Telephone numbers in South Africa

South Africa has switched to a closed numbering system. From 16 January 2007 it became mandatory to dial the full 10 digit telephone number including the three-digit area code even for local calls. The trunk prefix is still '0', with the system generally organised geographically. All telephone numbers are 10 digits long (including the 3 for area code), except for certain Telkom special services. When dialed from another country, the '0' is omitted and replaced with the appropriate international access code.

Numbers were initially allocated when South Africa had four provinces, meaning that ranges are now split across the current nine provinces.

Pegboard Nerds

Pegboard Nerds is a Danish/Norwegian electronic music group, consisting of Alexander Odden and Michael Parsberg.

Odden and Parsberg met for the first time in 2005 and formed the group. Previously their records were released with disco:wax.

The name Pegboard Nerds is an anagram of Odden and Parsberg.

On October 21, 2015, the duo released "Pink Cloud EP" to fund Breast Cancer research. The release reached number #2 on the iTunes Dance Chart.

Star Wars

Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas. It depicts the adventures of various characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away".

The first film in the series, Star Wars (later subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope), was released on May 25, 1977 by 20th Century Fox and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. It was followed by the similarly successful sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983); these three films constitute the original Star Wars trilogy. A prequel trilogy was later released between 1999 and 2005, which received a more mixed reaction from critics and fans, compared to the original trilogy. All seven films were nominated for or won Academy Awards, and were commercial successes, with a combined box office revenue of $4.38 billion, making Star Wars the fourth highest-grossing film series. The series has spawned an extensive media franchise—the Star Wars expanded universe—including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books, resulting in significant development of the series's fictional universe. Star Wars also holds a Guinness World Records title for the "Most successful film merchandising franchise." In 2012, the total value of the Star Wars franchise was estimated at USD $30.7 billion, including box-office receipts as well as profits from their video games and DVD sales.

Star Wars Uncut

Star Wars Uncut is a 2010 online parody film produced, edited and directed by Casey Pugh. It is a shot-for-shot recreation of the 1977 film Star Wars consisting of 473 fifteen-second segments created and submitted from a variety of participants. The full film was made available on YouTube in August 2010 for free distribution. Several clips from the film were used in the 2010 documentary The People vs. George Lucas.

Production

In July 2009, Pugh created a website where fans could sign up to recreate specific 15-second scenes from the Star Wars film. Multiple submissions were submitted for each scene, and votes were held to determine which ones would be added to the final film. Although the scenes reflect the dialogue and imagery of the original film, each scene is created in a separate distinct style, such as live-action, animation and stop-motion.

Many of the sequences are filmed in deliberately crude, low-budget or otherwise comical manners, and the actors do not always resemble the original cast. One scene is a stop-motion sequence using Lego Star Wars figurines. Another mimics the animation style of the 1968 Beatles film Yellow Submarine. Others are parodies of specific pop culture subgenres, such as anime and grindhouse films.Star Wars Pez candy dispensers are featured prominently in some scenes.
