Just like Spiderman, Audi's all-new A8 limousine is still wearing a disguise.

But the German brand's superhero has hit the streets for the first time, making its official debut at the red carpet premiere for the latest Marvel Studios blockbuster in Hollywood overnight.

The lightly camouflaged sedan was used to chauffeur the star of Spiderman; Homecoming, actor Tom Holland, to the movie's premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard as it will also make a cameo appearance in the latest instalment of the Avengers franchise, showcasing its cutting-edge semi autonomous driving technology.

The web of intrigue will be lifted on the A8 when it is revealed in full next month in Barcelona.

Until then, its Hollywood appearance highlights a much sharper looking design for the flagship limousine, but one that has strong family ties to latest smaller models such as the A4 and A5 coupe.

Befitting its status as the company's technological tour de force, the A8 will debut a raft of new technologies developed by Audi including its next step in autonomous driving, a highly-advanced active suspension system that can read the road ahead and prepare for, rather than react to, bumps and the next-level in connectivity.

Using the latest lightweight construction methods, it is expected to be lighter than the model it replaces even though it the current car is one of the class benchmarks as a result of its all-aluminium underpinnings. It will also be more efficient than before with a range of new engines, including a hybrid variant for the first time.

Full details of the new A8 will be revealed on July 11 with the car expected to be available locally early next year.
