Charlottetown /ˈʃɑːrləttaʊn/ is a Canadian city. It is both the largest city on and the provincial capital of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, queen consort of the United Kingdom, Charlottetown was originally an unincorporated town that incorporated as a city in 1855. It was most famously the site of the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the first gathering of Canadian and Maritime statesmen to debate the proposed Maritime Union and the more persuasive British North American Union, now known as Canadian Confederation. From this, the city adopted as its motto "Cunabula Foederis" – "Birthplace of Confederation".
The population of Charlottetown in the 2011 census was 34,562; this forms the centre of a census agglomeration of 64,487, which is slightly less than half of the province's population (140,204).
The first European settlers in the area were French; personnel from Fortress Louisbourg founded a settlement in 1720 named Port La Joye on the southwestern part of the harbour opposite the present-day city. This settlement was led by Michel Haché-Gallant, who used his sloop to ferry Acadian settlers from Louisbourg.
Prince Edward may refer to:
Prince Edward Island (PEI or P.E.I.; French: Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is a province of Canada consisting of the island of the same name, as well as several much smaller islands.
It is one of the three Maritime Provinces and is the smallest province in both land area and population. It is the only province of Canada to have no land boundary. The island has several informal names: "Garden of the Gulf," referring to the pastoral scenery and lush agricultural lands throughout the province; and "Birthplace of Confederation" or "Cradle of Confederation", referring to the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, although PEI did not join Confederation until 1873, when it became the seventh Canadian province. The backbone of the economy is farming, as it produces 25% of Canada's potatoes. Historically, PEI is one of Canada's older settlements and demographically still reflects older immigration to the country, with Celtic, Anglo Saxon and French last names being overwhelmingly dominant to this day.
Edward Island is an island in Lake Superior, located southwest of the Black Bay Peninsula in Thunder Bay District, Northwestern Ontario. It is located about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from Porphyry Island Provincial Park, about 12 km (7.5 mi) from Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and 16 km (9.9 mi) east of Silver Islet, Ontario. The island is about 42 km (26 mi) kilometres east of the city of Thunder Bay.
The entire 600-hectare (2.3 sq mi) island constitutes the Edward Island Provincial Park or nature reserve.
Real estate is "property consisting of land and the buildings on it, along with its natural resources such as crops, minerals, or water; immovable property of this nature; an interest vested in this (also) an item of real property; (more generally) buildings or housing in general. Also: the business of real estate; the profession of buying, selling, or renting land, buildings or housing."
It is a legal term used in jurisdictions such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Residential real estate is a type of property, containing either a single family or multifamily structure, that is available for occupation for non-business purposes.
Residences can be classified by, if, and how they are connected to neighbouring residences and land. Different types of housing tenure can be used for the same physical type. For example, connected residents might be owned by a single entity and leased out, or owned separately with an agreement covering the relationship between units and common areas and concerns.
A trip around downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - July 19th, 2016 Sorry for the bumpy video. The roads are bumpy. Plus it's the first time for me doing a video while driving. Also, apparently my car needs a cleaning. You can see dog fur all over the dash. LOL. I need to get on that! Hope you enjoy the video of my journey through downtown Charlottetown, PEI BTW - the 3 industries on PEI are farming (potatoes), fishing, and tourism. :)
I fell in love with downtown Charlottetown! I often visit but don't spend time talking down the streets! It was so beautiful and I really loved it! I also got to hang out with family at a reunion consisting of atving, laughs, beach combing and kitchen dance parties! This was such a fun Saturday and I am so happy I captured it! According to The Guardian, Charlottetown's and Prince Edward Islands local newspaper, this has been the heaviest snow fall winter on record. Winter hit us this year with a vengeance and mother nature did not even allow for a break in between as one system was moving out the other was very close behind keeping us indoors for many days at a time. I truly understand now why islanders head to the grocery store and stock up and buy supplies as they know the drill. Prince Edward Island, Canada is a great place to slow down, enjoy the sights, the sea salt air, slower traffic, hiking the trails, beaches, golfing, kayaking, fishing, collecting sea shells, restaurants, shopping, getting back to the quiet walks, reading a book and enjoying family, friends and new friends alike in a welcoming atm...
