Connected is a portrait of a woman grappling with aging, self-perception, and transformation in a technologically optimized world. Jackie (Pamela Anderson) is a burnt-out AuraCycle instructor in the midst of a midlife crisis. She's obsessed with self-improvement podcasts (voiced by Jane Fonda), and she is soon drawn to an advanced yet enigmatic wellness spa that promises to enhance her mind, body and soul. Guided by her effortless and nubile mentor, Luna (Dree Hemingway), Jackie will give up anything to feel “connected" -- to herself, to the future, and to a precarious sense of perfection.
Director's Statement:
Connected began when I met Pamela Anderson for the first time. After having explored issues of body modification and transformation in some of my photography and film projects, I was ready to create a narrative film which investigated these topics in a deeper, more grounded way. I knew that I wanted the project to surround an iconic sex symbol in the tradition of Marilyn Monroe and Bridgette Bardot. I'm fascinated by the level of mystery and mythology that surrounds these women. Their allure rests mainly on the surface, and that leaves me to wonder what lies beneath.
Pamela Anderson is the sex symbol of my generation. Even before adolescence I remember posters of her plastered on bedroom walls. Men and women alike can instantly recall the visual of her running down the beach in a red bathing suit, and she’s still one of the most iconic emblems of America around the world. During my first meeting with Pamela, I was surprised to discover how thoughtful and open she is about her life and legacy. What is the evolution of a performer who has made her mark on the world with her body, something that inevitably depreciates with age? I explained that I wanted to ask these questions in the film, and to bring forth a vulnerable performance that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Instead of focusing on the obvious relationship to sex, I wanted to focus on introspection and transformation. To some degree, we all are trading on idealized versions of ourselves. This has never been more clear with the advent of social media, where our public identities are entirely self-constructed and instantly surveyed, ranked, immortalized or trolled.
For me Pamela is also an archetype of California culture, which is at once obsessed with the shallowness of youth and beauty, as well as the more existential search for self-help, wellness, and rehabilitation. Both of these polarities lead to a certain kind of alienation that I wanted to explore: the alienation and emptiness of beauty and objectification of oneself, and the alienation of continuously searching for something deeper and more authentic. I don't think it’s a coincidence that these two seemingly opposed obsessions coexist in places like Malibu. I believe, in fact, that they’re related to a singular kind of searching, which I wanted viewers to palpably feel and empathize with when watching the film. Intimacy and finding strength in being vulnerable is a big part of Pamela’s public story, as well as the community-driven, wellness culture element of Connected.
Working with Pamela has been an incredible journey. She truly understands the process and precariousness of self-invention and reinvention. After all, she began her life as a flat-chested brunette from Canada and has evolved into a blond bombshell actress and animal rights activist - epitomizing the ideals of the "California Dream." As an actress, Pamela is extraordinary to collaborate with because she works hard to understand the vision, and then fully commits to realizing it. She was also comfortable with my introducing elements of documentary into the film, blurring the line between her character and her own experiences with aging and soul searching. This took an enormous amount of bravery on her part, and helping her draw out this strength was extremely enlightening for me as well.
It was an absolute honor to work with Jane Fonda as the voice of Jackie’s wellness guru, which was also meant to parallel her public story, as well as Dree Hemingway as Luna. Growing up in Malibu, Dree acutely understood her character and brought so much personal experience and depth to the performance. There still remains this idea that intelligence and beauty are two separate qualities that represent two very different kinds of people. I find this to be not only anti-female, but also wholly untrue. For me each of the women in this film actively demonstrates that these traits most certainly do coexist. I hope the film furthers the conversation about our relationship to beauty, aging and technology, as well as each and every individual’s potential for reinvention and transformation.

Tuna Kiremitci
Tuna Kiremitci (born February 1973, Eskişehir) is a contemporary Turkish writer.
His first poems were published in the magazine Varlık during his Galatasaray High School years. His book entitled Ayabakanlar ("Moon Watchers") that won him the "Yasar Nabi Nayır" Award for Poetry met his readers in 1994. In 1997 he shared the "Erguvan Balkan Poetry Award with the Bosnian poet Izet Sarajlić. This was followed by his second book of poems Akademi (Academy) in 1998.
Tuna Kiremitci's first novel Git Kendini Cok Sevdirmeden ("Leave Before I Fall in") came out in 2002 and excited great interest and was acknowledged as one of the most important literary events of that year. His second novel Bu Iste Bir Yalnizlik Var ("Way of Loneliness") and Bazı Siirler Bazı Sarkilar ("Some Poems Some Songs") a collection of his poems were published in 2003. His novels Yolda Uc Kisi ("Three On The Road", 2005) and Dualar Kalicidir ("Prayers Stay The Same", 2007) have met with a wide audience.
His books that on the whole treat the tragedies of ordinary people, the impasse of relationships between men and women in today's Turkish society and the melancholy of getting old with an expression that is mournful but that evokes a smile here and there, have been appraised by Professor Gursel Aytac as being examples in Turkish literature of "romantic irony" (Hurriyet Gosteri: July–August 2005).

Pamela Anderson
Pamela Denise Anderson (born July 1, 1967) is a Canadian-American actress. In addition to her acting career, she is also a model, producer, author, activist and a former showgirl, known for her roles on the television series Home Improvement, Baywatch and V.I.P.. She was chosen as a Playmate of the Month for Playboy magazine in February 1990. For a time, she was known as Pamela Anderson Lee (or Pamela Lee) after marrying Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. Anderson is a member of the animal rights movement and has conducted campaigns condemning the commercial fur industry and promoting veganism through the animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). In 2006, she was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame.
She maintains dual Canadian and American citizenship.
Early life
Anderson was born in Ladysmith, British Columbia, the daughter of Barry, a furnace repairman, and Carol (née Grosco) Anderson, a waitress. Her great-grandfather, Juho Hyytiäinen, was Finnish, a native of Saarijärvi, and left the Grand Duchy of Finland (which was a part of the Russian Empire at the time) in 1908. He changed his name to Anderson when he arrived as an immigrant. Anderson also has Russian ancestry on her mother's side.

Dree Louise Hemingway Crisman (born December 4, 1987) is an American fashion model and actress.
Early life and education
Dree Louise Hemingway Crisman was born in Sun Valley, Idaho. She is the daughter of actress Mariel Hemingway and Stephen Crisman, as well as the niece of the late model and actress Margaux Hemingway. American author Ernest Hemingway is her maternal great-grandfather. She has a younger sister named Langley Fox Hemingway Crisman (known as Langley Fox).
She grew up in Ketchum, Idaho and attended Ernest Hemingway Elementary School. She later moved to California and lived in the Westlake Village. She attended Oaks Christian High School for two and a half years and then dropped out to pursue her modelling career. She was presented as a debutante at the Bal des débutantes in Paris, France in 2003
Modeling career
Hemingway has represented major companies in print advertising as well as in fashion shows.
In March 2009, she debuted at the fall/winter 09–10 catwalk show for Givenchy in Paris. In June 2009, she walked in the Calvin Klein resort show in New York. In September 2009, she opened the Topshop spring/summer 2010 show in London.

I knew that I wanted the project to surround an iconic sex symbol in the tradition of Marilyn Monroe and Bridgette Bardot. I'm fascinated by the level of mystery and mythology that surrounds these women. Their allure rests mainly on the surface, and that leaves me to wonder what lies beneath. Pamela Anderson is the sex symbol of my generation. Even before adolescence I remember posters of her plastered on bedroom walls. Men and women alike can instantly recall the visual of her running down the beach in a red bathing suit, and she’s still one of the most iconic emblems of America around the world. During my first meeting with Pamela, I was surprised to discover how thoughtful and open she is about her life and legacy. What is the evolution of a performer who has made her mark on the world with her body, something that inevitably depreciates with age? I explained that I wanted to ask these questions in the film, and to bring forth a vulnerable performance that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Instead of focusing on the obvious relationship to sex, I wanted to focus on introspection and transformation. To some degree, we all are trading on idealized versions of ourselves. This has never been more clear with the advent of social media, where our public identities are entirely self-constructed and instantly surveyed, ranked, immortalized or trolled. For me Pamela is also an archetype of California culture, which is at once obsessed with the shallowness of youth and beauty, as well as the more existential search for self-help, wellness, and rehabilitation. Both of these polarities lead to a certain kind of alienation that I wanted to explore: the alienation and emptiness of beauty and objectification of oneself, and the alienation of continuously searching for something deeper and more authentic. I don't think it’s a coincidence that these two seemingly opposed obsessions coexist in places like Malibu. I believe, in fact, that they’re related to a singular kind of searching, which I wanted viewers to palpably feel and empathize with when watching the film. Intimacy and finding strength in being vulnerable is a big part of Pamela’s public story, as well as the community-driven, wellness culture element of Connected. Working with Pamela has been an incredible journey. She truly understands the process and precariousness of self-invention and reinvention. After all, she began her life as a flat-chested brunette from Canada and has evolved into a blond bombshell actress and animal rights activist - epitomizing the ideals of the "California Dream." As an actress, Pamela is extraordinary to collaborate with because she works hard to understand the vision, and then fully commits to realizing it. She was also comfortable with my introducing elements of documentary into the film, blurring the line between her character and her own experiences with aging and soul searching. This took an enormous amount of bravery on her part, and helping her draw out this strength was extremely enlightening for me as well. It was an absolute honor to work with Jane Fonda as the voice of Jackie’s wellness guru, which was also meant to parallel her public story, as well as Dree Hemingway as Luna. Growing up in Malibu, Dree acutely understood her character and brought so much personal experience and depth to the performance. There still remains this idea that intelligence and beauty are two separate qualities that represent two very different kinds of people. I find this to be not only anti-female, but also wholly untrue. For me each of the women in this film actively demonstrates that these traits most certainly do coexist. I hope the film furthers the conversation about our relationship to beauty, aging and technology, as well as each and every individual’s potential for reinvention and transformation. - Luke Gilford -

Plot: As a Labrador puppy, Quill is sent to live with a couple, Isamu and Mitsuko Nii, who work as volunteers, training guide dogs (seeing eye dogs). When he grows to an adult dog, he is taken to a guide dog school, by a friendly, yet firm trainer Satoru Tawada. Although Quill is a little slower than the other dogs at the school, he seems to have an unusual 'empathy' and remarkable patience with his trainers. Tawade decides that Quill would be the ideal guide dog for Mitsuru Watanabe, but Wanatabe, a lonely and ill-tempered middle aged man, isn't as enthusiastic - he would "would rather sleep than be dragged around by a dog.". From here, the story is narrated by Wanatabe's daughter, Mitsuko, and slowly, Wantanbe is rehabilitated, venturing into the outside world, and learning, not only to trust other humans, but the animal at his side who guides him.

Connected is a portrait of a woman grappling with aging, self-perception, and transformation in a technologically optimized world. Jackie (Pamela Anderson) is a burnt-out AuraCycle instructor in the midst of a midlife crisis. She's obsessed with self-improvement podcasts (voiced by Jane Fonda), and she is soon drawn to an advanced yet enigmatic wellness spa that promises to enhance her mind, body and soul. Guided by her effortless and nubile mentor, Luna (Dree Hemingway), Jackie will give up anything to feel “connected" -- to herself, to the future, and to a precarious sense of perfection.
Director's Statement:
Connected began when I met Pamela Anderson for the first time. After having explored issues of body modification and transformation in some of my photography and film projects, I was ready to create a narrative film which investigated these topics in a deeper, more grounded way. I knew that I wanted the project to surround an iconic sex symbol in the tradition of Marilyn Monroe and Bridgette Bardot. I'm fascinated by the level of mystery and mythology that surrounds these women. Their allure rests mainly on the surface, and that leaves me to wonder what lies beneath.
Pamela Anderson is the sex symbol of my generation. Even before adolescence I remember posters of her plastered on bedroom walls. Men and women alike can instantly recall the visual of her running down the beach in a red bathing suit, and she’s still one of the most iconic emblems of America around the world. During my first meeting with Pamela, I was surprised to discover how thoughtful and open she is about her life and legacy. What is the evolution of a performer who has made her mark on the world with her body, something that inevitably depreciates with age? I explained that I wanted to ask these questions in the film, and to bring forth a vulnerable performance that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Instead of focusing on the obvious relationship to sex, I wanted to focus on introspection and transformation. To some degree, we all are trading on idealized versions of ourselves. This has never been more clear with the advent of social media, where our public identities are entirely self-constructed and instantly surveyed, ranked, immortalized or trolled.
For me Pamela is also an archetype of California culture, which is at once obsessed with the shallowness of youth and beauty, as well as the more existential search for self-help, wellness, and rehabilitation. Both of these polarities lead to a certain kind of alienation that I wanted to explore: the alienation and emptiness of beauty and objectification of oneself, and the alienation of continuously searching for something deeper and more authentic. I don't think it’s a coincidence that these two seemingly opposed obsessions coexist in places like Malibu. I believe, in fact, that they’re related to a singular kind of searching, which I wanted viewers to palpably feel and empathize with when watching the film. Intimacy and finding strength in being vulnerable is a big part of Pamela’s public story, as well as the community-driven, wellness culture element of Connected.
Working with Pamela has been an incredible journey. She truly understands the process and precariousness of self-invention and reinvention. After all, she began her life as a flat-chested brunette from Canada and has evolved into a blond bombshell actress and animal rights activist - epitomizing the ideals of the "California Dream." As an actress, Pamela is extraordinary to collaborate with because she works hard to understand the vision, and then fully commits to realizing it. She was also comfortable with my introducing elements of documentary into the film, blurring the line between her character and her own experiences with aging and soul searching. This took an enormous amount of bravery on her part, and helping her draw out this strength was extremely enlightening for me as well.
It was an absolute honor to work with Jane Fonda as the voice of Jackie’s wellness guru, which was also meant to parallel her public story, as well as Dree Hemingway as Luna. Growing up in Malibu, Dree acutely understood her character and brought so much personal experience and depth to the performance. There still remains this idea that intelligence and beauty are two separate qualities that represent two very different kinds of people. I find this to be not only anti-female, but also wholly untrue. For me each of the women in this film actively demonstrates that these traits most certainly do coexist. I hope the film furthers the conversation about our relationship to beauty, aging and technology, as well as each and every individual’s potential for reinvention and transformation.

P.A.M.E.L.A. is an intense open-world survival horror game set in Eden, a fallen Utopian city.
Play as a Sleeper, awoken from cryosleep in Eden, a fallen utopia wrought with death and danger. Connected is a portrait of a woman grappling with aging, self-perception, and transformation in a technologically optimized world. Jackie (Pamela Anderson) is a burnt-out AuraCycle instructor in the midst of a midlife crisis. She's obsessed with self-improvement podcasts (voiced by Jane Fonda), and she is soon drawn to an advanced yet enigmatic wellness spa that promises to enhance her mind, body and soul. Guided by her effortless and nubile mentor, Luna (Dree Hemingway), Jackie will give up anything to feel “connected" -- to herself, to the future, and to a precarious sense of perfection.
Director's Statement:
Connected began when I met Pamela Anderson for the first time. After having explored issues of body modification and transformation in some of my photography and film projects, I was ready to create a narrative film which investigated these topics in a deeper, more grounded way. I knew that I wanted the project to surround an iconic sex symbol in the tradition of Marilyn Monroe and Bridgette Bardot. I'm fascinated by the level of mystery and mythology that surrounds these women. Their allure rests mainly on the surface, and that leaves me to wonder what lies beneath.
Pamela Anderson is the sex symbol of my generation. Even before adolescence I remember posters of her plastered on bedroom walls. Men and women alike can instantly recall the visual of her running down the beach in a red bathing suit, and she’s still one of the most iconic emblems of America around the world. During my first meeting with Pamela, I was surprised to discover how thoughtful and open she is about her life and legacy. What is the evolution of a performer who has made her mark on the world with her body, something that inevitably depreciates with age? I explained that I wanted to ask these questions in the film, and to bring forth a vulnerable performance that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Instead of focusing on the obvious relationship to sex, I wanted to focus on introspection and transformation. To some degree, we all are trading on idealized versions of ourselves. This has never been more clear with the advent of social media, where our public identities are entirely self-constructed and instantly surveyed, ranked, immortalized or trolled.
For me Pamela is also an archetype of California culture, which is at once obsessed with the shallowness of youth and beauty, as well as the more existential search for self-help, wellness, and rehabilitation. Both of these polarities lead to a certain kind of alienation that I wanted to explore: the alienation and emptiness of beauty and objectification of oneself, and the alienation of continuously searching for something deeper and more authentic. I don't think it’s a coincidence that these two seemingly opposed obsessions coexist in places like Malibu. I believe, in fact, that they’re related to a singular kind of searching, which I wanted viewers to palpably feel and empathize with when watching the film. Intimacy and finding strength in being vulnerable is a big part of Pamela’s public story, as well as the community-driven, wellness culture element of Connected.
Working with Pamela has been an incredible journey. She truly understands the process and precariousness of self-invention and reinvention. After all, she began her life as a flat-chested brunette from Canada and has evolved into a blond bombshell actress and animal rights activist - epitomizing the ideals of the "California Dream." As an actress, Pamela is extraordinary to collaborate with because she works hard to understand the vision, and then fully commits to realizing it. She was also comfortable with my introducing elements of documentary into the film, blurring the line between her character and her own experiences with aging and soul searching. This took an enormous amount of bravery on her part, and helping her draw out this strength was extremely enlightening for me as well.
It was an absolute honor to work with Jane Fonda as the voice of Jackie’s wellness guru, which was also meant to parallel her public story, as well as Dree Hemingway as Luna. Growing up in Malibu, Dree acutely understood her character and brought so much personal experience and depth to the performance. There still remains this idea that intelligence and beauty are two separate qualities that represent two very different kinds of people. I find this to be not only anti-female, but also wholly untrue. For me each of the women in this film actively demonstrates that these traits most certainly do coexist. I hope the film furthers the conversation about our relationship to beauty, aging and technology, as well as each and every individual’s potential for reinvention and transformation.
