Battle of the Wilderness
On July 9, 1755, Braddock's men crossed the Monongahela without opposition, about ten miles south of Fort Duquesne. The advance guard of 300 Grenadiers and colonials with two cannon under Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Gage began to move ahead, and unexpectedly came upon the French and Indians, who were hurrying to the river. The Battle of the Monongahela, or the Battle of the Wilderness, was officially begun.
A French stronghold at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1753, the Marquis Duquesne de Menneville, governor of New France, moved to seize the Ohio Valley from the British. On the route from Lake Erie to the Allegheny River, forts were erected at Presque Isle, Le Boeuf, and Venango. In the same year, Robert Dinwiddie, British lieutenant-governor, sent George Washington to warn the French to cease encroaching on the Ohio Valley. The French refused to back down. In February 1754, an expedition of 800 Frenchmen left Montreal, and, on 17 April, took possession of the fort being built by the Ohio Company at the confluence of the Ohio River. The French destroyed this work and constructed Fort Duquesne on the site. The rivers protected two sides of the triangle; walls of squared logs and earth twelve feet thick protected its base. Outside the walls was a deep ditch and beyond that a log stockade.
Troops left Fort Duquesne to defeat Washington at Great Meadows in 1754 and to rout Gen. Edward Brad-dock's expedition in 1755. After Braddock's defeat, the French held undisputed possession of the Ohio Valley for three years, administering their military occupation from Fort Duquesne and stimulating Indian raids on the frontiers of Pennsylvania, Virginia, and the Carolinas. Finally, on 24 November 1758, when Gen. John Forbes's expedition neared the forks of the Ohio, the French destroyed Fort Duquesne and retreated. The English rebuilt the fort and renamed it Fort Pitt; the protection provided by Fort Pitt allowed Pittsburgh to develop as a city.

**IMPORTANT** I've been having an issue with this game where it would crash immediately upon completing any of the pre-rendered cinematics. This impeded my progress, especially at the endgame. Ubisoft's official support was unable to tell me the source of the problem, but I was finally able to find out what it was: it turns out that deleting, moving or renaming the video files "ubi_logo" and "warning_disclaimer" in the game's installation causes this. Those files are the intro videos, which are ordinarily unskippable, which was why I deleted them in the first place. Replacing them, or files with their names, solves this problem. When playing this game, MAKE SURE "ubi_logo.bik" and "warning_disclaimer.bik" are in their places when other pre-rendered cinematics play. At any other time, removing them is fine. Just don't ask me why the intro videos and the others are related. Starting out I really wasn't sure if this one would be possible. This Fort has such varied terrain and there are guards in all sorts of awkward spots. This took a lot of patience and had less movement than I would like, but it was still satisfying to complete what seemed impossible.
Almost everything I want to say about this run is covered in the annotations in the video itself, but I do want to point out that at 3:20 I'm quickly checking to make sure the soldier on the platform is facing away before I use the Rope Dart. It happens too fast to put in a readable annotation, but it's a significant detail. Of course, there's also the big mistake near the end. Sorry about that. It's definitely possible to kill that soldier in a way that doesn't cause him to fall from the platform, I just didn't want to start over again at that point.
I'm approaching the end, but I'm not sure when the next video will be. All I know is that it's coming.

All sorts of small annoyances made this much harder than it should have been.
Waiting for the Officer to leave the hay pile at the beginning isn't strictly necessary, but the fall to the powder reserve needs precision to stay out of his field of view, so I didn't want to take the risk.
Squeezing by the Officer feeding the chickens to get to the ladder quickly is harder than it looks; you've got to be right next to the doorway to stay out of his vision. Amazingly, he won't be killed by either the reserve explosion or the barrel near him, so pacifism wasn't a real worry.
Once we reach the Captain near the flagpole there are serious problems. First, there's a guard on a platform who needs to be facing south if you want to drop to the ground without being spotted. Second, like at Fort Washington there's a guard looking in the direction of the flagpole at all times. It might be possible to approach unseen when he turns his head momentarily, but having the poisoned Captain draw his attention worked well. Last and worst of all, a ways to the east, there's a guard using a saw who can see you if you approach the flagpole from the east, even through the seemingly opaque tree wall nearby. This made the awkward approach from above necessary. Through a strange twist of fate (or bad programming) that guard is still sawing away after the Patriots take over, and I happen to be right next to him...

Fort Duquesne
Fort Duquesne (/duːˈkeɪn/, French: [dyken]; originally called Fort Du Quesne) was a fort established by the French in 1754, at the convergence point of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers in what is now downtown Pittsburgh in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.
It was destroyed British, and replaced by Fort Pitt in 1758. The site of both forts is now occupied by Point State Park, where the outlines of the two forts have been laid in brick.
Background
Fort Duquesne, built at a point where the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers come together to form the Ohio River, was long seen as important for controlling the Ohio Country, both for settlement and for trade. Englishman William Trent had established a highly successful trading post at the forks as early as the 1740s, to do business with a number of nearby Native American villages. Both the French and the British were keen to gain advantage in the area. As the area was within the drainage basin of the Mississippi River, the French claimed it as theirs.

French and Indian War
The French and Indian War (1754–1763) was the North American theater of the worldwide Seven Years' War. The war was fought between the colonies of British America and New France, with both sides supported by military units from their parent countries of Great Britain and France, as well as Native American allies. At the start of the war, the French North American colonies had a population of roughly 60,000 European settlers, compared with 2 million in the British North American colonies. The outnumbered French particularly depended on the Indians. Long in conflict, the metropole nations declared war on each other in 1756, escalating the war from a regional affair into an intercontinental conflict.
The name French and Indian War is used mainly in the United States and refers to the two main enemies of the British colonists: the royal French forces and the various indigenous forces allied with them. British and European historians use the term the Seven Years' War, as do English speaking Canadians.French Canadians call it La guerre de la Conquête (War of the Conquest) or (rarely) the Fourth Intercolonial War.

A French stronghold at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1753, the Marquis Duquesne de Menneville, governor of New France, moved to seize the Ohio Valley from the British. On the route from Lake Erie to the Allegheny River, forts were erected at Presque Isle, Le Boeuf, and Venango. In the same year, Robert Dinwiddie, British lieutenant-governor, sent George Washington to warn the French to cease encroaching on the Ohio Valley. The French refused to back down. In February 1754, an expedition of 800 Frenchmen left Montreal, and, on 17 April, took possession of the fort being built by the Ohio Company at the confluence of the Ohio River. The French destroyed this work and constructed Fort Duquesne on the site. The rivers protected two sides of the triangle; walls of squared logs and earth twelve feet thick protected its base. Outside the walls was a deep ditch and beyond that a log stockade.
Troops left Fort Duquesne to defeat Washington at Great Meadows in 1754 and to rout Gen. Edward Brad-dock's expedition in 1755. After Braddock's defeat, the French held undisputed possession of the Ohio Valley for three years, administering their military occupation from Fort Duquesne and stimulating Indian raids on the frontiers of Pennsylvania, Virginia, and the Carolinas. **IMPORTANT** I've been having an issue with this game where it would crash immediately upon completing any of the pre-rendered cinematics. This impeded my progress, especially at the endgame. Ubisoft's official support was unable to tell me the source of the problem, but I was finally able to find out what it was: it turns out that deleting, moving or renaming the video files "ubi_logo" and "warning_disclaimer" in the game's installation causes this. Those files are the intro videos, which are ordinarily unskippable, which was why I deleted them in the first place. Replacing them, or files with their names, solves this problem. When playing this game, MAKE SURE "ubi_logo.bik" and "warning_disclaimer.bik" are in their places when other pre-rendered cinematics play. At any other time, removing them is fine. Just don't ask me why the intro videos and the others are related. Starting out I really wasn't sure if this one would be possible. This Fort has such varied terrain and there are guards in all sorts of awkward spots. This took a lot of patience and had less movement than I would like, but it was still satisfying to complete what seemed impossible.
Almost everything I want to say about this run is covered in the annotations in the video itself, but I do want to point out that at 3:20 I'm quickly checking to make sure the soldier on the platform is facing away before I use the Rope Dart. It happens too fast to put in a readable annotation, but it's a significant detail. Of course, there's also the big mistake near the end. Sorry about that. It's definitely possible to kill that soldier in a way that doesn't cause him to fall from the platform, I just didn't want to start over again at that point.
I'm approaching the end, but I'm not sure when the next video will be. All I know is that it's coming.

All sorts of small annoyances made this much harder than it should have been.
Waiting for the Officer to leave the hay pile at the beginning isn't strictly necessary, but the fall to the powder reserve needs precision to stay out of his field of view, so I didn't want to take the risk.
Squeezing by the Officer feeding the chickens to get to the ladder quickly is harder than it looks; you've got to be right next to the doorway to stay out of his vision. Amazingly, he won't be killed by either the reserve explosion or the barrel near him, so pacifism wasn't a real worry.
Once we reach the Captain near the flagpole there are serious problems. First, there's a guard on a platform who needs to be facing south if you want to drop to the ground without being spotted. Second, like at Fort Washington there's a guard looking in the direction of the flagpole at all times. It might be possible to approach unseen when he turns his head momentarily, but having the poisoned Captain draw his attention worked well. Last and worst of all, a ways to the east, there's a guard using a saw who can see you if you approach the flagpole from the east, even through the seemingly opaque tree wall nearby. This made the awkward approach from above necessary. Through a strange twist of fate (or bad programming) that guard is still sawing away after the Patriots take over, and I happen to be right next to him...

The Battle of the Monongahela, also known as the Battle of the Wilderness, took place on 9 July 1755, during the French and Indian War, in the vicinity of present-day Braddock, Pennsylvania, 10 miles (16 km) upstream from Pittsburgh. A British force under General Edward Braddock, moving to take Fort Duquesne, was defeated by a force of French and Canadian troops, with its Native American allies.
On July 8, early in the morning, the French detachment left Fort Duquesne. Meanwhile, Braddock's column was also on the move.
At 1:00 PM, Braddock forded the Monongahela for the second time. He himself fully expected to be attacked at this point and had sent forward a strong advanced party under Lieutenant-Colonel Gage, to clear the opposite bank. However, no enemy was encountered.
Indeed, Beaujeu spent half the day in marching 11 km, and was more than 1,5 km from the fording-place when the British reached the eastern shore. The delay, from whatever cause arising, cost him the opportunity of laying an ambush either at the ford or in the gullies and ravines that channelled the forest through which Braddock was now on the point of marching.
Under a cloudless sky, the main body of the British crossed the river with perfect regularity and order. After the crossing, the British column made a short halt for rest and then resumed the march along a narrow track parallel to the river and at the base of a steep and heavily forested ridge of hills. To avoid any surprise Braddock had sent several guides, with six Virginian light horsemen, to lead the way. A musket-shot behind them came an advanced party of Gage's vanguard (300 men) followed by the vanguard itself with 3 howitzers, 2 12-pdrs and 2 6-pdrs. Then came in succession a party of axemen to clear the road, 2 6-pdrs with their ammunition-wagons, and a rear-guard. Then without any interval came the convoy, headed by a few light horsemen, a working party, and 4 guns. The wagons followed on the track with troops making their way through the forest to right and left, with abundance of parties pushed well out on either flank. At a little distance from the ford the track passed over a wide and bushy ravine.
The defeat marked the end of the Braddock expedition, by which the British had hoped to capture Fort Duquesne and gain control of the strategic Ohio Country. Braddock was mortally wounded in the battle and died during the retreat. The remainder of the column retreated southwards and the fort remained in French hands until its capture in 1758.

The first known group of people to inhabit the Ohiopyle area were the Monongahela, a clan of the Mound Builders. These Native Americans disappeared from the scene just as European colonists were beginning to arrive in North America. As the east coast was settled, the Native Americans who lived closer to the Atlantic Ocean were exterminated or forced to flee to the west. Various tribes inhabited the Ohiopyle area at this time, preceding their ultimate removal following the French and Indian War. One of the few remnants of American Indian culture that can be found in the area is in the name. "Ohiopyle" is derived from the Lenape phrase ahi opihəle which means 'it turns very white', referring to the frothy waterfalls.
The colonial powers of New France and the British Thirteen Colonies fought for control of the trading routes in the Ohio River Valley in what was at the time the northwestern frontier of America. The French were the first to explore the upper reaches of the Ohio and Mississippi River valleys. They built several forts in what is now western Pennsylvania, including Fort Duquesne in what is now Pittsburgh. Fort Duquesne was built on the remains of Fort Prince George which the French had seized from the British. George Washington was sent by the colonial governor of Virginia to try to retake the all-important fort at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. He was on two expeditions that passed through the Ohiopyle area. Washington tried to use the Youghiogheny River as a means to reach Fort Duquesne quickly, but was forced to abandon the river passage by the waterfalls in the Ohiopyle area. Still Washington pressed on to the Pittsburgh area. His troops encountered and routed a small party of French soldiers in the Battle of Jumonville Glen. One of these soldiers escaped to Fort Duquesne. Washington was forced to quickly build a fort to prepare for the oncoming French attack. Fort Necessity is just to the southwest of Ohiopyle State Park. The colonial forces of Washington were overwhelmed by the French and their Indian allies in the Battle of the Great Meadows at Fort Necessity. These battles are considered the opening shots of the French and Indian War which would spread to the Old World and become the Seven Years' War. The loss at Fort Necessity marked Washington's only military surrender. The British ultimately won the French and Indian war and the French were forced to leave western Pennsylvania

The Last of Us is a third-person survival horror action video game created exclusively for PlayStation 3. The game was developed by a portion of the employees at Naughty Dog, while the other half of the company went to develop Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception; established for the purpose of creating new intellectual property as well as continuing the Uncharted series simultaneously.
Set in the post-apocalyptic United States, the game tells the story of survivors Joel and Ellie as they work together to survive their westward journey across what remains of the country to find a possible cure for the modern fungal plague that has nearly decimated the entire human race.
Joel and Ellie arrive in Pittsburgh by way of a pick-up truck that Bill put together for them. In order to pass through the city, Joel had to take a detour away from an old traffic jam. Right after the detour, they are immediately ambushed by Hunters who ram the truck with a bus. As a result Joel crashes into a small grocery store and is forced to fight back. After escaping, they make their way through the buildings towards the Fort Duquesne Bridge, and come across an abandoned hotel with a strong Hunter presence. The player is then presented with options: take each enemy down one by one stealthily, run in guns blazing and start a full-out firefight, or sneak around the hostiles and not waste time or resources. [1] Joel and Ellie also snuck/fought their way through the Hunters in an abandoned hotel and later their Humvee in the Financial District.
Later, they run into Sam and Henry, members of a group of survivors who were fleeing Hartford and decided to take refuge in the city. After taking out the skeleton crew guarding the bridge, the group made their escape. Travelling through a sewer system that was formerly a safe settlement and now littered with Infected, the small group made it to a suburb outside of the city. There, the Hunters again confronted the group with a military sniper rifie, and later the Humvee from before. The group successfully fends them off, but later was forced to flee from the horde of infected attracted by the sounds of the fight.

The Last of Us is a third-person survival horror action video game created exclusively for PlayStation 3. The game was developed by a portion of the employees at Naughty Dog, while the other half of the company went to develop Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception; established for the purpose of creating new intellectual property as well as continuing the Uncharted series simultaneously.
Set in the post-apocalyptic United States, the game tells the story of survivors Joel and Ellie as they work together to survive their westward journey across what remains of the country to find a possible cure for the modern fungal plague that has nearly decimated the entire human race.
Joel and Ellie arrive in Pittsburgh by way of a pick-up truck that Bill put together for them. In order to pass through the city, Joel had to take a detour away from an old traffic jam. Right after the detour, they are immediately ambushed by Hunters who ram the truck with a bus. As a result Joel crashes into a small grocery store and is forced to fight back. After escaping, they make their way through the buildings towards the Fort Duquesne Bridge, and come across an abandoned hotel with a strong Hunter presence. The player is then presented with options: take each enemy down one by one stealthily, run in guns blazing and start a full-out firefight, or sneak around the hostiles and not waste time or resources. [1] Joel and Ellie also snuck/fought their way through the Hunters in an abandoned hotel and later their Humvee in the Financial District.
Later, they run into Sam and Henry, members of a group of survivors who were fleeing Hartford and decided to take refuge in the city. After taking out the skeleton crew guarding the bridge, the group made their escape. Travelling through a sewer system that was formerly a safe settlement and now littered with Infected, the small group made it to a suburb outside of the city. There, the Hunters again confronted the group with a military sniper rifie, and later the Humvee from before. The group successfully fends them off, but later was forced to flee from the horde of infected attracted by the sounds of the fight.
