Pearl Tower or Pearl at the Sea is a 70-floor 242 meter (794 foot) skyscraper in Panama City, Panamá. Construction was first planned in 2007. The building was completed in 2012.
Oriental Pearl may refer to:
The Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower (Chinese: 东方明珠塔; pinyin: Dōngfāng Míngzhūtǎ, official name: 东方明珠广播电视塔) is a TV tower in Shanghai, China. Its location at the tip of Lujiazui in the Pudong district by the side of Huangpu River, opposite The Bund, makes it a distinct landmark in the area.
Its principal designers were Jiang Huan Chen, Lin Benlin, and Zhang Xiulin. Construction began in 1991, and the tower was completed in 1994. At 468 m (1,535 feet) high, it was the tallest structure in China from 1994–2007, when it was surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Center. It is classified as a AAAAA scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration.
The tower is brightly lit in different LED sequences at night.
On 7 July 2007, Oriental Pearl Tower was host to the Chinese Live Earth concert.
The tower features 11 spheres, big and small. The two largest spheres, along the length of the tower, have diameters of 50 m (164 ft) for the lower and 45 m (148 ft) for the upper. They are linked by three columns, each 9 m (30 ft) in diameter. The highest sphere is 14 m (46 ft) in diameter.
Shanghai is the largest Chinese city by population and the largest city proper by population in the world. It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of China, with a population of more than 24 million as of 2014. It is a global financial center, and a transport hub with the world's busiest container port. Located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China, Shanghai sits on the south edge of the mouth of the Yangtze in the middle portion of the Chinese coast. The municipality borders the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the north, south and west, and is bounded to the east by the East China Sea.
For centuries a major administrative, shipping, and trading town, Shanghai grew in importance in the 19th century due to European recognition of its favorable port location and economic potential. The city was one of five forced open to foreign trade following the British victory over China in the First Opium War while the subsequent 1842 Treaty of Nanking and 1844 Treaty of Whampoa allowed the establishment of the Shanghai International Settlement and the French Concession. The city then flourished as a center of commerce between east and west, and became the undisputed financial hub of the Asia Pacific in the 1930s. However, with the Communist Party takeover of the mainland in 1949, trade was reoriented to focus on socialist countries, and the city's global influence declined. In the 1990s, the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping resulted in an intense re-development of the city, aiding the return of finance and foreign investment to the city.
A pearl is a hard object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusc. Just like the shell of a clam, a pearl is composed of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. The ideal pearl is perfectly round and smooth, but many other shapes (baroque pearls) occur. The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries. Because of this, pearl has become a metaphor for something rare, fine, admirable and valuable.
The most valuable pearls occur spontaneously in the wild, but are extremely rare. These wild pearls are referred to as natural pearls. Cultured or farmed pearls from pearl oysters and freshwater mussels make up the majority of those currently sold. Imitation pearls are also widely sold in inexpensive jewelry, but the quality of their iridescence is usually very poor and is easily distinguished from that of genuine pearls. Pearls have been harvested and cultivated primarily for use in jewelry, but in the past were also used to adorn clothing. They have also been crushed and used in cosmetics, medicines and paint formulations.
Shanghai . . the Oriental Pearl Tower .The Oriental Pearl Tower is no longer the tallest structure in Shanghai. It was surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Center in 2007. The Oriental Pearl Tower consists of 3 main whole-scope sightseeing spheres. Visitors can enjoy the dynamic city view at different heights as there are observation decks in each of these 3 spheres. The highest sphere is at 350 meters above sea level, and is called the Space Module. We gave up trying to get to this sphere because of the long queue. The second sphere is located at 259 to 267 meters above the ground. It has 3 levels. The top one is a revolving restaurant which is the highest revolving restaurant in Asia at 267 meters above sea level. We had buffet lunch here. The lower 2 levels are viewing platforms. ...
Journey of going up the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower. Walking on the glass floor is a scary experience for first timer. After few minutes, it's become an excitement :) Definitely a very nice experience. I forgot the mantra of moving the camera slowly...sorry for the fast movement at certain scene. El enfermizo sonido del mundo
te está volviendo loco
tajeándote la carne,
salpicando las paredes
se forma la figura
de un verdadero perro.
perro sale a buscarte hoy
sin encontrarte.
dale tus primitivas señales de hambre
a los de este gobierno
y es así
vuelo azul!
viaje azul!
huída azul!
luz azul!
el idioma no es importante
acaso el tiempo
y el dinero si?
el se maduró
y se secó lo ojos
con palabras vacías.
perro sale a buscarte hoy
sin encontrarte,
sin encontrarte de vuelta bien.
