Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu (Hebrew: בִּנְיָמִין "בִּיבִּי" נְתָנְיָהוּ , Arabic: بنيامين نتانياهو; born 21 October 1949) is the current Prime Minister of Israel. He also currently serves as a member of the Knesset and Chairman of the Likud party.
Born in Tel Aviv to secular Jewish parents, Netanyahu is the first Israeli prime minister born in Israel after the establishment of the state. Netanyahu joined the Israel Defense Forces shortly after the Six-Day War in 1967 and became a team leader in the Sayeret Matkal special forces unit. He took part in many missions, including Operation Inferno (1968), Operation Gift (1968) and Operation Isotope (1972), during which he was shot in the shoulder. He fought on the front lines in the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War in 1973, taking part in special forces raids along the Suez Canal, and then leading a commando assault deep into Syrian territory. He achieved the rank of captain before being discharged. After graduating from MIT with SB and SM degrees, he was recruited as an economic consultant for the Boston Consulting Group. He returned to Israel in 1978 to found the Yonatan Netanyahu Anti-Terror Institute, named after his brother Yonatan Netanyahu, who died leading Operation Entebbe. Netanyahu served as the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations from 1984 to 1988.

Peter Greenberg explores Israel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel used one of the most prominent platforms in the world on Tuesday to warn against what he called a “bad deal” being negotiated with Iran to freeze its nuclear program, bringing to a culmination a drama that has roiled Israeli-American relations for weeks. I'm going to say something now that some of you will not believe. But I'm going to say it anyway because it's true. I, the Prime Minister of Israel, care more about Palestinians than their own leaders do. Israel cares more about Palestinians than their own leaders do. That sounds incredible, right? But consider the following: A few days ago, the world learned that Hamas, the terrorist organization that rules Gaza, stole millions of dollars from humanitarian organizations like World Vision and the United Nations. Innocent and impoverished Palestinians were denied vital aid supplied from nations around the world. Hamas used this stolen money to build a war machine to murder Jews. I want you to think about that. Let that sink in. Hamas stole critical support for Palestinian children s...

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu on Israel's prerequisites for peace with the Palestinians.
"Reiterating a point made in an interview on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Sunday morning that Hamas was intentionally endangering Palestinian civilians to create gruesome images that would turn the international community against Israel. "We're sad for every civilian casualty," Netanyahu said. "They're not intended. This is the difference between us. Hamas deliberately targets civilians and deliberately hides behind civilians. They embed their rocketeers, their rocket caches, their other weaponry from which they fire, which they use to fire on us, in civilian areas. What choice do we have? We have to protect ourselves.""* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more here from Evan McMurry / Mediaite:...

During the Israeli election, Benjamin Netanyahu made a promise to never allow a Palestinian state if he was elected. That played well with a significant portion of Israelis – but what do Palestinians think about his bold statement? Adriana Vargas, anchor for Univision 41, sat down with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who expanded some of the thoughts he shared at his UN speech. Among them, he said Israel won't agree to a settlement freeze, and that while Palestinians ask for recognition as a state, he demands the same for Israel.
I've just watched a video that shook me to the core of my being. In just a few seconds, it shows why our conflict persists. So here is a short snippet: "Shoot him! Shoot him! Here he is. Go, go. Shoot him!" A Palestinian father holds up his 4-year-old son. He pleads with Israeli border police to kill his own child. He shouts, "Shoot this little boy!" His boy. He pushes his young son forward toward the soldiers and screams, "Kill him! Shoot him!" The boy pauses. He is scared. Any child would be. He turns back, looking at his father for guidance. With his shirt tightly tucked into his bright red shorts, the boy ambles forward towards the soldiers. One of them extends his hand in friendship. The boy gives him a high-five. It's hard to make a four-year-old hate. Imagine your own...
Are Israel and the Palestinians on their way to a compromise or to a continued freeze? Despite reports about an approaching meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Netanyahu posted a video in which he condemned the Palestinian’s request for a state without Jews – according to him. Over the past few days, the media has published that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas have agreed to Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin’s plan and will meet in Russia – a report that is yet to be confirmed by Israel. Today (Friday), the Israeli Prime Minister posted a video that should tone down the excitement towards a peace talk renewal, in which he blamed the entire world for ignorin...
Natural Sound Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat met Wednesday in an ice-breaking summit. After recent speculation over the future of the peace process, the two leaders met face to face at the Erez checkpoint in Gaza. It is Netanyahu's first encounter with the Palestinian leader whom he had long condemned as a terrorist. As Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's convoy arrived at the Erez checkpoint in Gaza Wednesday security was tight for the historic meeting. Helicopters hovered above as Palestinian leader Arafat arrived to meet with Netanyahu. Despite the tight security and the uncertainty of where the meeting would eventually take place, it is clearly a positive step in relations between the two sides. The leaders did not spe...
