The Black Hills (Ȟe Sápa in Lakota, Moʼȯhta-voʼhonáaeva in Cheyenne, awaxaawi shiibisha in Hidatsa) are a small, isolated mountain range rising from the Great Plains of North America in western South Dakota and extending into Wyoming, United States.Harney Peak, which rises to 7,244 feet (2,208 m), is the range's highest summit. The Black Hills encompass the Black Hills National Forest. The name "Black Hills" is a translation of the Lakota Pahá Sápa. The hills were so-called because of their dark appearance from a distance, as they were covered in trees.
Native Americans have a long history in the Black Hills. After conquering the Cheyenne in 1776, the Lakota took over the territory of the Black Hills, which became central to their culture. In 1868, the U.S. government signed the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868, exempting the Black Hills from all white settlement forever. However, when European Americans discovered gold there in 1874, as a result of George Armstrong Custer's Black Hills Expedition, miners swept into the area in a gold rush. The US government reassigned the Lakota, against their wishes, to other reservations in western South Dakota. Unlike most of South Dakota, the Black Hills were settled by European Americans primarily from population centers to the west and south of the region, as miners flocked there from earlier gold boom locations in Colorado and Montana.
Black Hill may refer to:
Black is the darkest color, the result of the absence of or complete absorption of light. It is the opposite of white (the combined spectrum of color or light). It is an achromatic color, literally a color without color or hue. It is one of the four primary colors in the CMYK color model, along with cyan, yellow, and magenta, used in color printing to produce all the other colors.
Black was one of the first colors used by artists in neolithic cave paintings. In the 14th century, it began to be worn by royalty, the clergy, judges and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and a high fashion color in the 20th century.
In the Roman Empire, it became the color of mourning, and over the centuries it was frequently associated with death, evil, witches and magic. According to surveys in Europe and North America, it is the color most commonly associated with mourning, the end, secrets, magic, force, violence, evil, and elegance.
A hill is a landform that extends above the surrounding terrain. It often has a distinct summit, although in areas with scarp/dip topography a hill may refer to a particular section of flat terrain without a massive summit (e.g. Box Hill, Surrey).
The distinction between a hill and a mountain is unclear and largely subjective, but a hill is universally considered to be less tall and less steep than a mountain. In the United Kingdom, geographers historically regarded mountains as hills greater than 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level, which formed the basis of the plot of the 1995 film The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain. In contrast, hillwalkers have tended to regard mountains as peaks 2,000 feet (610 m) above sea level: the Oxford English Dictionary also suggests a limit of 2,000 feet (610 m) and Whittow states "Some authorities regard eminences above 600 m (2,000 ft) as mountains, those below being referred to as hills." The Great Soviet Encyclopedia defines hill as an upland with a relative height up to 200 m (660 ft).
The Black is a rock band from Austin, Texas that formed in 2002 when singer/songwriter David Longoria began collaborating with drummer Andy Morales. The two were later joined by renowned guitarist Alan Schaefer (son of famous guitar maker Ed Schaefer) and Nick Moulos of the Austin band The Crackpipes.
The group began playing regularly at Emo's and house parties until Schaefer moved to France to teach English in 2004. Longoria joined major label act ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead during the band's hiatus, his first performance with them on the Late Show with David Letterman in January 2005. Schaefer joined the rest of the band to support Trail of Dead on their European Worlds Apart tour. During the tour Trail of Dead was the band's backing band for a handful of shows.
Their full-length album Tanglewood was recorded in 2004 and released the spring of 2005 on their own record label K Woo.
The band's next release, titled Donna, was released in the summer of 2007.

WATCH & SHARE THIS BEFORE SOMEONE TAKES IT DOWN AGAIN! Now that people are starting to wake up and join the search for truth, we felt it time to share one of our darkest secrets. Our friends and fellow hactivists, known as darknet666 (https://darknet666blog.wordpress.com), originally posted this in April 2014 when they found an old dv tape in the Black Hills Forest (Frederick Watershed), Maryland. Within a month, they'd gone missing in those same woods and the video was mysteriously DELETED as part of a COVER-UP. We recently “acquired” the file from our friend’s computer. Travel video about destination Wyoming & South Dakota in USA. Cheyenne is Wyoming’s most populated city. When the railroad was constructed in 1860 this “hell-like settlement at end of the railroad” became an important trading centre. For what was to become the federal government, the State Capitol was built and with its golden dome and Corinthian columns it is similar to its larger counterpart in Washington. In the middle of the eighteenth century French scouts were the first to penetrate this region that was then inhabited by the Arapaho and Shoshone Indians. The cowboys and farmers of the Old West needed to spend their hard earned money and Cheyenne profited accordingly and a profusion of hotels, saloons and warehouses suddenly appeared. The Badlands was given its name by the Native India...

Travel video about destination Mount Rushmore. Set within the Black Hills in the state of South Dakota, is one of the most famous landmarks in the USA, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Four monumental portraits of the most famous American presidents have been carved into the granite and symbolize a kind of spectacular tribute to democracy. Since their unveiling in 1941, the huge faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln have created a good deal of interest. The area around Mount Rushmore is also most striking, as the Black Hills' mountain range is a masterpiece of nature. Twenty-five km southwest of Mount Rushmore is another stone image that towers up from the landscape, the Crazy Horse Memorial. Created in 1947, it commemorates the famous...

After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently. 2015 Black Hills Powwow - Saturday Night
Music: D.Gildenlow
'They tell all the people of Europe, it's a good, clean industry, it's a
great way to save the world. But I'm here to tell you that now they're
knocking on our door because they can't find any place to store the damned
stuff for eternity, They come to our homeland and they want to lease some
land for 10,000 years!'
This was our home - we had our truth
Bled for our creed - why must we still bleed?
Your tailings are bound forever in this ground...
So you come for our holy ground
When your nature's gone and your house has burnt down
For hundreds of years you've hurt this land
Eating what's there, leaving a wasteland
But there are no space to hold all your mistakes
Still you come for our holy ground
When your nature's gone and your houses are all burnt down
[instrumental]
[Hallgren]
'To this day, they will not return our sacred land, even though their
highest hypocritical court said that we could and indeed did, own the
