The Office of Communications (Welsh: Y Swyddfa Gyfathrebiadau), commonly known as Ofcom, is the government-approved regulatory and competition authority for the broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries of the United Kingdom.
Ofcom has wide-ranging powers across the television, radio, telecoms and postal sectors. It has a statutory duty to represent the interests of citizens and consumers by promoting competition and protecting the public from harmful or offensive material.
Some of the main areas Ofcom presides over are licensing, research, codes and policies, complaints, competition and protecting the radio spectrum from abuse (e.g. pirate radio stations).
The regulator was initially established by the Office of Communications Act 2002 and received its full authority from the Communications Act 2003.
The creation of Ofcom was announced in the Queen's Speech to the UK Parliament in June 2001. The new body, which would replace several existing authorities, was conceived as a "super-regulator" to oversee media channels that were rapidly converging through digital transmission.
The Whites are an American country music vocal group consisting of lead singer Sharon White, her sister Cheryl (born 1955), and their father Buck (born 1930). In the 1980s, they scored such hits as "You Put The Blue In Me", "Hangin' Around", "Give Me Back That Old Familiar Feeling", "Pins And Needles", "If It Ain't Love (Let's Leave It Alone)", "Hometown Gossip", and "When The New Wears Off of Our Love".
In August 1981, Sharon White married Ricky Skaggs, who performed on several of the Whites' early releases. In 1987, the couple released the hit song, "Love Can't Ever Get Better Than This".
In 1991, the Whites joined producers Randall Franks and Alan Autry on the In The Heat Of The Night TV series album entitled Christmas Time's A Comin', performing on the track, "Let's Live Everyday Like It Was Christmas" (Sonlite/MGM/UA).
As of 2007, the Whites are regular performers on the Grand Ole Opry program in Nashville, Tennessee. Their collaborative album with Ricky Skaggs, "Salt of the Earth" won the 2008 Grammy for Best Southern/Country/Bluegrass Album.

Britain is also the focus for our feature this week. The UK's Office of Communications (OFCOM) is the regulator enforcing media regulations for all news organisations in the UK - except the BBC. OFCOM has pursued complaints against Russia's RT, Iran's Press TV, and Murdoch's News Corporation, but the BBC operates under different rules. With elections approaching, the performance of the media is thrown into sharp relief and the remit of OFCOM needs a closer look. The Listening Post's Flo Phillips reports.
For more: https://www.youtube.com/user/breakingtheset Afshin Rattansi of Going Underground discusses Ofcom and Britain's censorship of narratives that question or run counter to the state line, like RT UK's. Power-worshiping News Corp, which essentially works as a mouthpiece for private controlled state power, is fine, apparently. Once again, it still proves: If you're banned in the UK, you must be doing something inherently good for the planet.

I recently made a spectrum abuse complaint to Ofcom. They sent an engineer and the regional manager. During that visit Ofcom failed to allow me to demonstrate or explain the problem adequately and then WALKED OUT ON ME, let themselves through my house, ignored my wife and left site. I subsequently made a Subject Access Request and received 285 pages of intelligence, containing significant misrepresentation of me, of verbal exchanges (I have a recording to prove) and of my station. Ofcom subsequently conducted a site audit without my knowledge. That audit, which is contained in full in the SAR demonstrates significant incompetence. One of the tests they conducted was with a Yaesu FT-817 (10 years old) and a whip antenna and Ofcom claim that with this they drove past my house and around t...

Chorus:
Yes, we have come to share with you
The wonders of His love
And we have come to share with you
The glories from above
And it may not be just what you thought you'd hear
So we'll try so hard to make it very clear
That we have come to sing for you
And fellowship with friends
And we have come to give to you
A joy that never ends
Though it may not be received by everyone (come on ya'll you got us here us through)
Won't you listen to the story of the Son
Bridge:
Jesus came to earth (Jesus)
Gave His life for humanity (Know He gave his life)
Jesus crucified (Jesus crucified)
Gave His all so we'd hear His call and the best of all we'd be free
Freedom, sing about freedom (freedom, freedom)
Oh in Jesus, sing about Jesus, Jesus Christ (Jesus)
Freedom, sing about freedom (freedom, freedom)
Oh in Jesus, sing about Jesus, Jesus Christ (Jesus)
