Award winning writer/director/actor Aldous Davidson (TV's Blue Bloods, The Guy Code, and last summer's The Dark Knight Rises) and Creative Impulse transmedia artist Jan Lucanus team up in the rap duo project Ultra Vanity Testosterone. The duo's debut hip hop release is a completely improvised collection of songs entitled "The Freestyled Mixtape".
Aldous Davidson remarks, "The Freestyle Mixtape started as an experiment but quickly evolved into a pretty dope learning experience for me. It helped usher in a growth period for me as far as lyricism goes. I had always heard about Jay-Z or Lil Wayne being able to go up to the mic and spit flawlessly without written material and thanks to the Freestyle Mixtape, this is something I can do now. It forces you to think three to four rhymes ahead and seriously up your concentration level. We would freestyle in sections. Four to five bars here. six or seven bars there. Eventually an entire rough but rugged verse would be created. Jan was a great person to do this with as well. His love for hip hop and self-expression made it a fun and enjoyable project. You could see each of us getting better and better at it the more songs we made."
CIE's Jan Lucanus adds, "Aldous was the first true entertainer I saw during film school at NYU. Even before we met, I watched him in fellow students' films and was impressed by his screen presence. When I found out he rapped and did comedy (he even had a Gamepro-sponsored web series), I was blown away. Aldous is an artist that uses several forms of media to express himself, an attribute that is not only part of the Creative Impulse mantra, but my own personal lifestyle." Jan continues, "For me, the UVT project is about experiencing the aftermath of breaking up with a serious girlfriend. It's about looking for something outside of yourself (which is where the fun, cool, and comedy resides in the music), then coming to the realization that what you really seek is inside of you (the more introspective songs). There's a range of unique energy in UVT from party to pop to empowering, while maintaining a raw New York influence. We think people will feel it."
Mr. Butterscotch himself, Paul Shull, comments, "UVT makes me want to hit people with swords, seriously... I LOVE IT!"

Jan Lucanus
Jan Lucanus is an American comic book writer, filmmaker, martial artist, musical artist, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of the transmedia company Creative Impulse Entertainment, Inc., co-creator/co-writer of the mixed martial arts comic books series, JFH: Justice For Hire, is an award-winning filmmaker, an international martial arts champion in both the full contact sport of San Shou and the sport of Tai Chi Push Hands, and is a rapper/singer/songwriter. Jan also consults on business, production, and creative strategies for companies and individuals across comics, film, television, music, and games. He is a graduate of the New York University Maurice Kanbar Institute for Film & Television, Tisch School of the Arts, holding a degree in Film Production.
As a transmedia artist, Jan has been called a "martial arts comic book prodigy" and an "entertainment renaissance man" for his work combining comic books, film, animation, and music, most notably for the JFH: Justice For Hire entertainment property. Comic book legend Neal Adams was quoted on interview with iFanboy stating, "Understand we've got new people doing new things – Jan is an example of that… There's a new interrelationship between the forms that's beginning to develop from comic books to motion comics to film and television. Those of us who are aware of it are going to be involved in making entertainment from beginning to end".

Award winning writer/director/actor Aldous Davidson (TV's Blue Bloods, The Guy Code, and last summer's The Dark Knight Rises) and Creative Impulse transmedia artist Jan Lucanus team up in the rap duo project Ultra Vanity Testosterone. The duo's debut hip hop release is a completely improvised collection of songs entitled "The Freestyled Mixtape".
Aldous Davidson remarks, "The Freestyle Mixtape started as an experiment but quickly evolved into a pretty dope learning experience for me. It helped usher in a growth period for me as far as lyricism goes. I had always heard about Jay-Z or Lil Wayne being able to go up to the mic and spit flawlessly without written material and thanks to the Freestyle Mixtape, this is something I can do now. It forces you to think three to four rhymes ahead and seriously up your concentration level. We would freestyle in sections. Four to five bars here. six or seven bars there. Eventually an entire rough but rugged verse would be created. Jan was a great person to do this with as well. His love for hip hop and self-expression made it a fun and enjoyable project. You could see each of us getting better and better at it the more songs we made."
CIE's Jan Lucanus adds, "Aldous was the first true entertainer I saw during film school at NYU. Even before we met, I watched him in fellow students' films and was impressed by his screen presence. When I found out he rapped and did comedy (he even had a Gamepro-sponsored web series), I was blown away. Aldous is an artist that uses several forms of media to express himself, an attribute that is not only part of the Creative Impulse mantra, but my own personal lifestyle." Jan continues, "For me, the UVT project is about experiencing the aftermath of breaking up with a serious girlfriend. It's about looking for something outside of yourself (which is where the fun, cool, and comedy resides in the music), then coming to the realization that what you really seek is inside of you (the more introspective songs). There's a range of unique energy in UVT from party to pop to empowering, while maintaining a raw New York influence. We think people will feel it."
Mr. Butterscotch himself, Paul Shull, comments, "UVT makes me want to hit people with swords, seriously... I LOVE IT!"
