A pattern, apart from the term's use to mean "Template", is a discernible regularity in the world or in a manmade design. As such, the elements of a pattern repeat in a predictable manner. A geometric pattern is a kind of pattern formed of geometric shapes and typically repeating like a wallpaper.
Any of the five senses may directly observe patterns. Conversely, abstract patterns in science, mathematics, or language may be observable only by analysis. Direct observation in practice means seeing visual patterns, which are widespread in nature and in art. Visual patterns in nature are often chaotic, never exactly repeating, and often involve fractals. Natural patterns include spirals, meanders, waves, foams, tilings, cracks, and those created by symmetries of rotation and reflection. Patterns have an underlying mathematical structure; indeed, mathematics can be seen as the search for regularities, and the output of any function is a mathematical pattern. Similarly in the sciences, theories explain and predict regularities in the world.

Costa Rica (i/ˌkoʊstə ˈriːkə/; Spanish: [ˈkosta ˈrika]; literally meaning, "Rich Coast"), officially the Republic of Costa Rica (Spanish: República de Costa Rica), is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Ecuador to the south of Cocos Island. It has a population of around 4.5 million, of whom nearly a quarter live in the metropolitan area of the capital and largest city, San José.
Costa Rica was sparsely inhabited by indigenous people before coming under Spanish rule in the 16th century. It remained a peripheral colony of the empire until independence as part of the short-lived First Mexican Empire, followed by membership in the United Provinces of Central America, from which it formally declared sovereignty in 1847. Since then, Costa Rica has remained among the most stable, prosperous, and progressive nations in Latin America. Following a brief but bloody civil war, it permanently abolished its army in 1949, becoming the first of only a few sovereign nations without a standing army.

Big Mouth (Lakota: Itȟáŋka) (born 1822–died October 29, 1869) was an Oglala-born leader of the Brulé Lakota, highly regarded by the Brulé for his bravery and aggressive military leadership. He was one of the signers of the second Treaty of Fort Laramie in 1868 and remained a bitter opponent of further American settlement, ridiculing Spotted Tail and other Sioux leaders upon their return from a mission to Washington, D.C.. He was the first son of Old Chief Smoke (1774–1864) and his third wife, Burnt Her Woman. His twin brother was Blue Horse.
One of the principal leaders at the Whetstone Indian Agency, located along the Missouri River, where most of the Brulé and Oglala bands had gathered, Big Mouth gained increasing support for his stance among members of the tribe. He criticized what he described as Spotted Tail's reversal of Sioux policy, saying Spotted Tail had been entertained by American politicians and given a personal tour through the major cities of the east coast. Faced with increasing opposition to his leadership, Spotted Tail visited Big Mouth at his lodge, where, upon approaching the entrance, Big Mouth was seized by two warriors and held down while Spotted Tail shot and killed him.

The Android pattern lock screen consists of 9 contact points arranged in a 3 x 3 matrix. Acceptable patterns are conditioned by three main rules: 1. A minimum of four contact points must be connected, and the maximum number is obviously 9. 2. A contact point can only be used once! 3. An intermediate point between two connected points, must be included in the pattern order, unless it was previously used! So how many different combinations are possible on the pattern lock screen? Under the conditions created by these rules you can create a total of 389,112 different patterns! Patterns of Harmony is a mirrored projection mapping installation inspired by quantum physics and a research to find the origin of geometry. It focuses on all of nature's weird beauty, takes concepts from far beyond the perceptivity of the human mind and attempts to translate them into a unified, spatial form. The physical object is a fractal of cubes, though it does not contain any physical cubes, only reflections and projections of it. It is built by applying a combination of rear-projection and two-way mirror foils on acrylic glass, and the final effect is achieved by mapping and projecting animated graphics on the back of the installation. Thereby the light gets “trapped inside” the object, breaks on it’s physical structure and create the illusion of other shapes, eventually letting o...

Time Out London said: "Travis creates a hermetic, entrancing world poised somewhere between Norman Rockwell and Wes Anderson, a place of high-stem lamps and crinoline, bitten lips and incongruous dialogue."

by @notthisbody and @jason_silva http://notthisbody.com INSPIRATION: Albert-László Barabási, author of LINKED, wants you to think about NETWORKS: “Networks are everywhere. The brain is a network of nerve cells connected by axons, and cells themselves are networks of molecules connected by biochemical reactions. Societies, too, are networks of people linked by friendships, familial relationships and professional ties. On a larger scale, food webs and ecosystems can be represented as networks of species. There's one for the sorrow and two for the joy
And three for the girls and four for the boys
There's five for the silver and six for the gold
And seven for the secrets that are never to be told
There's eight in the river and nine in my head
And ten of the worst kind sleeping in my bed
There's a pattern, there's a pattern, there's a pattern there to follow
A pattern, there's a pattern, there's a pattern there to follow
Oh, oh, oh, to follow
Oh, oh, oh, to follow
There's one for the money and two for the sin
And three for the tongue when authority kicks in
There's four for the reason and five for the tricks
But nothing's going to save you from the six six six
There's seven for the days and seven for the nights
And seven for the heavens and the tunnel and the lights
There's a pattern, there's a pattern, there's a pattern there to follow
A pattern, there's a pattern, there's a pattern there to follow
Oh, oh, oh, to follow
Oh, oh, oh, to follow
To follow
To follow
To follow
Oh, oh, oh, to follow
