Here is the undervalued score for Hombre, the 1966 Martin Ritt's movie with Paul Newman and a great cast. On my opinion, this has to be considered one of the best ever soundtracks for a western, and the movie itself as one of the best westerns ever made.

Martin Ritt
Martin Ritt (March 2, 1914 – December 8, 1990) was an American director and actor who worked in both film and theater. He was born in New York City.
Some of the movies he directed include The Long, Hot Summer (1958), Paris Blues (1961), Hemingway's Adventures of a Young Man (1962), Hud (1963), The Outrage (1964), The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965), Hombre (1967), The Great White Hope (1970), Sounder (1972), Conrack (1974), Norma Rae (1979), Cross Creek (1983), Murphy's Romance (1985), Nuts (1987) and Stanley & Iris (1990).
Early career and influences
Born to a Jewish family in Manhattan, the son of immigrant parents. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. Ritt originally attended and played football for Elon College in North Carolina. The stark contrasts of the depression-era South, against his New York City upbringing, instilled in him a passion for expressing the struggles of inequality, which is apparent in the films he directed. After leaving St. John's University, Ritt found work with a theater group, and began acting in plays. His first performance was as Crown in Porgy and Bess. After his performance drew favorable reviews, Ritt concluded that he could "only be happy in the theater." Ritt then went to work with the Roosevelt administration's New Deal Works Progress Administration as a playwright for the Federal Theater Project, a federal government-funded theater support program.

Ben (Paul Newman) gets Clara (Joanne Woodward) to kiss him, but she calls him a barn-burner and runs off.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
While often regarded as one of America's greatest novelists, William Faulkner produced work that did not always translate well to the screen; it's ironically appropriate that this movie, based on several of Faulkner's short stories, is often regarded as one of the best films based on his work, though not especially accurate to the original source material. Ben Quick (Paul Newman), a sullen but self-confident drifter, arrives in a small Mississippi town where his father had a bad reputation as a firebug. Will Varner (Orson Welles), the town's patriarch, still holds a grudge against Quick's dad, and when the young man decides to stay in town and sharecrop on Varner's land, Will goes out of his way to make his life difficult. However, Will develops a grudging respect for Quick's guts and determination, and he wishes that his weak-willed son Jody (Anthony Franciosa) could be more like him; Jody's wife Eula (Lee Remick) happens to agree. In time, Will gets the idea that Quick might be a good match for his daughter Clara (Joanne Woodward) and a better choice to take over his business dealings than Jody. However, neither Clara nor Quick care to be told what to do, and besides, Clara already has a beau -- though Alan Stewart (Richard Anderson) is even more of a milquetoast than Jody and is led by the nose by his mother (Mabel Albertson). However, sparks begin to fly between Clara and Quick, and when Jody fears he may lose his place as heir of Will's estate, he takes drastic action, trapping his father in a barn, setting it on fire, and planting evidence that would suggest that the blaze was Quick's doing. The Long, Hot Summer was the first film that Newman and Woodward made together, and they got married the same year.

Here is the undervalued score for Hombre, the 1966 Martin Ritt's movie with Paul Newman and a great cast. On my opinion, this has to be considered one of the best ever soundtracks for a western, and the movie itself as one of the best westerns ever made.

Durant le voyage, le véhicule est attaqué par quatre malfrats qui semblent ne s'intéresser qu'au portefeuille de l'un des passagers, le docteur Favor. Ce dernier est en effet chargé de remettre une somme rondelette aux Indiens vivant dans la réserve de San Carlos, argent qui leur permettra d'acheter de la viande pour l'ensemble de la tribu. Les bandits, trop heureux d'avoir réussi leur coup, croient pouvoir s'en tirer à bon compte... Mais c'est sans compter avec Russell, qui sent en lui l'appel de ses racines

"The Days of Wrath"), also known in the UK as Blood and Grit and Gunlaw, is a 1967 Italian-German Spaghetti Western film directed and co-written by Tonino Valerii and starring Lee Van Cleef and Giuliano Gemma, and features a musical score by Riz Ortolani.[2] The film credits the novel Der Tod ritt dienstags (Death Rode on Tuesdays) by Ron Barker (Rolf O. Becker) as its basis, although Valerii and screenwriter Ernesto Gastaldi have attested that this credit was primarily included to appease the West German co-producers, and that although some scenes are partially borrowed from it, the film is not an adaptation of Becker's novel.[3][4]
Day of Anger was Valerii's second film, as well as his second Spaghetti Western, following Taste for Killing. Valerii went on to film his third Spaghetti Western, The Price of Power, also featuring Gemma, in 1969.
