A fetish (derived from the French fétiche; which comes from the Portuguese feitiço; and this in turn from Latin facticius, "artificial" and facere, "to make") is an object believed to have supernatural powers, or in particular, a man-made object that has power over others. Essentially, fetishism is the emic attribution of inherent value or powers to an object.
The term "fetish" has evolved from an idiom used to describe a type of objects created in the interaction between European travelers and Africans in the early modern period to an analytical term that played a central role in the perception and study of non-Western art in general and African art in particular.
William Pietz, who conducted an extensive ethno-historical study of the fetish, argues that the term originated in the coast of West Africa during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Pietz distinguishes between, on the one hand, actual African objects that may be called fetishes in Europe, together with the indigenous theories of them, and on the other hand, "fetish," an idea, and an idea of a kind of object, to which the term above applies.
Sexual fetishism or erotic fetishism is a sexual focus on a nonliving object or nongenital body part. The object of interest is called the fetish; the person who has a fetish for that object is a fetishist. A sexual fetish may be regarded as a non-pathological aid to sexual excitement, or as a mental disorder if it causes significant psychosocial distress for the person or has detrimental effects on important areas of their life.Sexual arousal from a particular body part can be further classified as partialism.
While medical definitions restrict the term sexual fetishism to objects or body parts, fetish can also refer to sexual interest in specific activities in common discourse.
In common parlance, the word fetish is used to refer to any sexually arousing stimuli, not all of which meet the medical criteria for fetishism. This broader usage of fetish covers parts or features of the body (including obesity and body modifications), objects, situations and activities (such as smoking or BDSM).Paraphilias such as urophilia, necrophilia and coprophilia have been described as fetishes.
In Karl Marx's critique of political economy, commodity fetishism is the perception of the social relationships involved in production, not as relationships among people, but as economic relationships among the money and commodities exchanged in market trade. As such, commodity fetishism transforms the subjective, abstract aspects of economic value into objective, real things that people believe have intrinsic value.
The theory of commodity fetishism is presented in the first chapter of Capital: Critique of Political Economy (1867), at the conclusion of the analysis of the value-form of commodities, to explain that the social organization of labour is mediated through market exchange, the buying and the selling of commodities (goods and services). Hence, in a capitalist society, social relations between people—who makes what, who works for whom, the production-time for a commodity, et cetera—are perceived as economic relations among objects, that is, how valuable a given commodity is when compared to another commodity. Therefore, the market exchange of commodities masks (obscures) the true economic character of the human relations of production, between the worker and the capitalist.

PVC fetishism and rubber fetishism are closely related to latex fetish, with the former referring to shiny clothes made of the synthetic plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and the latter referring to clothes made of rubber, which is generally thicker, less shiny, and more matte than latex. PVC is sometimes confused with the similarly shiny patent leather, which is also a fetish material. Latex or rubber fetishists sometimes refer to themselves as "rubberists". Gay rubberists tend to call themselves "rubbermen".
SESSION SHARED WITH PERMISSION. WARNING-DEMONIC MANIFESTATIONS MAY BE PRESENT. Sexual fetishism is the sexual arousal a person receives from a physical object or from a specific situation. The object or situation of interest is called the fetish. Fetishism is the use of a fetish to produce sexual arousal. Many people say that whatever a married couple does in their bedroom, God is pleased because they are married. In Genesis Chapter 38, the LORD God was not pleased with Onan. Onan did not want to have a child by his wife due to his reason. When he had intercourse with her, he intentionally spilled the semen on the ground. The LORD was not pleased with his action and killed him. Therefore, the LORD God is the same today, yesterday and forever; for His eyes are upon all our ways: the...

Marx's notion of commodity fetishism explained in 60 seconds. Music: "Escapee" by Altered:Carbon (freemusicarchive.org).
#fetishsubculturedocumentary, #fetishsubculture There are a lot of perceptions about fetishism. We were curious, we had questions, we have gotten answers. We hope to demystify fetishism by using the fetish community’s point of view. This documentary is aimed to serve as a first contact between the fetish world and the educated general public. It is divided into six sections : fetish passion, fetish community, fetish modeling, fetish observers, fetish designers, and fetish events. We began this project with consumer equipment and no budget during the spring 2011, and completed it early 2014 with professional equipment. There is a slight improvment in the quality. The most important here is the message. The people of this community have a wonderful message to share. So we will let the pe...
