So today really is the last day of Enda Kenny’s long goodbye as Taoiseach.
After 42 years as a TD, 15 as Fine Gael leader, and six as Taoiseach, Kenny has given his final speech to the Dáil.
There were plenty of tributes and kind words (from some benches in the Dáil at least) for Kenny, as well as a standing ovation, after he finished addressing colleagues for the last time jrnl.ie/3441321f

Enda Kenny divvied out some advice to his successor during his final appearance at Leaders’ Questions today.
With the election of a new Fine Gael leader taking place on Friday, a new Taoiseach should be in place in the second week in June.
When asked what advice he would give to the next leader, Kenny recalled a Latin phrase: ”Illegitimi non carborundum” which translates as “don’t let the bastards get you down” (He also said it in Irish).
TDs were keen to remind Kenny that today was his last day in the hot seat, with Rural Independent TD Noel Grealish channeling Late Late Show interview-style questions, asking the Taoiseach:
“What do you consider your greatest achievements, and also your biggest regrets?”
With the backbenches giggling, the Taoiseach said:
"As of regrets, I don’t have any."

Even the English news papers are possible laughing at our idiotic leader and his attempts to belittle another elected person. For that's what it is - an attempt to besmirch a person that has been elected by many to represent them. Our national leader is supposed to be the highest person in the country as setting examples. what example has he set? What message - what image has he created? Thats its ok not to be accommodating, that its ok to be stubborn and uncommunicative with those that have difficulties in understanding?

Mr Kenny is supposed to be trying his best to communicate to his people - ALL people. By deliberately being unwilling to accommodate others when unfortunate event happens with equipment - and he further obstinate and downright insulting to boot - these are not the characteristics that should be in a national leader. They are certainly not characteristics that should be in any leader or any elected representative. He not only let Ireland down - he let himself down badly.

Mr Kenny's refusal to try better communicating with elected representatives could also be seen as a low attempt to degrade another person and their abilities or lack there of. Its simply disgusting behaviour - especially from the person standing elected, supposed to be leading us all. He should go back to his teaching post and try learning some decency and manners. He exhibited none when refusing to communicate better to all those present that obviously was even willing to listen to him.

In his remarks, Kenny launched into a lengthy monologue about St. Patrick, whom the White House proceedings were honoring.

President Donald Trump unveiled a $1.15 trillion budget Thursday, proposing a far-reaching overhaul of federal spending that would slash many domestic programs to finance a big increase for the military and make a down payment on a U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Trump's plan seeks to upend Washington with cuts to long-promised campaign targets like foreign aid and the Environmental Protection Agency as well as strong congressional favorites such as medical research, help for homeless veterans and community development grants.
"A budget that puts America first must make the safety of our people its number one priority -- because without safety, there can be no prosperity," Trump said in a message accompanying his proposed budget that was titled "America First: A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again."
The $54 billion boost for the military is the largest since President Ronald Reagan's Pentagon buildup in the 1980s, promising immediate money for troop readiness, the fight against Islamic State militants and procurement of new ships, fighter jets and other weapons. The 10 percent Pentagon boost is financed by $54 billion in cuts to foreign aid and domestic agencies that had been protected by former President Barack Obama.
The budget goes after the frequent targets of the party's staunchest conservatives, eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts, legal aid for the poor, low-income heating assistance and the AmeriCorps national service program established by former President Bill Clinton.

Enda Kenny
Enda Kenny (born 24 April 1951) is an Irish Fine Gael politician, and has been the Taoiseach since March 2011. He has led Fine Gael since 2002. He served as Minister for Tourism and Trade from 1994 to 1997. He is also a two-term Vice-President of the European People's Party.
Kenny has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for Mayo since 1975, having succeeded his father Henry Kenny. He is the longest-serving TD currently in Dáil Éireann, which makes him the incumbent Father of the Dáil.
Kenny led Fine Gael in the 2011 general election. He subsequently brokered an agreement with the Labour Party and formed a coalition government on 9 March 2011. He is Fine Gael's first Taoiseach since John Bruton from 1994 to 1997, and the first Fine Gael leader to win government in an election since Garret FitzGerald in 1982.
Early and private life
Enda Kenny was born in Derrywash, Islandeady near Castlebar, County Mayo in 1951, the third child of five. He was educated locally at St Patrick's National School, Cornanool and at St Gerald's College, Castlebar. He attended St Patrick's College of Education, Dublin, qualifying as a national teacher and was an undergraduate student at University College Galway. He worked as a primary school teacher for four years.

They are certainly not characteristics that should be in any leader or any elected representative. He not only let Ireland down - he let himself down badly.

Mr Kenny's refusal to try better communicating with elected representatives could also be seen as a low attempt to degrade another person and their abilities or lack there of. Its simply disgusting behaviour - especially from the person standing elected, supposed to be leading us all. He should go back to his teaching post and try learning some decency and manners. He exhibited none when refusing to communicate better to all those present that obviously was even willing to listen to him.

President Donald Trump unveiled a $1.15 trillion budget Thursday, proposing a far-reaching overhaul of federal spending that would slash many domestic programs to finance a big increase for the military and make a down payment on a U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Trump's plan seeks to upend Washington with cuts to long-promised campaign targets like foreign aid and the Environmental Protection Agency as well as strong congressional favorites such as medical research, help for homeless veterans and community development grants.
"A budget that puts America first must make the safety of our people its number one priority -- because without safety, there can be no prosperity," Trump said in a message accompanying his proposed budget that was titled "America First: A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again."
The $54 billion boost for the military is the largest since President Ronald Reagan's Pentagon buildup in the 1980s, promising immediate money for troop readiness, the fight against Islamic State militants and procurement of new ships, fighter jets and other weapons. The 10 percent Pentagon boost is financed by $54 billion in cuts to foreign aid and domestic agencies that had been protected by former President Barack Obama.
The budget goes after the frequent targets of the party's staunchest conservatives, eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts, legal aid for the poor, low-income heating assistance and the AmeriCorps national service program established by former President Bill Clinton.

President Donald Trump unveiled a $1.15 trillion budget Thursday, proposing a far-reaching overhaul of federal spending that would slash many domestic programs to finance a big increase for the military and make a down payment on a U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Trump's plan seeks to upend Washington with cuts to long-promised campaign targets like foreign aid and the Environmental Protection Agency as well as strong congressional favorites such as medical research, help for homeless veterans and community development grants.
"A budget that puts America first must make the safety of our people its number one priority -- because without safety, there can be no prosperity," Trump said in a message accompanying his proposed budget that was titled "America First: A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again."
The $54 billion boost for the military is the largest since President Ronald Reagan's Pentagon buildup in the 1980s, promising immediate money for troop readiness, the fight against Islamic State militants and procurement of new ships, fighter jets and other weapons. The 10 percent Pentagon boost is financed by $54 billion in cuts to foreign aid and domestic agencies that had been protected by former President Barack Obama.
The budget goes after the frequent targets of the party's staunchest conservatives, eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts, legal aid for the poor, low-income heating assistance and the AmeriCorps national service program established by former President Bill Clinton.

Deputy First Minister Mr. Martin McGuinness also said he disagreed with Mr Paisley's comments about the bombings, but he welcomed his views on the discrimination of Catholics after partition.

Deputy First Minister Mr. Martin McGuinness also said he disagreed with Mr Paisley's comments about the bombings, but he welcomed his views on the discrimination of Catholics after partition.
