- improves your own spoken accent

The UCL Observatory - 90 years of astronomical exploration
On Wednesday 6 November, the UCL Observatory held a double celebration - the unveiling of the new 80cm Perren Telescope, and the 90th anniversary of the founding of the observatory.
To commemorate this event, UCL Department of Physics and Astronomy held a launch event, with a speech from the Astronomer Royal, Lord Martin Rees, and guests including Matthew Offord MP and the Mayor of Barnet.
In this video, Head of Department Prof Raman Prinja, UCLO Director Prof Giorgio Savini, and Senior Research Fellow Dr Stephen Fossey discuss the history of the observatory, its present day usage, and the future made possible by the addition of the new telescope.

Robust super hydrophobic and self-cleaning coatings
Ivan Parkin, Claire Carmalt and Yao Lu, scientists at UCL, discuss the treatment they have developed, which can turn many materials including glass, metal and fabric, into highly water repellent and self-cleaning surfaces.
