Bungendore residents suffered shock after coming home to find their house on fire

Two Bungendore residents are being treated for shock after they came home to find their house on fire on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters are still putting out spot fires near the Osborne Street home, after a house fire caused the building's roof to collapse.

A NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said Rural Fire Service officers, paramedics and police responded to an emergency 000 call about the fire at 3.25pm on Friday.

They arrived at the Osborne Street residence to find the single-storey home was "well alight" and "fairly extensively damaged" but there was no damage reported to surrounding properties.

No one was injured during the fire, but the fire was coming through the roof, before it caused the home's roof to collapse as fire fighters fought it from outside the building.

Despite the lack of injuries, the spokesman said the two owners had arrived home during the fire, and had been transferred to hospital suffering symptoms of shock from the ordeal.

He said fire fighters were still at the scene shortly after 5pm on Friday, putting out nearby spot fires, and the Rural Fire Service would investigate the cause of the fire.
