The Bruce Highway from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast is a mess for drivers on Friday afternoon, following an army truck rollover.
The crash happened about 10.50am near Beerwah on the Sunshine Coast, with two army personnel injured - one suffering minor injuries and the other non-life-threatening head injuries.
More than four hours later, southbound traffic delays stretched back 15 kilometres along the Bruce Highway to Sippy Downs.
Caloundra Road was also clogged, with five kilometres of congestion from the highway to Little Mountain.
Northbound delays also built throughout the afternoon. By 3pm heavy delays stretched from Bald Hills to North Lakes, before a brief reprieve, followed by more congestion from Beerburrum to Beerwah.
Drivers trying to sneak around the crash via Steve Irwin Way did not have much luck, with eight kilometres of southbound delays from Roys Road back to Landsborough.
The left southbound lane had also been closed in the immediate aftermath of the crash but reopened about 12.30pm. However, all southbound lanes were closed for a short time about 1pm so the army vehicle could be removed.
A rescue helicopter landed at the scene earlier in the day but didn't transport patients, with ambulances taking the injured to Sunshine Coast University Hospital by road.
The Department of Defence said in a brief statement it was "working with local Queensland authorities to assist with the incident".
