On Thu May 6, 2010, we visited Aratani/Japan America Theatre in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles to take a look at Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival 2010 Closing Night.
We spotted David Magdael, the festival co-director. We asked him about this Film Festival.
Katz, the editor-in-chief of YokosoNews, has very close relationship to LAAPFF.
He has witnessed the growth of Asian and Asian American film community. YokosoNews would like to support that in addition to Japanese film community.
We talked about how LAAPFF formed its course. And we encouraged all Japanese filmmakers and Asian filmmakers to submit your films to LAAPFF next year.

As you already know, I have been making a documentary about the debate surrounding HIV in terms of whether or not it causes AIDS. The film's creation wouldn't have been possible without all of your wonderful support. I was able to travel across the country and interview doctors, scientists and patients and it was all because of your donations and the frequent flier miles that Tony Mason donated to the project. Over the past five years I've seen some miraculous stuff and some tragedies as well. People with HIV diagnoses could completely reverse their death sentences and were even able to turn their HIV test results around. Other people weren't so lucky and died much too young. The differences in people's life-spans with HIV diagnoses could be a result of so many things and it makes the science that much more important in looking at when deciding if HIV is really what is linking all of these patients together. It is so important for me to make this documentary because it is a matter of the amount of proteins a person has in their blood that makes them test positive on these HIV antibody tests but we don't know if these tests mean anything because everyone has these proteins in their blood anyway.
These people who question AIDS science are called AIDS dissidents and my goal with this film is to force a dialog between the mainstream and the dissidents. I want to represent truth as best as it can possibly come to be known but also give a personal twist to how it is presented to show where I am coming from in making this documentary. I want to show why I care so much about this topic because after showing the film at a test screening many viewers wanted to know more about what made me so interested in the topic of the AIDS debate. That is why I need to hire a new editor to help re-shape this film. The film has already been edited and we thought it was completed. Digital Magic Entertainment did a beautiful job editing it for such a fraction of the amount of money they deserved, but we still want this film to be the best it can be so that it can attain all the presetigious accolades it deserves. We will be able to reach our goal of finishing the film and giving it a higher production value by reaching our goal of $3300 to be able to pay the editor, Pepa Albornoz, who wants to make this film really shine. She cares about giving the film more of a narrative arc and making it balanced with just the right amount of science and personal touch to keep people watching and at the edge of their seats the whole way through. Pepa is willing to work for low pay because she knows the importance of having this film made the best it can be. We are hoping to finish the film by the end of August so that it can be sent to Sundance this year and submitted to major television broadcast stations like PBS and HBO. I spoke to David Magdael, a very well-known distributor who was interested in this film, but the advice that he gave me was to make sure that it was completely finished before showing the film to distributors.

His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.

Film festival
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. Asia-Pacific
Asia-Pacific or Asia Pacific (abbreviated as Asia-Pac, AsPac, APAC, APJ, JAPA or JAPAC) is the part of the world in or near the Western Pacific Ocean. The region varies in size depending on which context, but it typically includes much of East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.
The term may also include Russia (on the North Pacific) and countries in the Americas which are on the coast of the Eastern Pacific Ocean; the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, for example, includes Canada, Chile, Russia, Mexico, Peru, and the United States.
Alternatively, the term sometimes comprises all of Asia and Australasia as well as small/medium/large Pacific island nations (Asia Pacific and Australasian Continent) - for example when dividing the world into large regions for commercial purposes (e.g. into Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific).
On the whole there appears to be no clear cut definition of "Asia Pacific" and the regions included change as per the context.
Though imprecise, the term has become popular since the late 1980s in commerce, finance and politics. Los Angeles (

Super Size Me
Super Size Me is a 2004 American documentary film directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock, an American independent filmmaker. Spurlock's film follows a 30-day period from February 1 to March 2, 2003, during which he ate only McDonald's food. The film documents this lifestyle's drastic effect on Spurlock's physical and psychological well-being, and explores the fast food industry's corporate influence, including how it encourages poor nutrition for its own profit.
Spurlock ate at McDonald's restaurants three times per day, eating every item on the chain's menu at least once. Spurlock consumed an average of 20.9 megajoules or 5,000 kcal (the equivalent of 9.26 Big Macs) per day during the experiment. An intake of around 2,500 kcal within a healthy balanced diet is more generally recommended for a man to maintain his weight. As a result, the then-32-year-old Spurlock gained 11.1 kilograms (24 lb), a 13% body mass increase, increased his cholesterol to 230 mg/dL, and experienced mood swings, sexual dysfunction, and fat accumulation in his liver. It took Spurlock fourteen months to lose the weight gained from his experiment using a vegan diet supervised by his then-girlfriend, a chef who specializes in gourmet vegan dishes.

As you already know, I have been making a documentary about the debate surrounding HIV in terms of whether or not it causes AIDS. The film's creation wouldn't have been possible without all of your wonderful support. I was able to travel across the country and interview doctors, scientists and patients and it was all because of your donations and the frequent flier miles that Tony Mason donated to the project. Over the past five years I've seen some miraculous stuff and some tragedies as well. As you already know, I have been making a documentary about the debate surrounding HIV in terms of whether or not it causes AIDS. The film's creation wouldn't have been possible without all of your wonderful support. I was able to travel across the country and interview doctors, scientists and patients and it was all because of your donations and the frequent flier miles that Tony Mason donated to the project. Over the past five years I've seen some miraculous stuff and some tragedies as well. People with HIV diagnoses could completely reverse their death sentences and were even able to turn their HIV test results around. Other people weren't so lucky and died much too young. The differences in people's life-spans with HIV diagnoses could be a result of so many things and it makes the science that much more important in looking at when deciding if HIV is really what is linking all of these patients together. It is so important for me to make this documentary because it is a matter of the amount of proteins a person has in their blood that makes them test positive on these HIV antibody tests but we don't know if these tests mean anything because everyone has these proteins in their blood anyway.
These people who question AIDS science are called AIDS dissidents and my goal with this film is to force a dialog between the mainstream and the dissidents. I want to represent truth as best as it can possibly come to be known but also give a personal twist to how it is presented to show where I am coming from in making this documentary. I want to show why I care so much about this topic because after showing the film at a test screening many viewers wanted to know more about what made me so interested in the topic of the AIDS debate. That is why I need to hire a new editor to help re-shape this film. The film has already been edited and we thought it was completed. Digital Magic Entertainment did a beautiful job editing it for such a fraction of the amount of money they deserved, but we still want this film to be the best it can be so that it can attain all the presetigious accolades it deserves. We will be able to reach our goal of finishing the film and giving it a higher production value by reaching our goal of $3300 to be able to pay the editor, Pepa Albornoz, who wants to make this film really shine. She cares about giving the film more of a narrative arc and making it balanced with just the right amount of science and personal touch to keep people watching and at the edge of their seats the whole way through. Pepa is willing to work for low pay because she knows the importance of having this film made the best it can be. We are hoping to finish the film by the end of August so that it can be sent to Sundance this year and submitted to major television broadcast stations like PBS and HBO. I spoke to David Magdael, a very well-known distributor who was interested in this film, but the advice that he gave me was to make sure that it was completely finished before showing the film to distributors.

While Louis prepares for a funeral for his neglected best friend, a former flame returns in his life for a day.
Nostalgia can become an accidental addiction. You can be triggered by familiarity through sight, touch, and sound and it can feel great to remember those things. However, it is important to keep those things in small doses. We cannot let ourselves pine for the past or else that will be the only thing that we can rely on.
The style for this film came to me while taking my Contemporary Art Cinema class where we watched films such as Wong Kar-Wai's IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and Lucretia Martel's LA MUJER SIN CABEZA. The film techniques that tied in with the themes of the film astounded me and it pushed me to make a film in that direction.

Dana.io HIV, A Whole Different Story
As you already know, I have been making a documentary about the debate surrounding HIV in terms of whether or not it causes AIDS. The film's creation wouldn't have been possible without all of your wonderful support. I was able to travel across the country and interview doctors, scientists and patients and it was all because of your donations and the frequent flier miles that Tony Mason donated to the project. Over the past five years I've seen some miraculous stuff and some tragedies as well. People with HIV diagnoses could completely reverse their death sentences and were even able to turn their HIV test results around. Other people weren't so lucky and died much too young. As you already know, I have been making a documentary about the debate surrounding HIV in terms of whether or not it causes AIDS. The film's creation wouldn't have been possible without all of your wonderful support. I was able to travel across the country and interview doctors, scientists and patients and it was all because of your donations and the frequent flier miles that Tony Mason donated to the project. Over the past five years I've seen some miraculous stuff and some tragedies as well. People with HIV diagnoses could completely reverse their death sentences and were even able to turn their HIV test results around. Other people weren't so lucky and died much too young. The differences in people's life-spans with HIV diagnoses could be a result of so many things and it makes the science that much more important in looking at when deciding if HIV is really what is linking all of these patients together. It is so important for me to make this documentary because it is a matter of the amount of proteins a person has in their blood that makes them test positive on these HIV antibody tests but we don't know if these tests mean anything because everyone has these proteins in their blood anyway.
These people who question AIDS science are called AIDS dissidents and my goal with this film is to force a dialog between the mainstream and the dissidents. I want to represent truth as best as it can possibly come to be known but also give a personal twist to how it is presented to show where I am coming from in making this documentary. I want to show why I care so much about this topic because after showing the film at a test screening many viewers wanted to know more about what made me so interested in the topic of the AIDS debate. That is why I need to hire a new editor to help re-shape this film. The film has already been edited and we thought it was completed. Digital Magic Entertainment did a beautiful job editing it for such a fraction of the amount of money they deserved, but we still want this film to be the best it can be so that it can attain all the presetigious accolades it deserves. We will be able to reach our goal of finishing the film and giving it a higher production value by reaching our goal of $3300 to be able to pay the editor, Pepa Albornoz, who wants to make this film really shine. She cares about giving the film more of a narrative arc and making it balanced with just the right amount of science and personal touch to keep people watching and at the edge of their seats the whole way through. Pepa is willing to work for low pay because she knows the importance of having this film made the best it can be. We are hoping to finish the film by the end of August so that it can be sent to Sundance this year and submitted to major television broadcast stations like PBS and HBO. I spoke to David Magdael, a very well-known distributor who was interested in this film, but the advice that he gave me was to make sure that it was completely finished before showing the film to distributors.

-I See Us-
While Louis prepares for a funeral for his neglected best friend, a former flame returns in his life for a day.
Nostalgia can become an accidental addiction. You can be triggered by familiarity through sight, touch, and sound and it can feel great to remember those things. However, it is important to keep those things in small doses. We cannot let ourselves pine for the past or else that will be the only thing that we can rely on.
The style for this film came to me while taking my Contemporary Art Cinema class where we watched films such as Wong Kar-Wai's IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and Lucretia Martel's LA MUJER SIN CABEZA. The film techniques that tied in with the themes of the film astounded me and it pushed me to make a film in that direction.
My Filmmaking III project shot back in 2014.
