GOP jumps Shark *again*: Call For Canadian Border Wall

Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola, and Jimmy Dore | (The Young Turks Video report) | – –

“Scott Walker is attempting to out-Trump Donald Trump by discussing the idea of a building a wall along our Canadian border. Ana Kasparian (The Point), John Iadarola (Think Tank), and Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. . .

“Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), a staunch advocate of beefing up security on the southern border, said Sunday he is open to building a wall on the U.S. border with Canada as well.

The Republican presidential candidate said the idea of building a northern wall was brought up to him during a recent town hall in New Hampshire.

“That is a legitimate issue for us to look at,” Walker said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Republicans typically take a tough approach on securing the southern border, but few have said a wall should also be built along the U.S.-Canada border.”

    • You can joke all you want, but republicans take this very seriously. New Madrid is just one of many potential crossing points. Our borders with middle earth must be impermeable.

  1. Please build this. I’m sick of Americans coming over and trying to take advantage of our health care system, or trying to steal drugs we paid for with our taxes. Build a wall and keep those freeloaders out! And if we find them here, send them back to their own country!

This is only partly satire. :)

  2. Oh dear lord, YES PLEASE! If ANY of the current GOP hopefuls make it into the White House a big impenetrable wall along the U.S./Canadian border would be extremely welcome. The only thing that I,as a Canadian, think might be better is if they were to come up with some sort of science-fiction inspired way for the U.S. to seal itself away from the rest of the world in a pocket universe until it collectively cures it’s insanity.

Right now I’m terrified that the Democrats will nominate Hillary Clinton and the the lack of enthusiasm for her among the left will combine with the rabid hatred for her on the right and those factors, along with some voter suppression and possible help from the Supreme Court may actually result in a Trump victory…

We should put the entire USA under a dome. It’s the only way we’ll keep extraterrestrial aliens from making anchor babies.

  4. Perhaps building a wall around the current gaggle of silly GOP Presidential candidates would be much more useful?

    • Also may it bankrupt the US economy building it and give the Canadian armed forces some target practice monitoring and enforcing a 100 mile area along the barrier south of the Canadian border like the Israeli’s monitor the fence they erected along the border with Gaza and the US is so found of supporting with US dollars.

  5. Next, let’s defend the US from birds flying in from Central America.
None of them have a wildlife import permit.
And stop the Monarch butterflies coming from Mexico!

  6. Think the Canadians would help build the wall to keep Americans out.

  7. Does he honestly not know how long that border is? That it goes through the length of 4 of the great lakes? That it crosses the Rocky Mountains? That his proposal makes him look like an idiot?

    • Govidate Walker ended his formal education when he dropped out of junior college.

Not an idiot but merely someone’s tool.

  8. There are six time zones in Canada, six out of 24, i.e. one quarter of the circumference (24,859.82 miles, or 40,008 km) of the Earth’s equator, about a 6,000-mile wall. So make it as high as the Isreali zionist apartheid wall so you won’t cross into Canada.

  9. I think Walker was proposing this wall to stop Muslim terrorists, not illegal immigrants from Canada. How much money do you have to spend to stop one terrorists??? Is this the least efficient way possible to fight Al Queda? It is something out of Monty Python.

  10. Walker dropped out of Marquette University, not a junior college, He “decided” to leave, when he was a senior, after he lost the election to be student body president, which was a bitter campaign with allegations of dirty tricks.

It was alleged that he was booted for cheating in a class, but the professor who blogged about the cheating withdrew the post, so there is no evidence of Walker cheating in his classes, too.
Walker denies that Marquette U. forced him to leave.

    • With all due respect, Marquette University has a very low ranking amongst our leading colleges and the various controversies over Govidate Walker’s academic performance should not be so easily dismissed.

You are very correct, Marquette is not a junior college. Standing corrected.

It does not alter the fact, Govidate Walker is simply not Presidential material by any stretch of imagination.

  11. We need a wall around Austin to keep out all the Southern Californians, Formula One race enthusiasts, suburbanites from Dallas and Houston, and SXSW tourists. Will Walker send us some money, please?

    • The distance from Austin, Texas to the Canadian border (the topic) is well over 1,000 miles.

Building a wall around Texas has much more merit than a wall across the Canadian border. With the lowest ranked educational system in the U.S. (Ranked #50 out of 50 by numerous sources.) Texas influences should be contained.

And if unhappy with Austin trends, consider Lubbock, Abilene or Plano? Some of the most conservative cities in Texas (and the U.S.) by far.

Incidentally, the suburbs around Dallas are amongst the most conservative in America. Plano, Arlington, Garland, Carrollton, Mesquite, Irving, Fort Worth and Grand Prairie all make the Top 100 Most Conservative cities.

Austin has the Broken Spoke, UT, great BBQ and food trailers.

      Be proud.

If Austin needs money they should tap the TEF which has handed over hundreds of millions of Texas taxpayer $$$ to Oracle, Dow Chemical, Apple, Home Depot, Visa, Frito-Lay, Kohl’s Department Stores, Facebook, Petco, Lockheed Martin, Vought Aircraft, T-Mobile, even the U.S. Bowling Congress. Why not their capitol city? Or petition the Walton family (WAL*MART), the wealthiest family in America. Some live in Texas, out by Weatherford. They can afford it.
