Scuderia Toro Rosso, commonly known as Toro Rosso or by its abbreviation STR, is an Italian Formula One racing team. It is one of two F1 teams owned by Austrian beverage company Red Bull, the other being Red Bull Racing. It made its racing debut in the 2006 Formula One season, after Paul Stoddart sold his remaining interest in the Minardi team at the end of 2005 to Red Bull's owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, who subsequently struck a 50/50 joint-ownership deal with former F1 driver, Gerhard Berger, before the start of the season. In late November 2008, Red Bull regained total ownership of Toro Rosso after buying back Berger's share of the team.
Scuderia Toro Rosso functions as a junior team to Red Bull Racing, with the aim of developing the skills of promising drivers for the senior team. Since 2010, the team has competed entirely independently of their sister team.
Vitantonio Liuzzi scored the team's first point in its first season at the 2006 United States Grand Prix. The team's first and only pole position, podium and victory were scored by Sebastian Vettel at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix.
Rosso is the major city of south-western Mauritania and capital of Trarza region. It is situated on the Senegal River at the head of year-round navigation. The town is 204 km south of the capital Nouakchott. The Arabic name is Al-Quwarib.
Rosso was once the capital of the Emirate of Trarza, a Precolonial Sahrawi dominated state.
Under French colonial rule Senegal and Mauritania were administered as a single entity. When independence came, the new frontier was drawn along the Senegal River, thus splitting the small town of Rosso in two. This article refers to Mauritanian Rosso, on the northern bank of the river.
Originally a staging-post for the gum arabic trade, Rosso has grown rapidly since independence. From a population of a mere 2 300 in 1960 it has now overtaken Kaédi to become the 3rd largest city in the country with 48 922 inhabitants (2000 census).
South-western Mauritania is predominantly a Wolof -speaking area but many members of Mauritania's other ethnic groups have moved to the town to escape the severe problems of desertification further north.
Daniil Vyacheslavovich Kvyat (Russian: Дании́л Вячесла́вович Квят; IPA: [dənʲɪˈil vʲɪtɕɪˈslavəvʲɪtɕ kvʲat], born 26 April 1994) is a Russian auto racing driver. He was runner-up at the 2012 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, and GP3 Series champion in 2013. He joined Formula One as a Toro Rosso driver in 2014 finishing 15th in the World Championship. He then moved on to Red Bull Racing to partner Daniel Ricciardo for the 2015 season. He scored his first Formula One podium finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix on 26 July 2015, finishing 2nd to Sebastian Vettel.
Born in Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia, Kvyat was an active kart racer in Russia and Italy. In 2009, he finished third in the KF3 European Championship category and finished as runner-up in the WSK International Series.
Kvyat started his formula racing career during the 2010 Formula BMW Pacific season with EuroInternational at the Sepang International Circuit. In his first race he started from sixth place, but finished only nineteenth. He finished fifth in the second race. During the season, he joined the Red Bull Junior Team and made his debut in Formula BMW Europe with the same team. Carlos Sainz Cenamor (born 12 April 1962 in Madrid, Spain) is a Spanish former rally driver. He won the World Rally Championship drivers' title with Toyota in 1990 and 1992, and finished runner-up four times. Constructors' world champions to have benefited from Sainz are Subaru (1995), Toyota (1999) and Citroën (2003, 2004 and 2005).
Nicknamed El Matador, Sainz holds the WRC record for most career starts. He was also the first non-Nordic driver to win the 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland. He came close to repeating the feat at the Swedish Rally finishing second four times and third twice. Besides WRC successes, he has won the Dakar Rally (2010), the Race of Champions (1997) and the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (1990). His co-drivers were Antonio Boto, Luís Moya and Marc Martí.
His son, Carlos Sainz Jr., born on 1 September 1994, is also a professional racing driver, currently competing for Scuderia Toro Rosso in Formula One.
Before moving into motorsport, multitalented Sainz played football and squash. As a teenager, Real Madrid gave him a trial and in squash he was the Spanish champion at the age of 16. He got his first touch of motorsport in Formula Ford while still playing squash and football. His parents hoped him to be a lawyer and were horrified when Sainz left university to concentrate full-time on his motorsport career.

It's time to enjoy a virtual lap of the Baku's track, this time with Daniil Kvyat at the wheel (russian subtitles available). Our Russian driver is our guide around the streets of the splendid Azerbaijani capital. It's a breathtaking scene, where the drivers rush at speeds in excess of 300 kms/h through the streets of the city centre, until reaching the narrow medieval area where the track has its narrowest point, no wider than seven metres. Old and new meld together, delivering a unique Grand Prix, full of all the tricky bits that one associates with a street circuit: it requires a driver to dig deep and drive precisely.

Toro Rosso F1 Monaco GP ... detailed in pictures
After the opening round in Melbourne, it's time to head for Shanghai and the track that Hermann Tilke designed, taking the inspiration for some of it from the Chinese character "Shang," which means "high." Daniil Kvyat tackles a lap ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix.
We're sure that, just like us, you're dying for the Formula 1 cars to start whizzing round the Melbourne track. Carlos Sainz simply couldn't wait and has already completed a virtual lap of Albert Park. Where did he do it? In Faenza, surrounded by all our past cars, from the STR1 to the STR11.
I did only nice things
And I only hoped to do nice things for ever more
And I knew
Or I thought I knew
Because I knew all the things I ever had to know
And I was full well satisfied
I was always true
I was always true, to myself I was never false
I believed
At least I thought I did
To believe Belief was all the reason for my life,
And I was full well satisfied
But it turned upside down
All my pious expectation was to prove me wrong
I was out
I was out not in
I went down not up and found it classified as sin
That I was too well satisfied
Now I'm living it down
And it's got me all depressed to think I got it wrong
I had made the grade
Or I thought I had
When I thought I had it made
The judgement brought me down
