Radio edit

In music, a radio edit is a modification, typically truncated, to make a song more suitable for airplay, whether it be adjusted for length, profanity, subject matter, instrumentation, or form. Radio edits may also be used for commercial single versions, which may be denoted as the 7" version. However, not all "radio edit" tracks are played on radio.

Editing for time

Radio edits often shorten a long song in order to make it more commercially viable for radio stations. The normal length for songs played on the radio is 3 to 4 minutes. Occasionally, the song will simply fade out earlier, common on tracks with long instrumental endings. For instance, the radio edit of 'Heroes' by David Bowie fades in shortly before the beginning of the third verse and fades out shortly before the vocal vamping at the end of the song. Another example is B.o.B's song, "Nothin' On You" featuring Bruno Mars, whose radio edit skips the first 5 seconds & starts with the 6th second in which Bruno Mars starts singing the first chorus. The second half of the first chorus is sometimes skipped, along with the last 24 seconds which is the normal fade-out part in which B.o.B says, "Yeah, and that's just how we do it/And I'ma let this ride/B.o.B and Bruno Mars", and the radio edit ends with the fourth and last chorus with an earlier fade-out. A 3rd example would be the song, "The Man" by Aloe Blacc, in which the radio edit skips the "I'm the man/Go ahead & tell everybody/What I'm saying ya all" part & the first 10 seconds. Also, the 3rd chorus of the song is shortened. However, many radio edits will also edit out verses, bridges, and interludes, such as the original single edit of "Piano Man" by Billy Joel which substitutes the end of the third verse for the ending of the second verse. Another example for this case is Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors", where the radio edit cuts the entire "You are the love of my life" part.

Paris

Paris (UK: /ˈpærɪs/ PARR-iss; US: ⁱ/ˈpɛərɪs/ PAIR-iss; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country, it is in the centre of the Île-de-France region, also known as the région parisienne, "Paris Region". The administrative region covers 12,012 km² (4,638 mi²), with approximately 12 million inhabitants as of 2014, and has its own regional council and president.

Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.

The Disco Boys

The Disco Boys are a German house music DJ and production duo from Hamburg, which consists of Raphael Krickow and Gordon Hollenga. They are known for playing at the German Love Parade, Nature One, and the Mayday and Life Ball festivals in Austria.

Even though the group was founded in 1995, they did not release their first single until 2001: "Born to Be Alive" from the album Volume 1. It was originally voiced by Roberto Blanco. Their most popular single was "For You" released in 2004, which reached Platinum in Germany.

Paris & Simo

Paris & Simo are a Canadian electronic dance music duo, consisting of producers and deejays Paris Fotis-Zoubris and Simone Teti. Both born and raised in Montreal, they grew up liking the same music and both had been investing in studio and DJ gear since the age of 15, winning several DJ competitions. After meeting up at a sweet sixteen party they decided to collaborate. In their early years, they worked under the Paris FZ & Simo T moniker, but changed to Paris & Simo in 2011.

Their first official release was "Aura" with Mark Mendes, on Starter Records, but what really put them on the international map was winning the remix contest for Tiësto’s "Work Hard Play Hard" single in 2011. Their remix attracted the 2013 & 2014 #1 DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100,Hardwell, to sign them to his Revealed Recordings label. Paris & Simo released "Monk", "Nova", "Seasons", "Escape" ft 3LAU & Bright Lights and "Not Alone" ft. Mako on the label.

"Escape" was featured on Hardwell’s Hardwell Presents Revealed, Vol. 4 compilation and reached the Top 3 of Beatport’s overall chart. The follow-up tracks were released on Ned Sheperd’s Harem Records, Ministry of Sound,Fedde le Grand’s Flamingo Recordings, Spinnin’ Records,Nicky Romero's Protocol Recordings and Armada Music.

Niggas in Paris

"Niggas in Paris" (edited for radio as "In Paris" or simply "Paris", edited for album as "Ni**as in Paris") is a song by American rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z from their collaboration album Watch the Throne (2011).

The song contains samples from "Baptizing Scene" by Reverend W.A. Donaldson and also samples dialogue from DreamWorks Pictures' 2007 film Blades of Glory. It debuted at number 75 on the US Billboard Hot 100 on the week of the album's release. The song has since peaked at number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Kanye West's 14th top-10 single and Jay-Z's 18th making Jay-Z the rapper with the most top-10 hits. As of November 2012, it has sold 3 million digital units in the United States.

"Niggas in Paris" won Best Rap Performance at the 55th Grammy Awards.

Background

In an interview, Kanye West revealed that the song was inspired by his travels in Paris:

The song's production was originally offered to rapper Pusha T by Hit-Boy. However, Pusha turned it down, saying "It sounds like a video game. Get that shit out of here!"
