back in time
I'll always love you
I hope you know
But on and on
I need to wait
