Jeff Horn’s incredible victory over red-hot favourite and 11-time world champion, Manny Pacquiao was one of the greatest boxing upsets of all-time and despite criticism from overseas, it was a thoroughly deserved one. The Battle of Brisbane was expected to go the distance but it was not expected the Queensland school teacher would be the one raising his arms in glory.

UBET collected a consistent amount of bets on Horn to produce the miracle victory and become the new WBO Welterweight World Champion. However, in an unexpected and probably patriotic sign, more than 5 times the amount of bets were placed on a Horn victory in the head-to-head market!

With another huge fight coming up next month between Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather and Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor, Horn’s win is a valuable lesson in backing the underdog. Mayweather is expected to stretch his undefeated record to 50-0 but there is the younger, fitter and arguably hungrier opponent he needs to account for before reaching the half-century

THE OUTSIDER: JEFF HORN

Brisbane’s hometown hero; the undefeated Jeff Horn will fight the fight of his young life on Sunday when he takes on legendary world number one ranked welterweight boxer in Manny Pacquiao. ‘The Hornet’ and his team had been in negotiations for a while before ‘Pac Man’ and his camp finally agreed to the July 2 bout at Suncorp Stadium.

While Horn is treating this fight as the biggest of his career, the same cannot be said for his opponent.

The usual egomania, trash talking and argy-bargy have taken a back seat to humility, respect and honour between two of the most modest fighters in boxing. The WBO world welterweight title is on the line and if Horn is able to get the points, it will not only be the biggest win of his career, it will also be his first world title.

THE FAVOURITE: MANNY PACQUIAO

International superstar Manny ‘Pac Man’ Pacquiao has declared all his hard work and preparation is done for the fight against Horn on Sunday. The 11-time world champion trained on light duties throughout the week in Brisbane and looks focused on defending his WBO world welterweight title.

Through his 59 fights, the Filipino prodigy has lost just six bouts and he has won 20 of his last 23 encounters, with his last loss coming against controversial identity Floyd Mayweather Junior in May last year.

Pacquiao has come out and publicly stated that he will not be taking Horn lightly and that he has been sparring with fighters who have a similar style to Sunday’s opponent. The 38-year-old remains the short-priced favourite with the majority of the money coming in for him.
