Iowa

Iowa (ⁱ/ˈaɪ.əwə/) is a U.S. state in the Midwestern United States, bordered by the Mississippi River on the east and the Missouri River and the Big Sioux River on the west, by Wisconsin and Illinois to the east, Missouri to the south, Nebraska and South Dakota to the west, and Minnesota to the north.

In colonial times, Iowa was a part of French Louisiana and Spanish Louisiana; its state flag is patterned after the flag of France. After the Louisiana Purchase, settlers laid the foundation for an agriculture-based economy in the heart of the Corn Belt.

In the latter half of the 20th century, Iowa's agricultural economy made the transition to a diversified economy of advanced manufacturing, processing, financial services, information technology, biotechnology, and green energy production. Iowa is the 26th most extensive in land area and the 30th most populous of the 50 United States. Its capital and largest city is Des Moines. Iowa has been listed as one of the safest states in which to live. Its nickname is the Hawkeye State.

Truck Simulator (series)

Truck Simulator is a vehicle simulation game series created by SCS Software. The first title in the series, Euro Truck Simulator, was released on August 29, 2008 for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X and the first European-truck simulation established gameplay. The sequel to Euro Truck Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator 2, was released on October 19, 2012 for Microsoft Windows and in 2013 for Linux.

Euro Truck Simulator

The first Euro Truck Simulator was released on August 29, 2008 for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X and the first European-developed truck simulation of the games. Players choose their starting country from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (versions 1.2 and 1.3 only). Initially, players only have access to their starting country, except if it contains less than three cities, in which this case one or more adjacent countries will be accessible as well. For example, if a player starts the game in Italy or Switzerland, they get connection to the other for free. From there, players choose their first truck with a budget of €100,000.

American Truck Simulator

American Truck Simulator is a vehicle simulation game. It is developed by SCS Software, and is the parallel video game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. It was revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 (E3 2015), although it was first announced in September 2013. The game was released on February 2, 2016.

Development

SCS Software first announced the game on September 6, 2013. It was revealed at E3 in 2015.

On April 11, 2014, SCS Software announced that there will be more than 100 cities in the game and released screenshots of the game. Truck brands included on American Truck Simulator so far are Kenworth and Peterbilt, but more will follow. The game will start off in California and Nevada, and expand from there. SCS plans to eventually include the entire North American continent. On January 26, 2015, SCS Software published a video to YouTube of footage from early alpha of the game. On December 18, 2015, SCS Software announced the official release date for American Truck Simulator, February 3, 2016, on their blog. The game was released 1 day earlier instead.

Dakota City, Iowa

Dakota City is a city in and the county seat of Humboldt County, Iowa, United States. The population was 843 at the 2010 census. Dakota City shares its western border with the much larger city of Humboldt. It is the least populous County Seat in Iowa.

History

Dakota City was laid out in 1855. It was named after the Dakota people. A post office was established as Dakotah in 1856, and renamed Dakota City in 1924.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.78 square miles (2.02 km²), of which, 0.74 square miles (1.92 km²) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km²) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 843 people, 351 households, and 238 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,139.2 inhabitants per square mile (439.8/km²). There were 382 housing units at an average density of 516.2 per square mile (199.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.0% White, 0.1% African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 1.4% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.2% of the population.
