Julian Dennison, the young New Zealand star of cult favourite Hunt for the Wilderpeople, has joined the cast of Deadpool 2.
Star Ryan Reynolds shared the news via an Instagram post, showing Dennison riding piggyback on Deadpool, his wisecracking Marvel superhero from last year's box office-breaking blockbuster.

The role marks the Hollywood debut for the 14-year-old actor, who won over audiences with his charmingly precocious performance in last year's sleeper hit Hunt for the Wilderpeople, from Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi.
Waititi, who starred alongside Reynolds in 2011's Green Lantern, tweeted his delight in the announcement.
"Never in my wilderpeoplest dreams would I have imagined this picture existing. But... Yessss," he wrote.
Deadpool 2, which began filming in Vancouver this week, is already one of next year's most anticipated releases.

The original film, released last February, was a critical and commercial smash for studio Fox, pulling in over $1 billion at the global box office (including $43 million in Australia), off a measly $75 million budget.

It also earned two Golden Globes nominations, and was part of a serious push for Oscars consideration, although it was ultimately snubbed by Academy voters.
The sequel has been mired in controversy during development, with original director Tim Miller leaving the film following "creative differences" with star/producer Reynolds. Directing duties have since gone to David Leitch, the co-director of 2014's stylish action-thriller John Wick.
