Liam Buckley wants his St Patrick's Athletic side to start taking the game by the scruff of the neck in the club's battle to avoid relegation for the first time in their history.

With just one win in 12 games, the Saints remain in the relegation zone, as even a positive result last weekend, a 2-2 draw away to Limerick, was not enough to take them out of the bottom three.

Tonight's game, at home to bottom side Galway United, will be key for the Saints as their next scheduled league game is against runaway league leaders Cork City.

Buckley's side showed their steel by coming from 2-0 down to earn that 2-2 draw in Limerick, goals from Conan Byrne and Ian Bermingham, but the Saints boss knows his side can't keep just digging things out with rescue missions.

"We need to start taking the lead in games and put the pressure on the opposition," says Buckley ahead of Galway's visit to Dublin 8.

St Patrick’s Athletic winger Conan Byrne was on hand to promote the club’s ‘School’s Out’ campaign for tonight’s clash with Galway United at Richmond Park, Inchicore. The first 300 kids (under-12) through the turnstiles tonight will receive a free St Patrick’s Athletic baseball cap.

"We seem to be under pressure a bit, by going behind in games, so hopefully we can get in front against Galway and take it from there.

"In the last game we passed it well but in that final third we need more quality, we got plenty of balls into the box but just didn't work the keeper, I feel. At the other end we need to be more secure and be tighter in our defending."

Meanwhile, third-placed Bray Wanderers are wary of the in-form Dundalk ahead of their meeting in Wicklow tonight.

"Dundalk come to the Carlisle in very good form, scoring twelve goals in their last three games and seem to have rediscovered the form that brought them all that success last season," says boss Harry Kenny.
