Synopsis:

A 25-year-old French daredevil did a tightrope walk across the top of New York in 1974 - on a 131-foot cable strung between the 110-story twin towers of the World Trade Center. The aerialist, accomplished juggler and unicyclist, is Philippe Petit, who said, “I see three oranges and I have to juggle. I see two towers and I have to walk.” The stroll, 1,350 feet above street level, lasted 50 minutes, from 7:05 to 7:55 a.m. Four times the 25-year-old Petit, who started out from the north tower, walked to a point near the south tower and then back north. Once he sat down on the wire cable - which is an inch in diameter - and another time he lay down on his back on the cable.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Joseph Leonard Gordon-Levitt (/ˌdʒoʊsəf lɛnərd ɡɔːrdən ˈlɛvᵻt/; born February 17, 1981) is an American actor and filmmaker. As a child actor, he appeared in the films A River Runs Through It, Angels in the Outfield and 10 Things I Hate About You, and as Tommy Solomon in the TV series 3rd Rock from the Sun. He took a break from acting to study at Columbia University, but dropped out in 2004 to pursue acting again. He has since starred in 500 Days of Summer, Inception, Hesher, 50/50, Premium Rush, The Dark Knight Rises, Brick, Looper, The Lookout, Manic, Lincoln, Mysterious Skin and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
He also founded the online production company hitRECord in 2004 and has hosted his own TV series, HitRecord on TV, since January 2014. In 2013, Gordon-Levitt made his feature film directing and screenwriting debut with Don Jon, a comedy film in which he also stars. He previously directed and edited two short films, both of which were released in 2010: Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny and Morgan and Destiny's Eleventeenth Date: The Zeppelin Zoo. He starred as Philippe Petit in the Robert Zemeckis-directed film The Walk and will star as Edward Snowden in the Oliver Stone film Snowden, set for release in 2016.

Philippe Petit
Philippe Petit (French pronunciation: [filip pəti]; born 13 August 1949) is a French high-wire artist who gained fame for his high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, on the morning of August 7, 1974. For his unauthorized feat (which he referred to as "le coup") 1,350 feet (400 metres) above the ground, he rigged a 450-pound (200-kilogram) cable and used a custom-made 26-foot (8-metre) long, 55-pound (25-kilogram) balancing pole. He performed for 45 minutes, making eight passes along the wire. The next week, he celebrated his 25th birthday. All charges were dismissed in exchange for his doing a performance in Central Park for children.
Since then, Petit has lived in New York, where he has been artist-in-residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, also a location of other aerial performances. He has done wire walking as part of official celebrations in New York, across the United States, and in France and other countries, as well as teaching workshops on the art. In 2008, Man on Wire, a documentary directed by James Marsh about Petit's walk between the towers, won numerous awards. He was also the subject of a children's book and an animated adaptation of it, released in 2005. The Walk, a movie based on Petit's walk, was released in September 2015, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit and directed by Robert Zemeckis.

Walking
Walking (also known as ambulation) is one of the main gaits of locomotion among legged animals, and is typically slower than running and other gaits. Walking is defined by an 'inverted pendulum' gait in which the body vaults over the stiff limb or limbs with each step. This applies regardless of the number of limbs - even arthropods, with six, eight or more limbs, walk.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the term walking includes activities such as walking in a park and trekking in the Alps. However, in Canada and the United States the term for a long, vigorous walk is hiking, while the word walking covers shorter walks, especially in an urban setting.

"The Walk" opens side two of The Time's second album, What Time Is It?. Recorded for the album at Sunset Sound in January 1982, the song was produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince with Morris Day later adding his lead vocals and Vanity 6 providing some backing vocals. The funk song opens with a brief drum fill and has several throughout the song, along with drum machines. The beat is somewhat of a march, which is emphasized by Day during the song's break by mimicking an army chant. The "walking" bass of the song is perhaps inspired by the song's title. The keyboards take an important roll, as well as plenty of rock guitar. Despite the song being performed nearly entirely by Prince, several band members are called out throughout the song (Jellybean Johnson and Terry Lewis) giving the song a live feel. The ending of the song is a humorous conversation between Morris Day and Denise Matthews, lead singer of Vanity 6. Prince himself also makes an appearance as an Italian club owner. The U.S. 7" single was backed with the album's brief "OnedayI'mgonnabesomebody", while the Japanese 7" had "777-9311" as the B-side. The 12" single had "'I Don't Wanna Leave You" and an edit of "The Walk" as B-sides. "The Walk" reached #24 on the R&B; charts. [1] In addition, along with the tracks, 777-9311, and "I Don't Want to Leave You", "The Walk" peaked at #42 on the US Disco Top 80 [2] chart. The song became one of The Time's signature numbers. A 25-year-old French daredevil did a tightrope walk across the top of New York in 1974 - on a 131-foot cable strung between the 110-story twin towers of the World Trade Center. The aerialist, accomplished juggler and unicyclist, is Philippe Petit, who said, “I see three oranges and I have to juggle. I see two towers and I have to walk.” The stroll, 1,350 feet above street level, lasted 50 minutes, from 7:05 to 7:55 a.m. Four times the 25-year-old Petit, who started out from the north tower, walked to a point near the south tower and then back north. Once he sat down on the wire cable - which is an inch in diameter - and another time he lay down on his back on the cable. "The Walk" opens side two of The Time's second album, What Time Is It?. Recorded for the album at Sunset Sound in January 1982, the song was produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince with Morris Day later adding his lead vocals and Vanity 6 providing some backing vocals. The funk song opens with a brief drum fill and has several throughout the song, along with drum machines. The beat is somewhat of a march, which is emphasized by Day during the song's break by mimicking an army chant. The "walking" bass of the song is perhaps inspired by the song's title. "The Walk" opens side two of The Time's second album, What Time Is It?. Recorded for the album at Sunset Sound in January 1982, the song was produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince with Morris Day later adding his lead vocals and Vanity 6 providing some backing vocals.
The funk song opens with a brief drum fill and has several throughout the song, along with drum machines. The beat is somewhat of a march, which is emphasized by Day during the song's break by mimicking an army chant. The "walking" bass of the song is perhaps inspired by the song's title. The keyboards take an important roll, as well as plenty of rock guitar. Despite the song being performed nearly entirely by Prince, several band members are called out throughout the song (Jellybean Johnson and Terry Lewis) giving the song a live feel. The ending of the song is a humorous conversation between Morris Day and Denise Matthews, lead singer of Vanity 6. Prince himself also makes an appearance as an Italian club owner.
The U.S. 7" single was backed with the album's brief "OnedayI'mgonnabesomebody", while the Japanese 7" had "777-9311" as the B-side. The 12" single had "'I Don't Wanna Leave You" and an edit of "The Walk" as B-sides.
"The Walk" reached #24 on the R&B; charts. [1] In addition, along with the tracks, 777-9311, and "I Don't Want to Leave You", "The Walk" peaked at #42 on the US Disco Top 80 [2] chart. The song became one of The Time's signature numbers. The song is played at nearly all of their concerts.[citation needed]
