Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange, best known under his alias Doctor Strange, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by artist Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in Strange Tales #110 (July 1963). A former doctor, Strange serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Debuting in the Silver Age of comics, the character has been featured in several eponymous comics series and adapted in a variety of media including video games, an animated television show, and films.
In 2012, Doctor Strange was ranked 33rd in IGN's list of "The Top 50 Avengers". A Marvel Studios live-action film adaptation starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role is set for a 2016 theatrical release.
Artist Steve Ditko and scriptwriter Stan Lee have described the character as having been originally the idea of Ditko, who wrote in 2008, "On my own, I brought in to Lee a five-page, penciled story with a page/panel script of my idea of a new, different kind of character for variety in Marvel Comics. My character wound up being named Dr. Strange because he would appear in Strange Tales." In a 1963 letter to Jerry Bails, Lee called the character Ditko's idea, saying,
Wizard is a synonym for a magician.

Focus Features (formerly USA Films, Universal Focus, Good Machine, October Films, Gramercy Pictures and FilmDistrict) is the art house films division of NBCUniversal, and acts as both a producer and distributor for its own films and a distributor for independent and foreign films.
Focus Features was formed from the 2002 divisional merger of USA Films, Universal Focus and Good Machine. USA Films was created by Barry Diller in 1999 when he purchased October Films and Gramercy Pictures from Seagram and merged the two units together.
Focus' most successful release in North America to date is Brokeback Mountain (2005), which earned $83 million at the North American box office. However, this is not counting the domestic total of Traffic (2000), which earned $124.1 million under the USA Films banner. Focus' most successful international release is Burn After Reading (2008), which earned $163.7 million in worldwide gross revenue. The animated film Coraline (which Focus did not produce, but did distribute) was also highly profitable for the company. Although suffering its share of unsuccessful releases, Focus has been consistently profitable, and its international sales arm (unusual among studio specialty film divisions) allows it to receive the foreign as well as domestic revenues from its releases. Its DVD and movie rights revenues are boosted by cult classics including Wet Hot American Summer.

My very first short film! What started out as just a fun little on-the-spot idea ended up becoming an intense and humorous project, taking weeks for me to complete with the visual effects. I've wanted to try making some Harry Potter style VFX, and at the same time wanted more than just a clip of an effect(s), hence; my first short film! This was all 'from home' with some friends (or...children of friends) for the 'actors' and no actual crew. The Tale of the Three Brothers is a fairy tale told to wizard children. Supposedly written by Beedle the Bard, it is published as part of a series of works that collectively are called The Tales of Beedle the Bard. While most wizards view this story as one that teaches children morals (e.g. humility, wisdom, etc.), some believe that the story refers to the Deathly Hallows, three highly powerful magical artefacts coveted by generations of wizards, and the three Peverell brothers who first obtained them. 'The Tale of the Three Brothers' also has a different variation, referring to the twilight as midnight to make it more suspenseful for the entertainment of children, but in Dumbledore's original copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard it refers to the journey taking place at twilight.

In 1997 the Broadcast Design Association became PromaxBDA , and their awards are as prestigious today as they were back in 1987, 30 years ago! If you've been enjoying these little bits of CGI History from my basement, please share this channel with your friends and followers! Thanks! (read more below...) In 1987 I moved to Clearlake, Texas to work at NASA's Johnson Space Center. I was in an office just past the Mission Control room, animating this film about a proposed Mars Rover mission to bring martian soil samples back to Earth. This was with the earliest version of Wavefront software, and shows the introduction of both bump mapping and shadow casting. The late Gunter Sabionski supervised and hired me, and I worked primarily with engineer Randy Barnette, scriptwriter Tom Robinson and programmer Ralph Leuthy. (Thanks guys, that was a fun year!)...
