An intellectually disabled Perth man is living in fear after he discovered neighbours stealing electricity from his home with an extension cord.
The man, named Shane, lives in a Homes West property in Gosnells in Perth's south-east and works regularly at Good Samaritan industries.
But his sister Cheree told 6PR's Oliver Peterson that the 53-year-old recently got a rude shock when he looked in his backyard.
"We just found out that one of his neighbours has put an extension cord over his back fence and has plugged it into his power point in his backyard," she said.
"He's a little bit intimidated by his neighbours because he's had a run in with them before, they've got stuff all over his driveway that they've been asked to move and they haven't, so he's a little bit intimidated by them."
Shane's residence abuts the neighbouring property and the power cord runs from a wall socket next to his hot water system up to the gutter and into next door's roof.
Reluctant to confront the neighbours, Cheree said the power cord is still plugged in and that her brother's power bills are taking a hit, stretching his already limited budget.
The situation has distressed him so much she said her brother didn't turn up for work on Wednesday.
"I've contacted Homes West and they're going to get back to me in the next couple of days.
"They've (the neighbours) have actually climbed up on his roof to get into his property to do this. The units he lives in, when he first moved in they were lovely and nice and now they're not so nice."
