Samuel Goldwyn
Samuel Goldwyn (born Szmuel Gelbfisz (Yiddish: שמואל גלבפֿיש); August 17, 1879 – January 31, 1974), also known as Samuel Goldfish, was a Jewish Polish American film producer. He was most well known for being the founding contributor and executive of several motion picture studios in Hollywood. His awards include the 1973 Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1947, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1958.
Early life
Goldwyn was born Szmuel Gelbfisz in Warsaw, Kingdom of Poland, Russian Empire, to a Hasidic, Polish Jewish family. His parents were Aaron Dawid Gelbfisz (1852-1895), a peddler, and his wife, Hanna Reban (née Jarecka) (1855-1924). At an early age, he left Warsaw on foot and penniless. He made his way to Birmingham, England, where he remained with relatives for a few years using the name Samuel Goldfish. He was 16 when his father died.
In 1898, he emigrated to the United States, but fearing refusal of entry, he got off the boat in Nova Scotia, Canada, before moving on to New York in January 1899. He found work in upstate Gloversville, New York, in the bustling garment business. Soon his innate marketing skills made him a very successful salesman at the Elite Glove Company. After four years, as vice-president for sales, he moved back to New York City and settled at 10 West 61st Street.

Founding
The company's name originates from the four founding Warner brothers (born Wonskolaser or Wonsal before Anglicization):Harry (born Hirsz), Albert (born Aaron), Sam (born Szmul), and Jack (Itzhak, or to some sources, Jacob). They emigrated as small children with their parents to Canada from Krasnosielc which was located in the part of Congress Poland that had been subjugated to the Russian Empire following the eighteenth-century Partitions of Poland near present-day Ostrołęka.

Samuel
Samuel (/ˈsæm.juː.əl/;Hebrew: שְׁמוּאֵל, Modern Shmu'el, Tiberian Šəmûʼēl; Arabic: صموئيل Ṣamuil; Greek: Σαμουήλ Samouēl; Latin: Samvel; Strong's: Shemuwel), literally meaning "Name of God" in Hebrew, is a leader of ancient Israel in the Books of Samuel in the Hebrew Bible. He is also known as a prophet and is mentioned in the second chapter of the Qur'an, although not by name.
His status, as viewed by rabbinical literature, is that he was the last of the Hebrew Judges and the first of the major prophets who began to prophesy inside the Land of Israel. He was thus at the cusp between two eras. According to the text of the Books of Samuel, he also anointed the first two kings of the Kingdom of Israel: Saul and David.
Biblical account
Family
Samuel's mother was Hannah and his father was Elkanah. Elkanah lived at Rama-thaim in the district of Zuph. His genealogy is also found in a pedigree of the Kohathites (1 Chron. 6:3-15) and in that of Heman, his great-grandson (ib. vi. 18-22). According to the genealogical tables, Elkanah was a Levite - a fact otherwise not mentioned in the books of Samuel. The fact that Elkanah, a Levite, was denominated an Ephraimite is analogous to the designation of a Levite belonging to Judah (Judges 17:7, for example).

Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. (SPE) is the American entertainment subsidiary of Sony Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of Japanese multinational technology and media conglomerate Sony.
Based in Culver City, California, it encompasses Sony's motion picture, television production and distribution units. Its group sales in March 31, 2015 has been reported to be of $7.3 billion.
Throughout the years, SPE has produced, distributed, or co-distributed successful franchises such as Spider-Man, Men in Black, Underworld, and Resident Evil.

History
On September 1, 1987, The Coca-Cola Company announced plans to spin-off its assets of Columbia Pictures, which they had owned since 1982. Under this arrangement, Coca-Cola would sell their entertainment assets to Tri-Star Pictures, of which they owned 39.6%. Tri-Star would be renamed to Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Inc. (CPE), with Coca-Cola owning 49%, its shareholders owning 31%, and Tri-Star's shareholders owning 20%. A new company was formed in early 1988 with the Tri-Star name to take over the studio's production operations.

20th century
The 20th century was a century that began on January 1, 1901 and ended on December 31, 2000. It was the tenth and final century of the 2nd millennium. It is distinct from the century known as the 1900s (sometimes written as 19XX), which began on January 1, 1900 and ended on December 31, 1999.

The racetrack was opened in 1938 under the chairmanship of Jack Warner of Warner Bros Studios. Some of the original shareholders were Hollywood giants such as Walt Disney, Bing Crosby, and Samuel Goldwyn. Hollywood Park embodied the glamour of Hollywood and played an important role in the history of horse racing. Some of the greatest horses, jockeys, and trainers were part of Hollywood Park, for it was here that Sea Biscuit won the inaugural Gold Cup in 1938. During WWII, the racetrack was closed and utilized as a storage facility in 1942-1944. The first ever Breeders' Cup was hosted here in 1984, and Triple Crown winners have raced the track while fans of all walks of life have cheered. I was contacted and invited to shoot some footage of the park before it closed for good on December 22, 2013. Only challenge was I was only given a few days to actually shoot this. Very hard to capture this amazing place in only a few days we did what we could with the time we had (2 days) The rich history of Hollywood Park lives in the heart of the fans. Circles of Confusion is a meditative experimental documentary about loss in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The filmmaker parallels her experience upon returning to New Orleans with the experience of filmmaker Stevenson Palfi, who committed suicide in the months after the hurricane. Circles of Confusion, received a Student Academy Award at the 34th Annual Student Academy Awards ceremony on June 7, 2008 at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. STUCK steps into the complex human experience of adoption, exploring the challenges faced by birth parents, prospective adoptive parents – and children.
The film follows Tihun from Ethiopia, Nate from Vietnam, and Erickson and Therline from Haiti on their individual voyages from orphanages in their native countries to their homes with families in the United States. Filmmaker Thaddaeus Scheel tracks the chapters in the lives of these four children, and the three couples seeking to be their parents, revealing along the way the intense hope and disappointment they experience on the odyssey to unite as families. Hollywood Park was the home of thoroughbred racing for 75 years. The racetrack was opened in 1938 under the chairmanship of Jack Warner of Warner Bros Studios. Some of the original shareholders were Hollywood giants such as Walt Disney, Bing Crosby, and Samuel Goldwyn. Hollywood Park embodied the glamour of Hollywood and played an important role in the history of horse racing. Some of the greatest horses, jockeys, and trainers were part of Hollywood Park, for it was here that Sea Biscuit won the inaugural Gold Cup in 1938. During WWII, the racetrack was closed and utilized as a storage facility in 1942-1944. The first ever Breeders' Cup was hosted here in 1984, and Triple Crown winners have raced the track while fans of all walks of life have cheered.
I was contacted and invited to shoot some footage of the park before it closed for good on December 22, 2013. Only challenge was I was only given a few days to actually shoot this. Very hard to capture this amazing place in only a few days we did what we could with the time we had (2 days)

Hollywood Park was the home of thoroughbred racing for 75 years. The racetrack was opened in 1938 under the chairmanship of Jack Warner of Warner Bros Studios. Some of the original shareholders were Hollywood giants such as Walt Disney, Bing Crosby, and Samuel Goldwyn. Hollywood Park embodied the glamour of Hollywood and played an important role in the history of horse racing. Some of the greatest horses, jockeys, and trainers were part of Hollywood Park, for it was here that Sea Biscuit won the inaugural Gold Cup in 1938. During WWII, the racetrack was closed and utilized as a storage facility in 1942-1944. The first ever Breeders' Cup was hosted here in 1984, and Triple Crown winners have raced the track while fans of all walks of life have cheered.

Je suis en équilibre sur une très longue poutre. Un peu de sport fait du bien sur ce parcours mais je suis essoufflée.

Circles of Confusion
Circles of Confusion is a meditative experimental documentary about loss in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The filmmaker parallels her experience upon returning to New Orleans with the experience of filmmaker Stevenson Palfi, who committed suicide in the months after the hurricane. Circles of Confusion, received a Student Academy Award at the 34th Annual Student Academy Awards ceremony on June 7, 2008 at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The film also received a “Golden Gate Award“ in the New Visions category from the San Francisco International Film Festival , an audience award for “Best Experimental Short“ from the Santa Cruz Film Festival and a Jury's Citation/2nd Prize from the Black Maria Film Festival.

Hollywood Park was the home of thoroughbred racing for 75 years. The racetrack was opened in 1938 under the chairmanship of Jack Warner of Warner Bros Studios. Some of the original shareholders were Hollywood giants such as Walt Disney, Bing Crosby, and Samuel Goldwyn. Hollywood Park embodied the glamour of Hollywood and played an important role in the history of horse racing. Some of the greatest horses, jockeys, and trainers were part of Hollywood Park, for it was here that Sea Biscuit won the inaugural Gold Cup in 1938. During WWII, the racetrack was closed and utilized as a storage facility in 1942-1944. The first ever Breeders' Cup was hosted here in 1984, and Triple Crown winners have raced the track while fans of all walks of life have cheered.
I was contacted and invited to shoot some footage of the park before it closed for good on December 22, 2013. Only challenge was I was only given a few days to actually shoot this. Very hard to capture this amazing place in only a few days we did what we could with the time we had (2 days)

Nous sommes dans les tribunes du stade de football américain, l’université Gallaudet a une équipe nommée « Bison » aux couleurs jaune et bleu.
Je suis en équilibre sur une très longue poutre. Un peu de sport fait du bien sur ce parcours mais je suis essoufflée.

Circles of Confusion, received a Student Academy Award at the 34th Annual Student Academy Awards ceremony on June 7, 2008 at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The film also received a “Golden Gate Award“ in the New Visions category from the San Francisco International Film Festival , an audience award for “Best Experimental Short“ from the Santa Cruz Film Festival and a Jury's Citation/2nd Prize from the Black Maria Film Festival.
